Unwavering Adventure of the Elf Prince

Chapter 4 (Determined will)

Chapter 4 (Determined will)

Sep 16, 2025

Ericson was in a sitting position for a while after his mother left the room. He was staring at the window contemplating his next step of actions. He had a clear goal set on his mind, ‘I have to avenge my brother and to do that I have to get strong’. ‘Might is right’ he thought to himself. But he also understood the importance of resting, his body was still weak due to all the beating he took. Two more days passed with him resting on the bed and Matilda tending to his daily needs. But he wasn’t sitting idle for a moment aside from the necessary sleeping, eating and bathroom breaks. He ordered Matilda to bring multiple books for himself to study. Among them he had a book regarding Magic which was ancient fairy tale. As magic users were really scarce. The other two were regarding tactics, politics and ancient wars. History was important, or so he was taught by his brother Tharion.

On the third day when Eric felt that he has fairly recovered he started the day by stretching and warming up his body. Before that he ordered “Matilda prepare my personal training room”. Matilda acknowledged “Yes your highness”. Eric recovered fairly quicky and why wouldn’t he? Elves were blessed by nature to heal faster and be more resilient than any other race. For which they were always grateful and had great relation with nature out of all the races. They built their structure in ways that doesn’t or does as less harm that is possible. They build homes on top of trees without cutting them and guiding the tree branches to follow a path that brings the signature of an elven home. “Your highness, the training room is prepared and restocked with equipment”. “Thank you” With a warmed-up body Eric left the bed room with jumping and running form.

In term of strength Eric could take on kids 5 years older than him but like before against many bullies he would soon succumb to his weakness. But one on one, no one of that is only five years older could take him on. In the training room, Eric was training his body with weights to strengthen his body. His immediate goal was to build further strength. But he knew only that is not enough to overpower multiple men. He needed something more, something definite. He was thinking about such stuffs. He understood he needed more practical guides and real-life experience than the book he read few days ago.

Understanding the importance for his learning experience Eric decided to write a letter to the king asking for ‘Sylvar’ the commander of royal guard who is boasted to be the strongest and most veteran among the elf soldier. There would be no perfect teacher to teach him other than him. The king seeing a formal request from his son didn’t think much of it and approved immediately. However, Sylvar was still required to do his royal duty of guarding the king on official occasion. He was allowed to teach the prince when such occasion was not in progress. The first day of the training began by measuring the prince’s strength. Sylvar was not unaware of the prince since he saw he grow up to be a kid he is. There were no unnecessary pleasantries required. Sylvar even through knew Eric was outstanding his peers, still put through him intense weight training alongside running with heavy weight vest of 50 kilogram which was hard but still doable for Eric. After a year did Eric become used to the training and then did his master-initiated sword and hand to hand combat.

Initial task of the training? “Make me fall to the ground” and the task was impossible for Eric. First 100 times he was knocked out by kick or elbow of his master and then few of the time Sylver threw dirt from the ground toward his eyes. “That’s unfair”. “Ha, ha …. everything is fair in war or so what the humans say” Eric’s eyes narrowed realizing the truth of the words. Every time he was knocked out Sylver left a chuckle which he couldn’t help even if he tried. Even Sylver knew the task that was given to Eric was close to impossible due to the age difference. And it actually is a big deal. When the elves reach the maturity age of 30 years, they gain exponential growth which is a vast amount of strength and agility and reaction speed.

It was the 110th time when Sylver was just getting bored and started to yawn. Then eric took deep breath and charged him with a top of the lungs loud scream which shocked Matilda who was being a by stander and also his combat master. The scream was made so close to his ear that he had to use his both hands to cover the ears. Which was a big opening or Eric. But alas with a smirk on Sylver’s face he easily deflected him with his knee striking the stomach. Eric fell on the grown but didn’t stop there, he took a fistful of dirt and threw it toward Sylver’s eyes. Catching sudden blindness Sylver was truly defenseless this time and Eric charged with all his strength and finally the master fell to the ground. With eyes of disbelief and a smile he stood up straight and put his hand on Eric’s hair and said “Well done kid, it seems to me you have started to use your brain”. “Fighting is all about using everything you have at your arsenal and in your surroundings. You can train all you want but it is the smarter one who thinks that wins in the end and winning is what matters.” “Hone your speed and strength and use your head to think your next action” Eric finally left his frustration and smiled “Yes master”.

Days passed by with Sylver teaching all sort of practical combat skills and real-life teachings that broadened Eric’s horizon. As a veteran Sylver lived up to his name as the Commander of the royal guard. The tutelage under Sylver lasted for three more years. Before leaving he parted with his student “I won’t be giving you any parting gift, but with some words I believe whole heartedly which I have engraved in your everyday training”. “Your training must have a purpose; you must have a purpose and so does your every action” “Don’t keep your mind idle and train the hardest”. Eric replied “Master my purpose is set and I will see to it that it is realized”. Sylver with a light smile nodded and left Eric to train on his own.

1580 a 20-year-old Elf boy with golden hair reaching the chest was sweat drenched in the training ground with a sword double the size that weighted around 120 kilograms was being swung in a horizontal arc and in vertical arc. In these five years his body had reached the adult elven warriors. Once shorter than Matilda boy had outgrown her in terms of height. This was of course none other than Eric. Each swing was so heavy and so fast that there was a buzzing sound in the air as if the sword was cutting the air and left a void in its place. A five-hour visualized training with that sword had exhausted him to the point of collapse. With a 15 minutes breather he gets up and ran through the city with heavy weight clothes and after an hour of running reached the edge of the capital where the tallest mount stands tall. Looking from the bottom it is a scary mountain, one misstep and one might fall to their death. Taking dry dust from ground to get rid of palm sweat and smudging it with his hand he gave a big finger spread clap and started climbing and the climbing as if a monkey jumping from one tree to another but on rocks. Due to continuing to doing this for last five years it became very natural to him. The purpose for climbing this tree was to develop his core and grip strength. Within 3 hours he had climbed the tallest mount of the elf kingdom, which in truth a man would be able to climb in 3 days. Even then the success rate was another story. But this is an elf we are talking about with tremendous strength. After his mount climbing is complete with some rest he would start his journey toward home. But training didn’t end there, he opted out of refreshing himself and going to the training hall directly and there 15 adult elven guards were waiting for him. As soon as he entered the training ground, they rushed to attack him simultaneously. But Eric wasn’t with any weapons. He was out of energy; due to the travel and all the training he did the whole day. He quickly dodged the first slash of the first attacker and there he was focused on unbuttoning his shirt. Understandably so, his weighted clothes had metal in them weighing about 120 kilograms. He unclothed his weighted cloths in a hurry and parried two more simultaneous attacks. The moment those cloths left his body he felt as light as a feather. Then he took a dep breath and waited for the attackers to attack. Three attackers nodded and attacked together. Two from the front and 1 at the back. Eric ran toward the one coming from his back and with his momentum of running he slid down the attacker and while sliding down he grabbed both his foot and made him fall. The fallen warrior was quickly kicked by him on his chest and there was a crackling sound of something breaking upon the impact. The two coming at him didn’t stop their momentum and attacked him. But Eric was faster and before those two attacker’s attacks could connect Eric had already deflected them by punching their wrist and elbow and then he proceeded two strike their chest and like before a crackling sound was heard and they both fell on the ground. 5 minutes later all the fifteen warriors were on the ground. Eric said “Thank you everyone for the help”. After Eric said those word did everyone get up and proceeded to leave the training ground. They were all fighters arranged by Matilda and yes this was Ericson’s daily routine.
