Whatever happened last night was something I’ve never seen before. It’s usually just a dark figure that crawls on top of me and lays across my body like a paralyzing blanket. This time, I could feel the woman’s knees digging into my chest and her cold, boney hands that twitched slightly as they grasped my face. It just felt too real.
I wait at the bus stop, thinking about the homework I didn’t do last night… but my thoughts keep getting interrupted by the words the woman had spoken to me.
You’re special, you know.
It’s
You have a gift like none other…
Too
You must find me…
Much
Before they find you.
To
It’s almost too late…
Think
Emilia.
About, so I put the idea in the back of my mind.
I look at my bus coming up the street. However, something in my peripheral catches my attention. It’s the sickly looking woman from last night, standing across the street. Her dark, sunken eyes staring right at me. She swayed and leaned with the small gusts of wind, looking like she would fall over and disintegrate into dust. As her gaze grew more, and more uncomfortable, dark blood began to trickle from her eyes, like a small leak had sprung from her tear ducts.
That’s when my bus pulled up, hiding the woman from my view. I speed walked up the steps and heaved myself to the left side of the bus. She had completely vanished. The only thing that remained was the bloody carcas of a large crow that had been opened up from its sternum, the lungs and heart removed. I slumped down into my seat telling myself you’re just hallucinating or something. It’s not real.
School is boring, as always, but the only thing on my mind was that stupid creepy lady!
I’m special? I have to find her? Before they find me? Who even are they? And what’s with the crow?
When I leave, I meet up with my friends. This time Cammie had practice in the morning, so she came right on time.
“Uhm… I don’t want to go to the spot today.” I say with fear and some hesitation.
“What? why not?” Demy says.
“Uh…” I don’t think I should tell them about the creepy ass weird woman that was leaking blood and then turned into a dead crow. What would they even think? “I heard there was… a bear.. in the woods.” It’s so obvious that I just made that up.
“-Oh, okay. So the park again?” Josh didn’t notice.
Sitting in the park, we get to hear more about cantaloupe and fish.
“I don’t know too much more about the plot right now, but I do know cantaloupe is cheating on fish with someone.” Dem drops right in to our laps.
We all quietly freak the fuck out!
Demy continues.“But I don’t know with who.”
“Cantalope? Cheating? Wow.” I say in a very sarcastic tone.
