The Fallen Lord of Mozoa

Midnight Breeze

Midnight Breeze

Sep 26, 2025

After everyone had finished eating, I decided to sit in the main Nave, My eyes examining the statue of Karoth. His body looked like that of a well-worked-out man, but his face had no expression because no one had ever seen his face before, although He is said to be the most awe-inspiring entity in all of Mozoa.

"Staring at the statue of god karoth again, Kroven?" Ms Lena said as she walked into the nave from the dining room

Ms Lena always wears her habit, which is nice and clean, and never had a single wrinkle, but the most interesting thing about Ms Lena was not how clean she kept her habit, but her amethyst eyes, which were truly a wonder.

My eyes wandered to Ms Lena, then back to the statue.

"I still don't understand why he sacrificed himself for the distant races, even though all they have done is cause war and destruction," I replied with a confused look on my face.

Ms Lena sighed, "Maybe I have been giving you too much credit, Kroven, the great god Karoth didn't sacrifice himself, he blessed us by giving up his life for the four great races to prosper and advance Mozoa to unbelievable heights."

"Still, the war and destruction could have be-"

Ms Lena let out a loud sigh. "It's your birthday, so I'll retell you the story of Karoth the great god once again."

She gave me another soft smile before getting up and walking towards the altar to retrieve a delicate piece of paper that looked like it could crumble with even a light breeze, then walked back and sat next to me.

"Listen, Kroven, because I won't retell this scripture again, [during his 10th year walking the newborn Enesta, Karoth decided that he wanted to bless upon us the ones below him with gifts that would help us advance further, so he cut open his throat and let his blood spray upon our world, soaking it with lathium. Granting the people with strong powers that they soon would call the four affinities: Wind, Earth, Water, and Fire. Then, he turned his body to Lathamite and spread himself around Enesta so that we would be able to collect such power and turn it into weapons and potions to help us fight against the ones that come from the water]."

She rolled up the delicate scripture and gave me her usual gentle smile. I stood up and let out a sigh, "Thank you, Ms Lena, for sharing the Holy scripture with me once again."

"You're very welcome, Kroven. Now sense the sun has gone to rest, you should too," she replied in a heartfelt tone.

"Yes Ms Lena you get some rest too I will see you when the sun awakes" I said in a obedient tone my face serious.

As I traveled upstairs, where the children and the nuns slept, I walked over to the door where my bedroom stayed.

"Hey Kroven," an ominous voice said behind me. I stumbled and almost fell over, but luckily, the wall caught my face, and I was able to stay upright after pushing myself off the wall. I hastily replied, my voice the opposite of confident, "I-In the name of Karoth, who is that?"

"It's me, Selina," she replied in haste before letting out a stifled laugh, "you're truly an idiot, aren't you, Kroven?" wiping away a tear of laughter from her face.

Looking away in embarrassment, I replied, "That was not funny, and I am far from the word stupid, Selina."

Selina was a little bit older than me and loved to mess with all the children around the church, which of course included me, although she did do her chores and help the younger kids with their studies.

She always kept herself nice despite her rowdy, over-the-top attitude. Her dark porcelain skin was always a magnificent sight since there wasn't anyone else in the church with her looks, but I always thought she was quite beautiful, and she never let anyone's words bring her down.

"Anyways, what were you talking about with Ms Lena in the nave?" Selina said, completely ignoring my words,

"We were just talking about God Karoth," I replied, still rubbing my face,

She looks me up and down. "Well, LRM and Lathium practice is tomorrow, don't suck like always."

"Whatever, Selina," I replied, still furious but not wanting to give her a reaction.

I looked away, furthermore turning the doorknob to my bedroom door, and stepping through, closing it behind me. The room in front of me was pitch black, with the moonlight barely fading through the cracks of the wooden shutters. I instinctively grabbed the candle left on the wooden shelf and walked over to the nightstand, grabbing the Lathium fuzes. After dragging the tip on the striker, it lit. I put the flame on the wick, lighting the candle. The darkness slowly disappeared. My room was quite dull, two shelves, a wooden bed, and a wooden box in front of my bed containing the items ive collected over the past two years.

I closed my eyes, let out a long sigh, furthermore, laying a hand over my eyes, "234 No Lathium." I muttered softly,

I stood up and dragged myself to the dark oak box in front of my bed, opening it with a slight creak coming from the hinges, and picking up a leather notebook, moving the belt off, I opened it up, my fingers flipping through the pages and stopping at the most recently used page numbers and words written all over it all ending with the same thing.

