The Way He Looks

Ace

Ace

Sep 20, 2025

Ace was the only Alpha in his whole damn town. He was perfect in his eyes. He's as stereotypical of an Alpha as one can be; his mind, entire being, has all belonged to this ideal structure of his parents, that Roseberg had created since the moment Ace became an Alpha. Ace stared at this sudden anomaly, and felt almost nauseous. He couldn't believe it, he refused to, being the only Alpha, without that pedestal he had been on his entire life, every single thing ever done, countless days and sleepless nights, summers, vacations, holidays, working. Ace's whole identity, entire existence, felt dual and fake. "If I'm not the only Alpha in this town, then what am I...?" Ace thought internally.

When Ace was five, his mother told stories about Alpha's granted, they were in poor taste, most were egotistical, psychotic power power-hungry abusers, but the way they were written about was completely sugar-coated with rose colored lenses. Every page had an excuse or a reason to sympathize with these creatures; his mother's soft voice sounded like a lullaby, and that was the beginning of dread and fear of what might become of him. School wasn't different; the teachers always let Ace get away with everything, and students would flinch or try to be friends just to come over to hear their parents' rants about how perfect he was for their child. He was only six. Ace began to get used to it, life went in a blur,  he questioned the reality and definition of a real childhood. Ace was always able to define it in every way possible, but could never experience it or know what it felt like.

Ace had finally realized he was staring at this irritating creature for about five minutes straight, and managed to bring himself to take a begrudgingly long step forward between the crowd of students whose whispers and giggling filtered through the area. The Alpha's head was resting in his slender arms, his stupidly poofy hair spilling like a waterfall over his arms. "Is he asleep? How can he sleep with all this bustling noise around him? Just the thought of him taking this attention for granted really pissed me off." Ace's thoughts struggled to comprehend such things. "Ahem! This is my seat." Ace said almost too proudly, but the Alpha just simply lifted his head without a care in the world, his eyes drooping slightly, and struck him as odd, but a basic brown nearly consumed his pupil; that's a bonus point for Ace's ego because his eyes were a light hazel, Ace paused for a moment a bit ashamed for trying to compete with the Alpha already. Ace tenses slightly at the Alpha's gaze; it's not as sharp as his, but it still makes him uncomfortable. Ace hated it, with an envious gaze that looked stupid compared to this blank stare. Ace sighed internally and waited for a response that He knew wouldn't come.

"You shouldn't have come late," The Alpha accompanied that stupid sentence with a sleepy grin, and that really stupid grin irritated Ace. Forcing a smile to keep his dignity, or what's left of his pride, but internally, Ace was infuriated completely and utterly, as if he had control over it in which he didn't; it was just one slip-up, he was already late, had to go to a stupid dinner later, and now an ALPHA has stolen his damn seat. Ace sat down at the desk next to him, not that person who was sitting here would care, it'd be an honor for Aphla to even graze their desks, sitting here was agonizing for him, as his perfect seat by the window, was where he could feel the sun glinting on his tired, cramping hands, anger boiled as he was too irritated to study. What's worse is that this asshole is still staring at Ace with this stupid look, and time seems to be going slower than a damn snail.

Internally, Ace thinks this day couldn't possibly get any worse. Ace was already cussing, at least in his head, and his parents already treated that like he'd just eaten gum off the floor. Ace's father had once replaced his toothpaste with soap, just so it's ingrained that cussing was shameful, and his mother wasn't much better, as she would give him a disgusted look that made him a chill run down his spine at the thought, shaking his head at the thought. Ace looked up at the ceiling. This is the first time he'd ever been unable to concentrate, flexing his cramped hands before balling them into fists, looking over to the left with a cold and dark expression, "Do you mind?" A gritted out as calmly as he could, seeing a flicker of something he couldn't gouge out flashed in the Alpha's eyes before opening his mouth, "If you think I'm looking at you, I'm not. I'm looking at her." Ace flushed red with embarrassment at such an obvious lie, but Ace couldn't prove it, and to add salt to injury, he was talking about Lidia, and she was now looking back at him, face red and all.

I'm trying to find a way to cram this into my beautifully messy life. My child is so weird. The first introductions to Ace and Kole will be first-person, and the rest third, sorry.

Ace was the perfect boy, a bit arrogant, but it doesn't matter; ideal in every way his parents want; the top of his school, perfect, looked up to as the only alpha in his small town, or at least that's what he believes. He doesn't remember the last time he smiled, but as long as his parents breathe down his neck, all he can do is force it to be the pinnacle of the town until a new student comes to town to ruin his life.
