Chapter 5
Johnathan ran through the halls towards the Master Knight’s office, sometimes even flying to try and get the hang of it. He eventually just used his time spells to speed himself up. He made it to the room, with the doors wide open. Multiple people were there, The Master Knight, Mr. Liberta, Mr. Jacobs, Mr. Galac, Mr. Hatcher, and Ms. Bailey. They all nodded to him once he entered the room.
“So,” Said Mr. Liberta, “How did this happen exactly?” He said looking at Johnathan.
Johnathan sighed, “I don’t know. I just felt a weird pulse in my mana pool, then it was being overwhelmed. So I used my magic to try and make it grow, whatever it did gave me new magic and more mana. I don’t know who did this, but whoever they were, they wanted me out of the picture somehow.”
Mr. Hatcher nodded, “The spy I presume?”
Ms. Bailey nodded, “I agree, Sorra has been trying to read minds around the school. She isn’t able to do any large spells without the council's permissions though, so we aren’t able to exactly find the spy right away.”
Mr. Galac floated off the ground, “If this person did try to somehow kill Johnathan by giving him more magic, then it’s someone who doesn’t know what they're doing.”
Johnathan flinched at that, and the Master Knight immediately looked to him. “What must you say Johnathan?”
Johnathan breathed slowly, “I know the spy is in the school, and that they are in my classes. I also know that there was someone who wasn’t at the dance a few years back.”
The Master Knight nodded, “That’s a good start, but how do you know they’re in your classes?”
Johnathan sighed, “Well, they somehow know my fighting strategies. The way they tried to kill me, if it wasn’t for that spell, I would have been dead. They somehow know what I’m good at, their someone close enough to know what I can do.”
The Master Knight nodded, “Fare point, how do you expect this will play out then? If they do know your strategies for magic and combat, you will need to be on high alert. Maybe even change your fighting style all together.”
Johnathan nodded, “Ya, that’s what I was afraid of.”
Mr. Jacobs kept snapping his fingers, creating lightning as he did. “Perhaps we make some kind of protective shield. I know this isn’t my specialty, but I’m sure there’s some kind of enchantment for it.”
As the adults kept talking about how to protect Johnathan, he kind of slipped out of reality for a bit. Ya a reality mage slipping out of reality. It felt like he was moving towards a small statue. Johnathan had read about it before. The oracle. A being powerful enough to see through space and time. Something to tell your future, only if it gave it to you.
“Johnathan!” The Master Knight yelled.
Johnathan snapped out of his daze, and stood right in front of the oracle. Hand almost touching its own. He backed up, and put his hands on his head. The Master Knight snapped his fingers and the oracle twitched, and went limp once more.
“Johnathan, what did you see?” Mr. Jacobs asked.
Johnathan shook his head, “I didn’t see anything, waves of space were just flowing by me then I was just. Bomb, there.”
The Master Knight nodded, “Is this feeling familiar?”
Johnathan nodded, remembering the feeling he felt at the dance. “But different, more powerful. Last time I felt it happening fully, but this… I couldn’t feel anything, just the pull of energy.”
The Master Knight nodded once more, and looked back at his staff who all nodded back. “Johnathan, this is the Oracle. A being of immense power, able to see present and past. It chooses its prophets, and it might see you fit to be one. First I must tell you, this prophecy could be very difficult and cryptic. Sometimes, even deadly.” The Master Knight looked at Mr. Jacobs and Ms. Bailey.
Mr. Jacobs nodded, “Ya, one way or another.”
The Master Knight continued, “We must warn you that we have no idea what the Oracle will tell you, but we will help you try to understand it.”
Johnathan looked from the Oracle to the teachers and nodded, “So, I just ask the Oracle?”
The Master Knight nodded, “You tap it on the head, and it should have its fun.”
Mr. Jacobs did a small laugh, “Be careful kid, that thing sometimes can take away everything from you.”
Johnathan hesitated, but nodded. Then he turned to the oracle, and placed a finger on the head of the oracle. “What is my prophecy?”
Nothing happened.
Johnathan turned around, “Nothing happ…” Then he heard a loud hissing sound from behind him and the Oracle’s head looked up, and he jumped.
Mr. Jacobs laughed, “Every time.”
A raspy voice came from the Oracle, “Ah, Johnathan, I’ve been waiting a while. I see you already know your destiny! Good. Your prophecy goes much deeper. You are to face the controlled spy. You will stop when you see their face. Your memories will toil with your mind. Reality will have grown on you.” The Orical moaned, “A friend will smile in your face, then snarl at your back. Your friend will divide you all. Then another will have your back. You shall fight the spy, then if you must. Blood shall be spread.” The Oracle groaned with a raspy breath, “I tell you this for the greatest! You shall not change it, for it is foreseen!”
Johnathan was frozen from shock, he was pretty sure that was the worst possible prophecy someone could have gotten. He turned to the teachers, “So,” He said, “What in the word does that mean?”
