Klear Perception

Climb

Climb

Sep 06, 2025

Some time later Snow stirred and woke from his rest.

Still feeling the agonizing pain in his body, he groaned. His thigh was still bleeding, but luckily there was no piece of shrapnel still stuck in his thigh.

Ripping a piece of cloth from the very small amount of remaining clothes he had, he wrapped it around his thigh and made a knot with as much strength as he could muster.

Finally, looking up the large pagoda of stairs, his eyes sank at the hundreds of stairs leading to the cathedral.

Unable to stand on his right leg, he got on all of his 3’s and began slowly climbing the stairs.

He didn't know or really care how much time had passed before he reached the cathedral; but the moment he got as close to the door as he could, he sprawled on the floor about 100 feet from the entrance.

His clothes, body and hair were damp now. So not much water spilled from him anymore.

But he could still hear the screaming water far down below him. He was tired, battered and cold… but he only had to go a little further. Mustering more strength, he got back on all his 3’s and drug himself to the doors of the cathedral.

Once he was there, he didn't waste any time. And charged at the door with the brunt of his left shoulder, falling in he crashed to the floor in a heap of pain.

With an angry growl still on the ground, he kicked the door shut with his left foot. Finally, after weeks, Snow was finally assaulted with the eerie but peaceful…comfortable silence.

Fatigue took over once again and blessed him with the gift of sleep.

Almost 4 hours unknowingly to Snow had passed before he woke up again. When he did wake, his eyes were assaulted by a beaming white light.

Turning quickly and painfully to lay on his stomach, he looked in the direction of the light. It was directly in the middle of the cathedral.

Letting his eyes adjust to the light, they widened the moment they focused.

“A… a shard of bestowment…”

Those were the first words Snow had spoken in weeks.

And rightfully so, his shock and dismay demand words. Even though he had never seen one in his life and never expected to.

It was too beautiful, too ethereal to not be exactly that a “shard of bestowment” ; its presence here wasn't the shock but its

activation and its color was. Only someone who had become an awakened, could activate one. And to even awaken you had to use a gold shard

And he definitely wasn't one of those people. Fear washed over him. Was someone else here? If so, why hadn't they made themselves known? Letting out a shaky breath, Snow thought about calling out, but

his rationale and paranoia were against it…

After a few minutes of scanning the hall. Snow sighed once more, it wasn't wrong to think someone had activated it in the mistrust of all this.

Not wanting to remember the horrific event that brought this situation to be, he pushed these thoughts down and stood up.
