The Japanese place had a really cozy vibe. It was one of those restaurants that was loved by the entire neighborhood, but wasn’t fancy or high-end and, above all, had the greatest food you’d ever tasted. It had a sushi conveyor belt that people could access from their own private table or on the joint bar. The group, now reduced to just Liam, Ryan and Andrea, sat at the bar.
The leader sat in the middle of the other two teammates and the chaos from the karaoke place carried on here. Ryan kept grabbing plates and plates of sushi and so did Andrea. They were scarfing the little rice delicacies down and stacking empty plates quickly with each plate clicking loudly as they set it down. Liam thought about how there was never a dull moment when among these people, they were always so energetic, loud and annoying. They had so much responsibility yet they currently acted like they didn’t have a care in the world.
He pondered as to how someone such as his master was always losing to these- these idiots. He thought how it must be nice being that powerful or that lucky.
“I’m not gonna lose to you this time!” mumbled Andrea as she continued chewing down on a piece of California roll.
Ryan swallowed, clicked his tongue and replied cheekily, “Yeah, right! Dream on!” While those two kept busy, an eerie darkness was brewing on Ryan’s left side. Liam did it. They both were too distracted to notice anything. The man used the syringe that was conveniently concealed in the sleeve of his hoodie beforehand and used it to inject a potent poison. As the sushi plate came from his left on the conveyor belt, he quickly swiped his hand over the food while pretending to grab the soy sauce that was at the edge of the belt. Thus, injecting it with the poison.
He was quick and smooth, and he poured the soy sauce to refill Ryan’s empty soy sauce plate. “Thanks, bro!” smiled the leader. He dipped his sushi in the black liquid and continued to munch down. A few plates later, the final plate was put aside at last.
Triumphant, Ryan gloated, “Ha! I win! First to ten.” Andrea leaned back in her bar stool, swung her head towards the ceiling and just groaned in response, being too bloated to fight back or even joke effectively.
She clearly ate way too much food. A pained, soft groan came from Ryan’s direction.
