The Boss, my biggest mistake

Sara

I wanted to tell my mother the whole situation, but I didn't want to worry her except that I had three days left until I could finally see her again.

Since I couldn't count on my mother, I took a taxi that dropped me off in front of Madison's house.

I rang the doorbell and waited. She opened the door with a big smile. When I saw her, I couldn't resist and began to cry uncontrollably. She was very surprised, but she immediately let me in and guided me to her couch.

-Sara, you're worrying me, what happened?

-Maddie treated me the worst.

"Why? Did you tell him about the pregnancy?" I asked.

-Yes, he couldn't believe it, he thinks I slept with another man so he wants me to have an abortion, he won't take responsibility.- I sighed and crossed my arms.

-That man will regret it, he can't be serious, he doesn't look like that kind of man.

"I don't want to be near him, I don't even want to see him, he's a monster, I don't care if he regrets it!" I exclaimed, crying again.

-Sara...

"The worst part of all this is that he thinks I did it on purpose to take advantage of his fortune. I always thought that when I got pregnant I would have a man by my side who would take care of me. If you notice, history repeats itself. My mother didn't have a man during her pregnancy. I never met the bastard who abandoned my mother. My son will never have a father in his life. I don't want him to carry the same pain I carry for a long time." I sobbed and repeatedly ran my hands through my hair in an attempt to fix it.

Maddie tucked me in and hugged me as I dumped everything on her lap. I felt really bad.

"You're strong, Sara. You can get through this alone. Thousands of mothers do. My mother and I got through this alone, your mother and you, and there are thousands of other examples. Don't even think about abortion. Or do you want to? You know that whatever decision you make, I'll be with you," she asked, looking at me closely.

"Of course not, Maddie. I couldn't live with that on my conscience. I want it. Even though we were careless about the condom, I'm going to take responsibility."

******

I arrived at work on time, time had passed normally until I received the call from Kennet.

-Sara- I looked up at Kennet's call- I need you to come to my office.

I swear I thought I was going to die, I nodded and he closed the door.

I couldn't be fired now; I have things to pay, and it'll only get worse with the months and the arrival of the baby. I gave myself words of encouragement before I left, because I needed them.

There were two men inside, I recognized them immediately, they were his lawyers.

Shit, I wasn't going to deny that I was a lot more nervous around him now.

"Have a seat," I nodded. I sat down in the seat across from the desk and waited for someone to speak.

"You already know my lawyers," Kennet says. "I called you because I want you to sign a paternity challenge document. It will support me in case you want to sue me for something related to your child."

"I don't think it's necessary. Believe me, he won't need anything from you," I spat out angrily. I honestly didn't expect this.

-I just want to be sure, I have a huge fortune, I don't want you or him to try to claim it at some point- he said pointing at my belly.

-Oh, then my words are of no use to you- I stated.

-In this world nothing works like that- he says looking out the window at the big city.

"If you refuse, we will take legal action against you, miss," one of the men said.

-All I want right now is to keep you away from my son, of course I'm going to sign it.

Hurt and humiliated beyond belief, I look at the sheet of paper on which is the renunciation of paternity and other rights such as taking care of the child, not looking after his needs, among others.

I take the pen and sign. This devastates me. I thought he might reconsider. For God's sake, we're talking about a human being, not a company's stock. But if this is what he wants, then it will be so. My baby won't have to beg for love where it won't be given.

-I won't do charity work for you, you're an employee like everyone else, so I won't take special care of you.

-I don't need them, nor did I ask you for them- I raise my head, because I still have dignity.

-Well- says Kennet- that's all, get back to your work.

I quickly leave the office because I don't want to explode in front of him and head to the bathroom. What am I going to do to make this not awkward? Because I'm not quitting this job. I'll have to see him after the birth to look for a new job; they're not going to hire a pregnant woman.

I leaned against the sink and looked at myself in the mirror for a while. I would make it through no matter what, and I wouldn't allow myself to ever look back.

My boss was interested in me, but not in a romantic way, more of a sexual one. My life was exciting for a while. I was dating Kenneth, we had fun together, and I tried things I'd never have dreamed of.

Although all this madness ended on the worst note.

I never imagined how ruthless he could be toward an innocent person. Part of him.

My mistake was getting into my boss's clutches, in this case, his bed.
