Chapter 1.
Shadowfax.
Whistler, always Whistler, the place where things are not what they seem, home to ancient kings and ancient creatures.
Among its forgotten villages was Shadowfax, a place that was once a duchy, but over time was forgotten, isolated, and simply became the perfect home for the guardians of life and death... The Gargoyles...
So bloodthirsty and powerful that they could enter both worlds without giving anything in return; they were vigilant guardians who lurked in the shadows, turning their prey to stone.
…They are usually immobile guardians or symbolic protectors…
However, some people who have survived their encounter attribute to them more sinister nutritional needs, such as absorbing life energy, feeding on human emotions, or even consuming meat…
Gargoyles are said to awaken at night and hunt, devouring small animals or even wandering souls. They feed on despair and fear, making them truly terrifying and lethal creatures, primarily to humans, sirens, and harpies.
However, when these stone beings find their soulmate and their lifeless heart begins to beat, doom awaits their unfortunate companion, for gargoyles, traditionally seen as silent guardians, made of stone or rock skin, represent stability and protection.
Their love would be stoic, violent, obsessive, an unwavering commitment, like a fortress that resists the passage of time. and transcends the boundaries of life and death, so that even in death her partner would not find rest.
Because obsession goes far beyond the unhealthy, it goes far beyond the limits, and when these limits are tested, the result will be catastrophic, because not even death can save you...
Inside the Forest of Lost Tears, a near-mortal battle was taking place between two completely incompatible species: the wolves and the harpies. This left the Alpha of said pack, named Connor, with no choice, but to turn to Doctor Impossible for help. He perhaps gave him the solution to his problem, but also the gateway to hell for someone else...
He told him that in Shadowfax he would find the stone-eaters, also known as gargoyles, beings believed to be extinct, whose existence no one remembered because they were too cautious, going unnoticed, almost like the last breath of a dead person...
The gargoyles put the test in a fierce battle against the skullcrusher, one of their best warriors alongside the Alpha, to see if they could think of lending them their aid, which ended in a temporary alliance…
Mateus, the leader of the gargoyles, had agreed to go to the forest with his warriors and once and for all put an end to the harpies, the bones of discord in this conflict over the pack's territory…
The Stone Legion, as they were also known, warned the Alpha that this alliance would not last forever, that they would fight for him because they believed in his purpose and not out of blind loyalty, but above all, they told him to return to his people, because time is very short and slips like sand through one's fingers…
