Chapter 5
Johnathan lay in bed thinking of what the Master Knight had said, he believed it truely. Chaos is Control in a way, and Control is obviously nothing without Chaos. They needed each other, but the Controllers were causing more than Control. They were causing the apocalypse. HIM himself, they were trying to kill millions if not infinite people. Johnathan got out of bed, and went to his class notes. All they said was how Chaos had battled Control, and Chaos won. Obviously that wasn’t true. Control still survived. So what was this? The Hero Hall had taught Johnathan so much, but just always gave him more questions than answers.
Johnathan closed his notes and thought, ‘How does Control differ from Chaos?’ Obviously the answer was kind of simple: Control had power over everything and Chaos had no control and let things do their own thing. That was it wasn’t it? Free Will. If someone was to be in allegiance to another person, then they would be compelled to do anything for them. Johnathan would do anything to help out Albert and Naamah, he would do anything to help them. Control. They used powerful magic that thrived on Chaos, was that just it? Chaos. No, they had something else, feelings. Feelings that could go either way, anger, fear, resentment. People in general were Chaos, and control was part of that. How did they make it so both are equal though? Johnathan felt a gust of wind come from behind him, he turned to see a dark figure. The spy.
Johnathan grunted, “Not now. I’m thinking.”
The spy nodded, and in a dark scratchy voice spoke. “Thinking of Control, you question your teachings.”
Johnathan shook his head, “I’m thinking of how things work in this world, if power does come from Chaos.”
The spy nodded, “And what conclusion have you come to?”
Johnathan closed his eyes and felt the reality magic flow into his hands, “Control is nothing without Chaos, and Chaos is nothing without Control.” He looked up, “If you take the Mages out, you have no meaning, but you forget that.”
The spy hissed, “You don’t know your own thought’s boy.”
Johnathan smiled, “I think I finally understand magic. The only part I was missing was that I had to find it on my own.” He smiled, “And that you and your cult are wrong.”
The spy jumped at him, but Johnathan just moved aside, making them roll to the ground. “All this time, watching, hoping that I didn’t have to kill you and your friends. I thought you’d see Johnathan, out of all the people here, you’d see the truth.” They lashed a clawed hand at Johnathan, but he activated his speed spell. Then landed a good right hook on the guy.
“I do see the truth, maybe a bit late, but I see now.” Johnathan smiled, “One day, this world will no longer be one or the other. One day, Control and Chaos will not reign. Both shall flourish.”
The spy stopped for just a second, maybe processing Johnathan’s word's giving him a clear shot to make him freeze. He teleported them to the main hall, and created a large dome of an infinite shield. Still making sure the Master Knight will notice them.
“Which shall reign now?” Asked Johnathan, “Chaos, or Control?”
The spy looked at him, but Johnathan couldn’t see their expression behind his mask. “I can’t hurt you Johnathan, not yet. Good luck, and good riddance.” The shield fell and the spy ran out of the room, disappearing.
The Master Knight and multiple faculty staring at him, “What has happened?” Asked the Master Knight.
