In the morning Blaine, Daenerys, Bartholomew, and Beatrix gathered in the leader's den. Beatrix had his satchel with his map, and his book was displayed in front of Blaine. The book had golden lettering appearing before them. It wrote…
Once upon a time, a mother qilin lost her baby during birth. She lived, but not without great suffering in her heart. She kept his body close to hers and prayed for forgiveness, assuming she must have sinned.
A traveling mother toad saw her grief as she passed by, “What hurts you so, my dear?” asked the toad.
“My darling baby boy. He didn’t make it,” she said through tears.
“Do you believe there is any reason for such a horrid thing to happen to you?” the toad placed a gentle hand on the qilin’s shoulder.
“No!’ she cried, “I’ve been kind all my life, I pray, I laugh, I love, I give,” she paused, “But…I guess I just wasn’t good enough,”
“Nonsense, my dear!” said the toad, “It is just as life had it, sometimes these things happen to the very best of us. But, there is something you can do, to help your baby boy,”
“Oh, please do tell me!” the mother howled.
“Come with me to the river I live in. Me and my children will help your son,”
And so they both went on through the forest, through mud, ponds, shrubs, and trees, until they reached a gleaming, ruching river. It was the purest water the qilin had ever seen. She could see every ground of sand as the bottom of it, and there were green tadpoles swimming in it. The toad stepped into the water and the tadpoles gathered around her.
“Give me your boy,” she said. The qilin obeyed and placed her baby in the hands of the toad. She placed the baby in the shining water with just his head out to breath.
The tadpoles made fast circles around the baby, and soon the water started to glow golden. The toad splashed some water on the baby’s forehead and sang a song in tongues.
The mother closed her eyes as she prayed for her baby to make it to Heaven with the Tengokus. But instead of answering her in her mind, they answered her with the awakening of her son. The gold shone on him like the morning sun and his eyes were emerald green.
“Oh, thank you!” she cried, “Thank you!” She ran to the water and nuzzled her baby out of the water.
“Your boy is special,” the toad stated, “Take good care of him, he will be divine one day,”
“I will name you Yijun,” the mother smiled and held her boy.
Yijun is now grown up, and he is waiting in a mountain. He is 13 sunrises away, at the highest point of the mountain he resides in a warm cave. You can find him there meditating and writing prayers. He is your next mentor.
“Wow…” Beatrix gasped. Everyone was silent as they took in the story.
“Why is Beatrix so special?” Bartholomew asked.
“Well…he is part of a plan bigger than any of us down here,” Blaine said
“What do you mean ‘down here?” Beatrix questioned.
“Just…the Tengokus have made a plan for him…and we need to follow their directions,”
“But why me?” Beatrix pressed.
“I don’t know, Beatrix. You just need to have faith in them and yourself, okay?”
Beatrix nodded his head and stopped asking questions. Blaine's seriousness often made Beatrix go quiet.
“Does this mean you are going now?” Daenerys asked.
“Yeah, we probably should, it’s early enough in the morning to start our journey,” Blaine sighed.
“This is gonna be awesome!” Bartholomew shouted, “It’s just gonna be me and my best bud!”
“Do you seriously think I would let you both go alone?” Blaine glared at Bartholomew.
He rolled his eyes, “I guess not…but you know we definitely COULD do it!” Bartholomew defended.
“Alright, Beatrix go say bye to everyone, then meet me and Bartholomew at the entrance to the camp,”
“Alright!” Beatrix exclaimed. His paws took him gleefully around the camp, saying bye to everyone, even Duvessa.
