Chapter 7

“Wait, what did you do?” Asked Naamah once they all met up to discuss what happened.

Johnathan shrugged, “I chose to join NEXUS, it’s a part of the MDSC that helps in controlling dangerous threats. Obviously there’s still plenty of that here, but when I graduate. I’m going to work for NEXUS.”

Albert nodded, “I honestly think it’s a good idea, I’ve been looking it up in Hero Hall and it’s a good compound. They’ve captured hundreds of threats in the human realm, and with the help of a reality mage will probably capture many more. Maybe from other universes.”

Naamah sighed, “Sometimes you need to think before you do something, Johnathan.”

Johnathan shrugged, “Albert agrees with me, and I think it could help me have… You know, a purpose.” Johnathan sighed and sat on a window sill, “I’ve been looking for a purpose in the magical world since the beginning and I didn’t even know back then. Now all I can think about is what I’ll do as a magician, and what I could do to help people. I think this is my best shot.”

Naamah groaned, and nodded. “Ok, yes it does make sense. I guess, if it’s only after school. Then ok, I’m on board. How do you get in though?”

Johnathan nodded, “Good question, the Master Knight said that NEXUS needs strong magic users that have a wide variety of magic. I need to learn more Reality magic.”

Albert nodded, “Ok, that should be easy.”

Naamah looked to Albert, “The Master Knight gave you a proposition, didn't he?”

Albert slowly nodded, looking scared. “He said if I wanted, I could come back to the MDSC as a teacher when I graduate.”

Johnathan was shocked, he didn’t see the Master Knight give Albert a proposition as well. He guessed it was probably when he wasn’t around. He knew Albert really wanted to do it, he could tell. “You should do it, we’ll technically be working together. Not in the same branch sure, but you’ll be able to go to any dimension you want. With just a few classes.” He looked at Albert trying to tell him what he was thinking. Albert would be closer to Naamah, and they’d be able to continue their relationship.

Albert smiled, seeming to understand what Johnathan was meaning. “Ya. Ya, you know you're right. That would be really cool, plus we’d all be able to see each other whenever we wanted.” Albert looked to Naamah, “If that’s ok.”

Naamah smiled, “That’s perfect! You’ll both have jobs, and we’ll all be able to communicate easily! This’ll be the best!”

Naamah hugged Albert, making him blush, and then they got to work with school. Over the last few months, they had a lot of work to do. Especially with the Hero Hall, which the Master Knight said he’d take care of, and with school work in general. Albert and Johnathan would be put back into their normal dorms, and continue school work the next year. Chaos had ensued, and it gave them an amazing ending. The best part was it had a perfect balance. Chaos had reigned supreme, but they were now able to control their futures. They started packing up soon after and started going home, it was just a week until they left, but Albert and Johnathan had been ordered to be sent home early. They were both out of energy and presumably served their tasks very well.

Now came the hard part talking to Ms. Gorgan. “Hey Ms. Gorgan.” Said Johnathan, quite tired and not one hundred percent ready for the next few years.

“Hey kid, I heard you accepted the job in NEXUS. What exactly do you think your job is going to be?” Ms. Gorgan asked.

Johnathan shrugged, “I don’t know, all I know is that it’s part of the superhero community.”

Ms. Gorgan nodded, “A superhero fanatic, I like it. Those superheroes end up in good spots, some have been allowed into the magic realm multiple times.”

Johnathan nodded, “The Xeno Force.”
Ms. Gorgan shook her head, “There’s a new hero in town, he was part of the magic community for a while, but decided he wanted to go off on his own.” She leaned closer to the window, “What do you want Johnathan?”

Johnathan smiled, “I want to be one of the greats. I know that now. Have a good summer Ms. Gorgan.” He turned and walked away, and met up with Albert. “Ready?”

Albert looked at him weirdly, “For what? Our jobs are only for after we graduate.”

“I mean for summer.” Johnathan said.

Albert smiled, “Of course! We’re gonna do some cool stuff! I was thinking we should go to the Museum of natural history, and see what they got wrong because of magic, and maybe even the zoo. And obviously the Statue of liberty.” Albert looked at Johnathan, “Let’s have a great summer, again.”

Johnathan nodded, “Let’s add a bit of magic into it though.” Johnathan smiled, and thought of where his new job would bring him. “I think life should have a little of that.”
