Chapter 4

Johnathan and Albert walked out of their room and down the hall to the open area, where a few rangers and what looked like teachers were. They walked past them all and found a room with strange symbols over the top of the door.

“Is this it?” Asked Johnathan.

Albert nodded and pointed at each of the letters, “Hero Hall, clear as day.”

Johnathan looked to Albert who looked back, they both nodded and opened the door. A feeling of amazement entered Johnathan’s stomach when he saw the room. It wasn’t like any other room he’d seen in the MDSC, there was no floor in certain parts, and only a few walkways passing through the room. The middle was a small circle where a tall white-haired man stood moving his finger in the thin air.

Johnathan looked at the Master Knight, just standing waving his hand in directions. When the Master Knight finally turned around he smiled warmly, “Why hello my new apprentices, welcome to Hero Hall!”

Albert was smiling, but Johnathan still had questions. “Why are you just standing there and moving your hand? That was really creepy.”

The Master Knight laughed, “Why yes, I see how that could be assumed as creepy. Would you like to see?” He held his hand out, seemingly to try and give them the ability to see whatever he was seeing.

Johnathan walked up to him and took his hand, while he was doing so everything around him changed. Around him was a blue dome of words and letters, different languages and people. He saw so many things. “Ok, Albert, get in here. I think you’d like to see this.”

‘Breaking the fourth wall here, so before I continue I must say if you value your hearing please cover your ears for the exceedingly loud scream you're about to hear from Albert.’

Albert screamed in amazement, making Johnathan jump, but the Master Knight seemed unfazed, “Is this what we’re here for?”

The Master Knight nodded, “Yes, I have been seeing more. Pressing matters arising and I will need you both to watch and keep up my Hero Files.”

Albert was jumping, as he usually did when he was excited. “So we get to look through the most informative device in the Multiverse and record things in it!”

The Master Knight nodded, “Yes.”

Johnathan was baffled that anyone would even give him this job, but found it amazing. “Alright, how do we do that exactly? What do we have to do?”

The Master Knight nodded, “Good question, you both shall search the multiverse…” He waved his hand to pull up multiple videos of the four dimensions, “And report them, write down their stories and abilities, then report them to me. I shall send word to you all if I find someone who is worthy of this. You will also send me potential students that have figured out they have magic, and make sure I know to bring them here.” The Master Knight smiled at Johnathan, “Can you do this?”

Johnathan nodded, “Let’s do this.”

Albert nodded intently, “This is going to be the best job ever!”

The Master Knight left Johnathan and Albert to do their jobs in peace, they found two students. One from the super realm named Nick Parker, and someone from the human realm named Delilah Stewart. Albert searched through a bunch of files, and found the Xeno Force was in them. Immediately Johnathan pulled up every file they had, and looked through it. It had their identities, every mission they had ever gone on, even the secret ones. It also had their full magical and power ability. They kept looking through the files finding new people to report to the Master Knight and the Rangers, but very little monster sightings, which kind of annoyed Johnathan. Every day the Rangers left to go fight some cool monster then they sent information to them about the monster and then they’d write it down, it went on like this for the next month-ish. They went to classes and hung out with Naamah most of the time, and when they got back they had oodles of notes and reports to go through. The hall had different sections, but it wouldn’t be like you’d think. It turned out you could go into the abyss, the pathway would extend for you, and they could look through the files from there just like they could in the middle. The weird part was every file cabinet was for one person, and there were so many papers in them they had to make a separate spot for them in the middle dome. They found some cool people, apparently their teachers had gone on their own adventures together. Ms. Baal had helped liberate a monarchy with the help of the current Emperor, and Mr. Liberta had stopped an interdimensional war at some point. Pretty cool.

‘Hello again! Fourth wall Johnathan here! Just about to warn ya, this isn’t the coolest thing in this multiverse.’

One day they were looking through a bunch of the Master Knight’s notes, apparently he knew about all of the Xeno Forces futures, powers, and even their secret identities right when he made the MDSC. The Master Knight walked into the room smiling.

“Hello my apprentices, how is the work going?” He asked.

Albert nodded, “Really cool! I found so many books and notes, I’ve learnt more from this place than I could ever learn from a book!”

The Master Knight nodded, “Good! The student requests you’ve sent in have been perfect, and the sightings have been exact.” The Master Knight looked to Johnathan, “I’ve seen you’ve been digging into the backstory of your world.”

