Chapter 2
Now Johnathan wasn’t an A ranked student in his beasts class, but he knew a Spikor when he saw one. It was a large gecko like creature, but had a snake tail with a spick on the end instead on hind legs. Johnathan remembered this thing being really strong, but not so powerful in the speed department. Johnathan looked back to Albert and nodded, he activated his speed spell and ran as fast as he could.
He yelled to Albert. “This thing’s going to be hard to hit! I don’t want to de-exist random things and people!”
Albert nodded, and created an illusion around them. Hiding them from sight, then ran as fast as he could around them. Casting another spell to make a wall of glass as he did. “I’ll guard the civilians, but you gotta take the final shot!”
Johnathan nodded, and had a pretty good plan. He smiled, “Stay there, don't save me! I have a plan!” He ran to the creature and stood in front of it, “Hey you overgrown lizard!” He yelled, “I thought you’d be more scary!” Even though it was terrible banter it seemed to make the creature more mad. It lunged toward him, and he shot a freeze blast. The monster froze in place.
“Nice! How long unti…” But Albert didn’t get time to speak, Johnathan was trying something new. He didn’t think it would work at first, but seeing it now he thought it would work quite well.
Time slowly stopped, and the lizard started to move the slightest amount. Johnathan completely froze time by then though. He smiled as he walked around the frozen city block, then he got to work. He found the creature's weak spot, but found it hard for himself to hold up the time freeze for long. He pointed his hand to the weak spot and cast De-exist on the creature, it vanished and time rewinded. The creature was gone, but Johnathan just needed a moment.
“...ll the…” Albert stopped as he saw the Spikor gone and Johnathan standing in a firm position, “What did you just do?”
“Good question, and the answer is…” As Johnathan finished his sentence the Spikor reappeared and was blasted into desolation by Johnathan, “Right there.” The Spikor had left a few bumps in the road, but nothing much.
Albert was still frozen, but from shock this time. “How did you do that?”
Johnathan shrugged, “Just felt natural.”
“Slowing down time and killing a monster within literal seconds, felt natural to you?” Albert said, looking strange from the response of Johnathan.
Johnathan shrugged, “I’m a weird guy.”
Suddenly a bunch of Rangers appeared where they were, one of them nodded to the others and approached Johnathan and Albert. “So, you did this?” They pointed to Johnathan.
He nodded proudly, “Indeed, and in quite a way, I love the synchronicity of it all don’t you?”
They looked around at the piles of meat and blood, “Quite. Now get back on the bus, and we’ll handle the clean up.”
Johnathan nodded and turned to Albert. They went back on the bus which cheered for them when they entered, and they sat down. “Not a bad first impression I’d say.” Johnathan said to Albert.
Albert shook his head, “Not bad at all.”
