After the tense meeting at my home, the atmosphere grew heavier. My parents wanted me to focus on school and exams, to stay away from what they called a “reckless romance.”
One day, my mother spoke directly:
“For now, keep your distance. If this love is strong enough, then a few months—or even years—won’t matter.”
I stayed silent, my heart aching. He understood and smiled, though sadness flickered in his eyes:
“It’s okay… I’ll wait. No matter how long.”
In the days that followed, we met less and less. Only short messages remained, and the occasional fleeting glance in the school hallway.
Late at night, staring at my phone screen with only the words “Good night”, I couldn’t hold back my tears.
The distance wasn’t just from my family… it was from the fear inside me. The fear that one day, we’d drift apart, leaving only memories behind.