Johnathan froze, then nodded. “Ya, I want to know how it all became and what happened.”

“What do you mean?” Asked the Master Knight.

“Like, there was some pattern that must’ve been followed by someone to have ended up here right? It couldn’t have been all random.”

The Master Knight shook his head, “You still don’t understand the point of chaos, do you?” The Master Knight waved his hand, and a file Johnathan was quite familiar with appeared. A video appeared of four boys running into a cave while being told to explore. “Was that not an accident, and not entirely random?” He twisted his hand again, and another file appeared. This one of a demon carrying the Heart Forge, an artifact of great power. “Was that not entirely random?”

Johnathan nodded, “So, the mages wait for the right opportunity and then we intervene?”

The Master Knight nodded, “When we think it is right. That's why I take all these notes.” He grabbed a note Albert had been looking at, “‘Christepher Méndez, the infamous Dark Dash. He has been a pain in the multiverse before and he’ll probably be again, only Red Dash must stop him though. For it has been foreseen.’” He placed the note back into the dome and it stayed in the air. “That was a note on the so-called Dark Dash, a man riddled in betrayal. He was lost at a young age from the Elf realm, and forgotten. He rebuilt his life and refound his magic, but at a cost. Not being born in the elf realm he never developed proper magic, and because of that he went insane and desired the power of magic.”

“So kind of a never gonna figure out situation.” Johnathan said.

The Master Knight shook his head, “He isn’t cooperating while in holding, and the NEXUS organization is too busy with other superpowered beings.”

“What’s the NEXUS organization?” Asked Albert.

The Master Knight moved his hand over the dome again, and several new files appeared. “NEXUS stands for, Nexus of Extraordinary eXperts Uniting for Supernatural defense.”

Johnathan shook his head, “That name sucks.”

The Master Knight nodded, “Yes, quite. It is harder to find though, if you heard that that was what NEXUS stood for would you prefer that or this.” He moved his hand again, and a name labeled Fake appeared. “Next-gen Extraordinary Xtremis United Superheroes.”

Albert pointed to the rake name, “It’s still silly, but it makes more sense than that.”

The Master Knight nodded, “Precisely, NEXUS is well a part of the MDSC and magic community. Multiple mages have been working there for years now, and it holds very dangerous magical beings.”

“Like Dark Dash.” Johnathan remembered out loud.

“Yes, Dark Dash, or Christepher Méndez, was affected by magic and given extreme gifts. Instead of making the world a better place, he decided the whole world should have been like him, and for him to rule over them all.” The Master Knight moved away the files, “And because of that he is in immense holding for immense magical misuse. A terrible sentence that will keep him there for generations to come, Genex has also now become part of the magical community. Run by Mr. Jacobs, it helps clean up and hide any magic in the world.”

“So wait,” Said Johnathan, still wrapping his head around things. “The Xeno Force defeated Dark Dash and since Mr. Jacobs was Dark Dash's disciple; he was put in charge, and by then he was already part of the magic community. So with the power he held he helped by eliminating any kind of Knight’s Magic from earth?”

The Master Knight nodded, “Yes, he is. Same for the Demons. Varzoth, the Emperor, has put out multiple search parties to make sure the world is free of any magical danger.”

Johnathan nodded, “So the world is under our thumbs then, we have control over everything.”

The Master Knight visibly twitched from the word, ‘Control.’ He closed his eyes, “As long as the multiverse is open there will be chaos, and as long as the multiverse is open there will be, ‘Control.’ There is no avoiding that, that was the mistake the Controllers made.” The Master Knight snapped his fingers and multiple news reports showed up, people in white clothing doing terrible things. Killing civilians, robbing stores, controlling creatures against their will. “This is what we’re facing, complete control gives people too much and too little of a choice. We need a balance so that chaos gives people more peace, and control gives more people purpose. I regret our teachings sometimes are one sided to chaos, but I assure you we try to have both Chaos and Control.”

Johnathan nodded, starting to see his angle. “So why are we fighting it then? Shouldn’t we let control grow at times?”

The Master Knight smiled, “I think you of all people already know that it has.” He nodded to both of them and left the room.

Johnathan thought on his words, he did know. He knew the Controllers still controlled parts of the dimensions, some in different names. Important’s, powered, controllers. It all depends on the place and purpose, but some were just greater than others. Control caused death for millions, Chaos has healed trillions.
