Finn's POV:
This is nice. I don't have a great idea of what's going on, but it's nice. Eric seems much more... forward tonight, to say the least. I'm sure he'll be beyond embarrassed when he wakes up, but for now, I'd kind of like to enjoy this quiet moment of something that might not ever be. I lay my head on top of Eric's, lightly, so as not to wake him. I sigh and close my eyes, enjoying the serenity of this moment.
This is honestly so much better than that first night we met. Now it seems like we have some sort of a connection, almost like what we have right now (whatever it is) means something. Like we have a real bond. Being completely honest, I've never really felt like I've had a "bond" quite like this one before. My sister and I have a bond, sure. But our bond is more of a mutual tolerance (like most siblings), and of course that means I'd give her a kidney if she needed one, but I wouldn't let her borrow any of my things. The bond I have with Eric feels differently than any of my other relationships. It's a bit hard to explain. Whenever I'm with him, it feels like he's the only person in the world. I can't help but smile when he's smiling, and I think I'd be alright spending every day of my life from now on with him. That sounds like I'm moving really fast, but really, every second I'm with Eric is even better than the last. I think life would be so much more enjoyable with Eric around me for the rest of time.
...
When morning finally rolled around, Eric was still asleep. I had gotten some (much needed) sleep as well, but not nearly as much. It's honestly a bit nerve wracking to have someone sleeping leaned against you. You can't move, for fear of waking them up, so you're always really sore and your muscles are too tight to move.
At some point during the night, I must have moved, because now I was laying down on the couch, instead of sitting straight up like I had been before. Eric was sleeping half next to me and half on top of me, and I'm not sure how that's comfortable at all. He's still sleeping, though, so I suppose it isn't as bad as I'm imagining. Or maybe he's just more fatigued than I thought. I think it's cute, trying his best to stay up just to hang out with me. It's really nice to have someone value the time they spend with you. If only Eric knew how much I valued my time with him. I mean... what's really stopping me from telling him, though? Everyone deserves proper communication in their life, especially in any possible romance. I am a strict believer in the supremacy of honesty. While I do try my best to be honest, it's not really necessary, since keeping secrets isn't my forte. Besides, people like Eric make me want to be an honest person. People like that make me almost sure that keeping secrets is entirely wrong, and everyone deserves to know the truth.
About fifteen minutes later, Eric begins to stir a little. I'm a little relieved that he's waking up, because damn, I'm getting really sore laying here like this. But I kind of don't want this moment to end. The peace of this moment makes me want it to last forever. Then again, I'd rather hang out and talk with Eric than just lay here and watch him sleep. That's really creepy, not gonna lie.
Eric lets out a breath and opens one eye. As soon as he does so, he's met with my face about five inches away from his own. He stifles a gasp and sits up quickly. This doesn't take away the intimacy of the situation, however, since he's now sitting directly on top of my stomach, straddling my torso.
To my surprise, he doesn't move, but instead reaches over to the side table next to the couch and grabs his phone. He turns it on, checking the time, and stifles yet another gasp.
"Fuck! I'm gonna miss my class!"
Eric looks around in a panic, and then looks down at me, completely missing the awkwardness of this situation. I guess it doesn't really have to be awkward. It's not like this is some rom-com show.
"Finn, have you seen my school bag? I'm gonna miss my class if I don't leave in the next..." He checks his phone again. "Three minutes."
I nod and sit up, directing Eric to the place I saw it last. Eric glances in the direction of the room I told him, nods quickly, thanks me profusely, and bolts away to find his bag and get ready. Literally what just happened? It's a little funny, seeing Eric in a frenzy like that. If he had more time, he might have been embarrassed, but I'm glad he wasn't really hung up on any of it. Life would be a little too complicated for me if there was a big deal about every little thing.
Eric flies back into the room, school bag in hand. I walk over to the door where he's struggling to put on his shoes as fast as possible while trying not to obviously rush. He stands quickly, and notices me standing right there. He checks the time once more, and places one hand on the doorknob.
"Ah! Eric, wait." I reach over to fix his hair. He must not have had time to comb it this morning. "Alright, sorry. You're good to go." I give him a thumbs up.
"Thanks."
Eric quickly beckons for me to bring my face closer. What does he need? I lean down a little so my face is level with his. Eric turns my face to the side and plants a small kiss on my cheek. He then waves and bolts out the door. As the door closes behind him, I reach up and touch my cheek.
"Love you too." I mutter with a laugh.
Sometimes I wonder if Eric has any idea what he's doing.
Eric's POV:
I barely make it to my class. When I arrive, I sink down in my chair and rub my temples. Why didn't I set my alarm last night? Did I? Did it go off? Maybe it did. No, if it did, Finn would've woken me up.
Wait.
Why was Finn there? Why wasn't I sleeping in my own bed? I try to recount the events that happened last night, and then this morning. I can't really remember much from last night, but this morning...
