Alister sat at his desk, tools littering his surroundings as he worked on his new mask. He took pride in his mask as it was the only way he could show his emotions. Tesla walked in the door, seeing her friend slouched over his work. “You've been up since that incident three days ago, why don't you get some rest?” She asked, clearly worried, to which Alister responded with a quiet alright. Standing from his chair he turned around and Tesla could see the lack of sleep was taking its toll. Alister had dark circles around his eyes and his cheeks were beginning to sink in.
The clock tower in the nearby city struck, the bell ringing to signify midnight, Tesla commenting that it was now four days. “Look, I know it's hard but you do have to rest. You killed him to protect the rest of us and we don't blame you for that.” Tesla reassured Alister knowing his past trauma caused him to have trouble sleeping when he took a life. Helping him out of his shirt, Tesla led the tired Alister to his bed, laying him down. While taking off her clothes, Alister closed his eyes thinking to himself, “She worries about my past trauma, but I know Tesla's past is my fault too.”
Tesla crawled onto Alister, her head resting on his chest as she listened to his heartbeat, the two enjoying the other's warmth as it brought peace and security. Alister felt himself drift to sleep, opening his eyes to a familiar sight. His body floated in the ocean, a sky full of stars glistening above him. Alister began to count the stars above, the cold water splashing against him as he counted. “1022,1023,1024,1025,1026?” He paused after saying the last number. “Why's there only one thousand twenty five stars? The only way a star doesn't show up is if,” His thoughts trailed as he shot up in bed. Tesla was nowhere to be seen, the lights outside mimicking sunlight.
Rushing up, Alister began to drive back to Shackles tower, his thoughts racing at the fact that Apollo might be alive. Pulling up on the tower, Alister drew his gun as he walked around the large tower. Walking towards the back, he saw a large puddle of dried blood resting on the ground. Looking up, Alister saw the ledge far in the distance, “If he fell here, who took his body?” Alister muttered to himself when a voice asked “That's the million dollar question isn't it?” Whirling around, guns aimed, Esdeath stood there, her helmet on while wearing a suit.
