While Sophia and Soleil were hardly pleased when Vynx returned with another woman (who was a nun, no less), they both softened as soon as he explained her particular circumstances to them. Besides the reaper bound to her, the cleric had no recollection of life before the church found her. Hilde was a refreshing addition to the group, always overly eager to help in any way she could. Vynx found her endearing compared to his stoic companions, who rarely cracked a smile at his jokes. Hilde was as sweet as sugar, and he was happy to indulge her questions during their trips between the tavern and church.
On the night before they were set to leave, Vynx came by the chapel again to check in on Hilde. As he poked his head into her attic room, he found that the chamber had been cleaned out and her bags all neatly packed by her bedside. "Evenin', Hilde! All ready for tomorrow?"
Hilde was sitting on her thin mattress and brushing her hair when Vynx entered. "Welcome back, Vynx! I believe I should be all set… Hopefully this isn't too much?" she wondered and poked her backpack with her foot. "Did you get your order of stakes from the carpenter?"
"Ehhh, I prefer traveling light, but I did arrange for a wagon ride from one of the merchants leaving town tomorrow. Otherwise, I don't know if I'd survive carrying your stuff along with all of Sophia's dresses and books…" Vynx grimaced. At the mention of stakes, he cheerfully nodded and closed the hatch door behind him as he approached the bed. "Yup! He did some good work with the ash wood. While not as fancy as the silver stakes I snagged from Soleil's church, they should still get the job done." Vynx showed off the pointed wooden spikes in front of Hilde eagerly.
"I-I'm glad to hear it." Hilde managed with a small smile. It was still hard for her to believe that Vynx was a seasoned vampire hunter, even after his display of banishing the church's local ghosts. Even more bizarre to her was the fact he was traveling with a vampiress and werewolf—making her the only full-fledged human of the group. "Will you be staying the night here?" Hilde asked with a hopeful sparkle in her eye.
Vynx sat down on the ground, cross-legged. "Yeah, I didn't want to leave you alone on your last night here." He stretched out, by this point used to sleeping on her floor after the previous few nights. Watching over the priestess was not too bad, and he could at least rest easy knowing that her reaper wasn't going to reappear anytime soon. It did help that she was a looker, and getting a chance to peep on a cleric in her smallclothes was an opportunity Vynx would never turn down.
"Oh dear, I already packed away the spare bedroll. I—I can pull it back out if you need—"
"Oooor, you could let me sleep in your bed," Vynx suggested. He smiled up at Hilde patiently as she went from bewildered to flustered to a sputtering mess. Finally, she nodded meekly in acceptance, and Vynx beamed. "Sweet! Make room, Sister." Vynx climbed into her bed, but not without getting between her legs first.
"V-Vynx!" Hilde yelped as the hunter parted her thighs. She was wearing nothing beneath her robes, a fact he was all too eager to exploit now that she was under him.
"You've been driving me crazy, Hilde," Vynx whispered, keeping his voice low in case they could be heard through the wooden floorboards. He knew she wanted him but was far too polite to ever say it aloud—especially within the hallowed halls. On the other hand, Vynx knew he wouldn't be able to wait another night, and having any privacy with the full group would be a nightmare once they started traveling together. He lowered his face to kiss up her bare thighs, getting a nice look at her goods under the white nightgown.
The cleric burned in embarrassment, yet she didn't want him to stop. She did technically offer herself to him on that fateful night, but she didn't expect him to take her up on it so soon! Hilde gasped as his lips brushed against her loins, kissing her in places she never imagined someone would dare.
