“What about the daughter? She might have been disgusted with her father for sleeping with a woman a few hours after the first murder… damnit I still have to solve that. Who was the victim anyways? The body was burnt to a crisp.” He asks Lucy. “It was the Lion Tamer, Holly. She was super nice.” Lucy said with a hint of sadness. Hank sighed and gave her a side hug. “I'll catch the killer… don't worry.”
They hurried to the study to see Alicia comforting her father. “It's okay, Dad.” She says softly while rubbing his back, attempting to comfort him. “There was …. so much b- blood.” He said shakily as he stared at the ground with wide bloodshot eyes.
Hank cleared his throat to alert them that they were there. “Um, Alicia. I need to talk to you in private.” Alicia looked at him with disgust. “Whatever you think happened, it didn't. I didn't kill her.” She said quickly. “You're quite defensive for a girl who is ‘innocent.’ Did you know that your father was seeing-” Alicia cut him off quickly. “Stop, just stop. I know what you're trying to do. I don't care who my father sees, was it a bit off when he did it after Holly's death… a little, but he was stressed. I didn't kill anyone. Period.”
Hank was getting angrier by the second, thankfully Lucy put her hand on his shoulder. “M- Maybe you should take a break. Let me talk to her. Hi Alice!” She said joyfully. “It's Alicia, Lucy.” Alicia said with a small smile. “Fine, but I'm gonna be outside the room if you need me.” Hank said as he got up and walked out of the room.
“You okay?” Lucy asked. “I'm worried about my father. He's very shaken up from seeing the maid in a mangled state.” Alicia says with worry in her eyes. “If only Holly was still alive, she'd know how to make him feel better. My father always had a soft spot for her.” She said as she looked at Adam. Lucy glanced at him and raised her eyebrow. “ Why didn't he cry when we found her dead?” She asked bluntly. “Pardon?” Alicia looked at her with wide eyes as if she said something foul. “Well, if he had a soft spot for her and cared about her a lot, like you said. Shouldn't he be upset about her death at least?”
Alicia looked at her with anger, “what are you implying?” Lucy looked at her with a blank face and paused as if she was thinking. She smiles warmly and giggles, “I'm sorry, what was I saying?” Confused, Alicia looked at her with her lips pressed together tightly then faked a smile. “Nothing, sweetie. You run along to your detective friend.” She said, trying not to point out the obvious. Lucy hurried out the room. Alicia sighed and rubbed her eyes, “That girl has never been right after her head injury George caused.”
Hank sees Lucy coming out of the study, “ did you get any answers?” He asked. “Hm? Oh that! Um … come on brain, remember- oh! Adam had a soft spot for Holly but he didn't cry when we found her dead.” She said with a hint of suspicion. “Interesting. He didn't cry but had a soft spot for her… hmm… grief affects people differently. Some cry. Some suffer in silence. Then you have the rare few who cope with sex, like Mr. Shaky in there.” He says with annoyance and disgust. “Oh.” Lucy said as she looked at the ground. Her stomach turned when she remembered seeing Adam and the maid together. She quickly tugged his sleeve and said with pain in her voice, “I saw them last night!”
