Year ??? The Storm Crawler Charge
Rhea woke all on her own, with her arms she searched for someone that was no longer on this bed. The more time passed, the more she forgot who it was that she was in search for. Her arms slumped with a sigh, using the little energy she has to get up. It took everything to get up this time, the gravity here feeling like doubled than normal
With a few confused blinks, she recognizes being in her parents' room. She can hear talking right outside the curtain, she followed it to the source with a simple slip between the curtains.
Just before her, she saw her parents. Her father sat cross legged next to the crude fireplace. Her mother hunched over another dead animal carcass; Rhea could barely tell what it was since the skin was already off it. What Rhea really came to notice is that she cannot smell it or anything at all.
The toned female grumbled at her father; her arms covered in blood to the elbows. They have their usual train of conversation; her father always dared a request for her to skin elsewhere. She would always insist that it was easier to transport this way.
Her father squinted at her mother, almost ready to bicker some more but he caught sight of Rhea and his face it up. “Fire cub! You’re finally awake!”
He hobbled right over in an instant, going for a hug right away. This hug threw her off, something about it felt empty. Did I not feel warmth from it?
Over his shoulder she caught a glimpse of her mother with a scowl. “Cub you'll sleep through an earthquake if we let you!”
“Sorry...I” She blinked to make sense of this. The intense sense of Deja vu clouded her mind. This happened before, she started to look at her hands which are the size of an adult, and they were her own, but something felt wrong about them. This happened a long time ago.
Her father released her from the bear hug, to pet her head. "Sweetheart, sleep is great for a growing child. Watch she will never sleep once she gets my age."
"Pfft, you act so old" The words came out of her mouth, and she covered her mouth, they were her words but not exactly. This is too weird, her skin crawled. She wanted out of this strange mindscape. Her father turned to her now, his unrivaled smile spreads and as silly as she could remember it.
"I am old enough to know that you are stronger than any sage that I know."
This is new, she shook in place and the world around her disintegrated into ash. Even her mother and father were victims to the ash, their bodies gone in a flash. No matter how much she tried to grab onto them, the ash slipped right through her fingers.
She is now alone in this plane of existence, darkness all around her. Tentatively, she took one step forward and the screams echoed all around her. The screams rocked her center, disembodied faces forever at anguish everywhere she twisted.
Not too long after the flames, they spun around and around her, the screams of multiple people pierced through the flames no matter how intense the flames became. Rhea tried to scream to tune it out, begged, and even prayed. The screams stayed and she couldn't ignore them, she fell on her knees hugging herself the hot tears streamed along the curve of her face. The flames only encroached upon her; it started eating away at her long curls. Then the fire ate at her skin, no pain but the sight brought fear in her heart. Her hand or what was left of it reached for the light above her. This light is round and bright like the sun, the very same sun that Manuk lives in.
I am going to die….please help me!
The light shifted with hue not like Manuk’s throne. The flames from this orb fighting her own as if……it wanted to help her?
The effort bears no fruit. Where she stood shook abnormally, as if the ground below her is about to cave in and swallow her. Her heart told her this is her end.