Wait, did I fucking kiss Finn goodbye? What breed of idiot would I have to be to do that? I mean... it's not like I didn't want to, but did he want me to? I don't know. It's a waste to think about it in class anyway. I try my best to pay attention to the lesson, and I think I got the general idea of it, but I was a little too focused on the events of last night and this morning.
After class, I shoot a text to one of my only college friends, asking to meet up. Her response is quick, as usual. We meet in the middle of campus fifteen minutes after my class's end. When she arrives, I'm sitting on a bench, totally zoning out. I don't notice her arrival until she's standing in front of me, arms crossed, and says;
"Boy problems?"
I sigh. "Do I really have to answer that?"
I raise my head to look at her. Yuri Basaki, that's her, is a Japanese transfer student and my current best friend. She's totally menacing. I'd say she gets less scary as you get to know her, but she doesn't. It just makes you a little safer from her wrath.
She shakes her head.
"No, not really," she laughs. "I can tell from that face you're making." She stops talking to mock my face. "So who's the guy?"
I take a deep breath and say;
"My roommate." I know what Yuri's going to say. "Don't say it."
"Eric, I have to say it."
"Don't you dare say it."
"And. They. Were. Roommates."
I sigh.
"Yuri, now I have to kill you. You knew this would happen." I shake my head in mock sadness.
Yuri puts a hand dramatically to her forehead and pretends she's going to faint.
"Anyway," she starts, "What's the trouble? Wait. Don't tell me." She takes a second to search my face for clues. "Ok. I got it. You slept with him and... you wanna do it again but you don't know if he likes you in a romantic way or a sexual way, and you like him in a romantic way and wanna date him but you're too chicken to ask him how he feels about you." She nods.
"Yuri how the actual fuck-"
"I'm just awesome," she cuts me off. "Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong."
"You should become a psychic, deadass."
"And share my amazingness with the general public? No, thanks. I prefer the subtle, mysterious stuff. Like telling exactly what's in a drink just from smelling it."
"That's not the same thing at all." I point out.
"Shut up. So, what're you going to do about your little roommate boyfriend?"
"Yuri, he's not my boyfriend. And that's exactly why I need your help. You seem good at this relationship shit, and I'm really not."
"Ok, step one, let me meet him. I have no idea what kind of person he is right now, so I wouldn't know what to tell you to do."
Should I let her meet him? I mean... why not, right?
"I guess you can meet him." I shrug. "When are you free?"
"Uh, right now."
"What do you mean right now?"
"I mean we're leaving right now." She starts walking in the direction of the freshman dorms. I follow after her. She knows exactly which dorm is mine, so nothing's stopping her from just knocking on the door anytime, anyway. Now I totally regret telling her my dorm number.
"Oh my god, Yuri. At least let me tell him I'm bringing someone over to hang out!"
"Text him on the way, I am not waiting!"
I continue to protest to Yuri about coming over to visit right now, but soon, we're standing in front of the door to the dorm. Yuri instructs me to 'open the fucking door, Eric', and I refuse.
"No. You are imposing. You are being a horrible guest."
"Fine." Yuri shrugs, and then proceeds to knock loudly on the door. She takes a deep breath, and yells; "Hey boyfriend! Open the door!"
I clap my hand over Yuri's mouth just as the door swings open. Finn is standing in the doorway, looking amused.
"Whose boyfriend are you looking for?"
Yuri points at me, still unable to speak with my hand on her mouth. I use my other hand to cover my own face, embarrassed. Finn looks at me for an explanation, still amused.
"Care to tell me what's going on, 'boyfriend'?" Finn asks, obviously trying not to laugh.
"Both of you are going to be the death of me, I swear." I let out a frustrated sigh. I take my hand off Yuri's mouth. She immediately starts talking.
"Hey there, boyfriend." She reaches out to shake his hand. "I've heard so much about you. Must take quite the man to charm my Eric over here. Invite me to the wedding please, but before you do, you need my blessing, sadly." She makes a face of mock sympathy.
"Yes, ma'am. I'll be sure to do just that. Thank you for trusting me with your son here." Finn's face is serious as he shakes Yuri's hand.
"Oh my god, stop. Yuri, go home please. I will call the fucking police on you for tresspassing if you don't start running."
"Aw, c'mon," Finn and Yuri whine in unison, and then grin at each other.
"Alright, alright. I'll get out of your hair. It was nice to meet you, boyfriend."
"Nice to meet you, too, soon-to-be mother-in-law."
Yuri waves and pats me on the back before jogging away down the hallway. I sigh and turn toward the door, where Finn moves wordlessly aside to let me through, grinning.
"So what was all that, babe?" Finn asks, obviously entertained by Yuri's remark.
I sigh. "I'm sorry about... all that. Yuri can be a lot. And you can stop calling me that now. Yuri's long gone." I close the door behind me.
Finn turns and steps toward me. I take a step backwards, my back now against the door.
"What if I don't want to?"
My face turns red as I look up at his face. I'm sure he's teasing me, from the smirk on his face. He places his arm on the door next to my head and leans down so our faces are level.
"Well?" He asks, looking me in the eyes.
