“I asked you a question, you little tramp! What are you hiding?” George says as he forces her hands out of her pockets to see nothing in her hands but a bottle cap. “Tsk, typical of you to keep trash.” He says as he shoves her to the floor. He raises his hand in the air, making Lucy flinch and embraced herself.
“Do we have a problem here… George?”
Lucy opens her eyes to see who said that. She sees Hank leaning on the door frame with his arms crossed, swinging a pair of handcuffs on his finger. George backs down quickly. “No. No problem at all.” George says reluctantly as he leaves the room. Lucy hurried to get up and dust herself off. “Muffin is ok, Hank- I mean Detective - detective… detector. Detect the heck outta-” Hank puts a hand on her shoulder, she quickly stops talking. “You okay?” Hank asked.
She quickly looked at the ground and stayed silent. Hank sighed and lifted her head up a little bit. “Hey, you wanna go downstairs, Mr. and Mrs. Willingsons’ chef made dinner. You want some?” Lucy smiled and nodded her head. “Yeah. I'm starving!”
They all gather at the table and eat silently. Lucy was trying not to look at George but it was like his eyes were lasers burning a hole in her head. She hated the feeling of being watched. Hank notices her body language and stands up. “Lucy, would you like to switch spots with me? It's closer to the sweet potatoes.” Lucy looked at everyone and swallowed the lump in her throat. “No… I'm okay.” She said quietly. Quincy and Amy looked concerned but didn't dare say anything, fearing George's temper.
“You sure? The sweet potatoes are sooooo good. Mmm mmm, I think they're calling out to you.” He says trying to make her comfortable. She smiles and giggles, “okay okay.” She gets up and they switch seats, Quincy and Amy both sigh with relief and smile to themselves.
Dinner went by quickly after that, for everyone had different things to do. Quincy was helping Alicia with her stuff, Amy was trying to talk to George but George wasn't paying her any attention since he was more interested in staring at the Two-headed sister's rack. Lucy was walking towards her room when she heard giggling in the Ringmaster’s room.
She quietly peeked through the door to see who was inside the room. She saw Adam, the Ringmaster, laying on the bed with the maid straddling him. His fingers caressing her thighs as his hands wander up her dress. Lucy blushed with disgust, but couldn't turn away. Her eyes screamed in pain when she saw their late night affection. Her breathing quickened and she fell backwards on the floor. She scurried into her room and hid under the bed.
“I want to forget, I need to. I hate it. I hate it.” She says to herself. “Stupid stupid stupid, why did you look?” She says with tears streaming down her face as she pounds her fist into the side of her head.
