EPISODE 1:
This is nothing for an assassin and thief like me! We do this every week, and at this point, I’m surprised the royals haven’t simply given up or tired of me. I’m sure they don’t even miss the gold I swiped, but my people sure do appreciate it. Though…as much as these days are peaceful, and I hope they’ll last forever, there have been odd disappearances lately in these streets. Some say a monster has been unleashed. I say it’s bullshit meant to scare us from doing business as usual.
The Royal Guards continue calling my name like the fools they are, and I jump high, up onto the ledge of a building. As I hoist myself across to an open balcony, I hear them yelling, “Yvain! We know you couldn't have gone far, come out or face the wrath of the King’s Guard! We’ll give you one last chance to redeem yourself, Yvain! Before we find you first!”
Really… I lick my lips. I'm flattered they know my name, I suppose I'm getting quite famous around these parts. “Heh. Good.”
“All right! We warned you!” they shout again. “We’ll have to use force now, you leave us no choice! We’re coming, Yvain!”
But of course, these idiots run right past me.
I can't help but laugh to myself, as I reach into my pocket then take out an apple I’d stolen on my way here; I bite right into it. “Man, I don't envy that poor King. I wouldn't feel good if these were my guards.”
He should have hired me instead, whilst he still had the chance. Now I’m twenty-five and bitter, and all I want is his head.
I gaze around to where I've landed as I chew on the fruit. Sweet, just how I like it. It seems I'm in my part of town again—at least, the entrance of it. If I gaze to my left, up ahead, light illuminates the marketplace and its many citizens who are blissfully unaware of what life’s like down here. I doubt any one of them will ever have to kill a man to survive, but as much as I envy them, part of me feels grateful that I'm not so helpless anymore.
Yvain, world renowned thief, does have a better ring to it than Yvain, poor abandoned orphan child.
I turn away from the light and look straight into the darkness of Home. Defunct buildings greet me just like yesterday, and as I get up and swallow the last of that apple, dusting off my clothes and cape, I ready myself to head back. But…
YOUR NEWEST CHOICE ❤:
A) Something’s wrong, I realize, once I'm done patting myself down. My enchanted dagger, that I stole from a bunch of traveling royals last week, is missing…and I have a strange hunch I may have left it and the worst place possible: the King’s castle. “Shit.”
B) Before I can do anything, a dark, shadowed hand reaches for my lips and drags me into the apartment which adjoins the balcony. I know I should feel panic, yet…there is something warm and enticing, about the feel of these claws against my skin.
C) Lurking in the shadows below, I see a large shape far bigger than any human I've ever known. It moves between the darkness with the swift agility of a beast. My breath catches in my throat. I freeze, as my eyes start to search for a path I can use to escape…
D) A sharp pain makes itself known around my ribcage. When I pull my hand away from my clothes, it is covered in blood.
