Chapter 10 – Ash Cities
Day 8 Post-Breach
Global Casualty Index: 71% Confirmed
Status: Collapse Imminent
Berlin. Johannesburg. Tokyo. Rio. Toronto.
Their names still echoed in memory, but the places were gone. Not conquered — erased.
The demons did not build. They did not rule.
They only unmade.
And where they passed, even time seemed to fracture. Clocks spun erratically. Children aged overnight. Statues wept black liquid. Cities became mausoleums of silence and static.
Atop the ruins, Dominion Towers rose. Silent. Geometric. Clad in black steel and reinforced glyphite.
And within each tower, a daemon-core throbbed — semi-bound demons, fused into AI lattices, watching all who survived.
This was not peace.
It was sedation.
It was the illusion of control in a world already lost.
Dominion Stronghold – Vorrash’s Throne Node
Khedra stood on a dais within the Central Nexus, watching drone footage of Earth’s final resistance points.
The United Nordic Militaries were gone. The African Reclamation Accord had been consumed. The last Vatican Wards had collapsed in flame and ice.
Khedra turned to Vorrash, whose form now pulsed through a crystalline column behind the throne.
“The Saints gather,” Khedra said. “But they are scattered. Untrained. Wild.”
Vorrash’s voice flowed like oil through the room.
“And yet… they hurt us.”
“Then we crush them.”
“No,” Vorrash murmured. “We bleed them. Slowly. They must understand what despair feels like.”
The Monastery – Hall of Lanterns
Sariel stood before six new Saints — chosen not by blood, nor lineage, nor prophecy.
They had bent but not broken.
They had believed when no reason remained.
Kaito stood among them, firelight in his eyes.
Each had awakened a different element — not through spell or chant, but through truth:
-
Aras, who stilled a hurricane to protect the unborn.
-
Noah, who healed a blind soldier and set his bones in golden light.
-
Lira, who raised the dead from beneath an avalanche… and walked away with snow swirling at her call.
Sariel nodded to Kaito.
“This is not a war of numbers. It is not a war of weapons.
This is a war of wills.”
Kaito stepped forward.
“Then let’s show them what it looks like… when we don’t break.”
Target: Alexandria Dominion Tower – First Strike
Alexandria’s Dominion Tower rose from a drowned city, its glass surface glowing red beneath the rising sun. Inside, thousands of corrupted humans walked like drones, their thoughts silenced by ambient glyph radiation.
But they were not soulless.
They were trapped.
Saints dropped from the sky like firebirds.
Aras led the breach — wind howling in his wake. Kaito struck through the lower decks like a burning spear, and Lira used her voice to command the shadows to flee.
They didn’t destroy the tower.
They unbound it.
The daemon-core howled — its voice no longer confident. The trapped souls were released.
Some wept. Some screamed. But they were free.
The tower fell — not in rubble, but in light.
Vorrash’s Reaction
Deep within the Nexus, Vorrash screamed — and for the first time, his containment pulse destabilized.
“You gave them fire!” he roared.
Khedra paled. “It’s controlled. We’ll—”
“No,” Vorrash spat. “Faith is not controlled. Faith is not coded. And you... fool... you have awakened what we buried.”
