Chapter 6

Johnathan and Albert were taken to the Master Knight’s study, Albert was very confused and was halfway between awake and asleep. He kept mumbling things as he usually did in his sleep, but was still awake to an extent.

“Johnathan,” Said the Master Knight, “Tell me exactly what has happened tonight.”

“Well,” Johnathan said, “It’s a bit strange.” Johnathan explained the thoughts he was having about what the Master Knight had said to them, and how he couldn’t sleep. So he went to his notes to see what their teachers were really teaching them, and just as the Master Knight had said their teachings had complete chaos written all over them. When he was doing this the spy had somehow snuck into their room, and tried to kill Johnathan. Again. This time he was able to defeat the spy, somewhat, but he was able to get away. He told him how the conversation with the spy had gone and how he’d taken the mages side and how the spy seemed to have been leaning into the teachings of the mages. When he was done the Master Knight and Albert were nodding in agreement.

“I believe you Johnathan,” Said the Master Knight, “If you did try to change the beliefs of this controller, and they did start to listen. I believe that they had just what you had, they’re own epiphany of magic and chaos. I believe it was right to put you in the position of it, and that you have never been better at magic then now. Especially with what you have demonstrated tonight.” The Master Knight stood, “I think it is time for you to make your decision for the path you lead.”

Johnathan looked at the Master Knight confused, “What are you talking about?”

“Do you choose to go down the path of true magic and create chaos, but try to control it as much as you can. Or shall you choose another path, the choice is yours, and I have been waiting for you to decide.”

Johnathan looked to Albert who just shrugged, seeming confused himself. Johnathan understood. He thought he made his decision to go for three years at the MDSC, but he realized where he stood. The job wasn’t meant for him to have, but for him to learn. Johnathan nodded, “I understand why I’m here.” 

He looked up at the Master Knight, who was smiling. “Which is?”

Johnathan nodded, “To join the NEXUS, and help the MDSC grow.”

The Master Knight smiled, “Your path has been chosen, now your only job is to go down the way you chose. Chaos is nothing without Control.”

“And Control is nothing without Chaos.” Johnathan finished, he smiled. “Where do I sign?”