[NO LATHIUM]

Closing the dark oak chest, I dragged myself again to the nightstand, took the quill from the holder, dipped it in the ink, and wrote on an empty spot.

[234 No Lathium] staring at what I had just written, frustration appeared on my face. "dammit," my voice barely making a whisper.

After putting everything back, I blew out my candle, and the light disappeared.'

...

"MOVE,"

The strange man said, his voice echoing through the night,

A beaten-up man was leading the way. "I-It's right through here, s-sir," the beaten-up man pointed.

After a few minutes of walking through the trees, a clearing opened. There lay a few dozen houses, a church, and a nice field of wheat. "Is this it?" the strange man said, his eyes squinted to see the opening clearly.

"Y-yes, I promise I sold the nun at the church a Velvurge's fur," the beaten man pleaded.

"I see, ENTO," the strange man yelled.

A Short man scurried forward, "Y-Yes, Lord Irestion. "Head back towards the rest of the group and let them know that in one week's time, we shall take this village." His voice was stern and demanding of respect.

"Yes, of course, Lord I-Irestion." The short man's voice lacked confidence and was obedient. The short man scurried off.

"Will you let me be free now, Sir, like you promised?"The beaten-up merchant smiled nervously,

"Yes, I always keep a promise, but first tell me how many women and children were there and how many guards too?" Irestion replied with a carefree voice and a soft smile on his face.

The beaten man's face lit up with hope, feeling his mind starting to clear and his heart start to calm.

"Of course, sir, I would say there are about a couple of dozen women and a couple of dozen children and about a dozen guards too, you guys could take them out, no problem, sir."

"Thank you, this is invaluable information, you have done well," Irestion said, his voice calm.

"Of course, s-sir," he agreed,"

A promise is a promise," Irestion said, in one swift motion, his sword entered through the merchant's neck and out the other,

His once cold, blue sword was hot red and surged with unbelievable power ."That is true freedom," Irestion said, his voice cold and serious.

...

"Nesto, stop messing around and continue meditating. Your body won't be able to control Lathium properly if you don't know how to make it soar through your veins with perfection," Ms Lena said in a heart-piercing voice.

"Yes, M-Ms Lena," Nesto said in a hasty voice.

"Perfect Job, Selina and Norm," Ms Lena said in a proud tone.

Ms Lena looked around and focused her eyes on one person, and let out a sigh, "Okay, everyone, rest for 15 minutes. And then prepare for combat using your Lathium."

Her eyes remained on Kroven. "he still can't produce a single ounce of Lathium, how disappointing."

Frustration and sweat covered my face. 'I still can't use any Lathium, at this rate, I'll never be able to surpass anyone here.' "You're taking too long to move out of the way, Kroven," Selina said from behind me,

"Sorry." I quickly said as well as moved out of the way.

After taking a quick deep breath, I started to walk to the open field.

When I began to fall, my face hit the ground, slow and fast at the same time, laughter stirred from my right.

"Jeez, Kroven, you're so clumsy I thought you would have sensed my foot with laithum. Oh, wait, you can't use laithum, can you?" he chuckled. His brown eyes stared down at me with a mocking tone.

I picked myself up off the ground and wiped my face as well as my tunic. "I'm sorry. I'll watch where I am going next time," I replied, my head lowered.

'If I fought him now, I would only lose, dammit, why is such lathium wasted on this scum?' "Yeah, whatever. Stay outta my way unless you want me to blast you to the deeps," He said, pushing his brown, wavy hair back, his voice mocking and a smirk on his lips.

Suddenly, a fast wind hit me, and a pair of grey eyes flashed by

Nesto, enhancing his body with Lathium, threw a punch at Norm. It was as fast as lightning. There should have been no way Norm could block it, and yet Norm stopped it after quickly setting himself in a defensive position

"You bastard, I'll kill you if you mess with Kroven again," Nesto said, steaming, coming from his body, his face contorting in anger

"Oh really, I would like to see you try, remember what happened last time you thought you could 'Kill me'. Nesto"

Norm immediately responded with a lightning-fast kick to Nesto's head. Nesto, timing it perfectly, grabbed Norm's lightning-fast kick. If he had to try to grab it without enhancing his body with lathium, his arm would have surely been blown clean off.

Norm grunted with frustration, and his face contorted in rage

"IM' GONNA KILL YOU NESTO."

Norm activated his Lathium into his right leg white swirls wrapping around around it like a snake he shot forward with double the speed from before then doing the same with his right hand, the white swirls wrapping around his fingers, and his entire hand, he was as quick as sound itself.

Nesto didn't try to dodge; instead, he activated his lathium. A spear of water formed in his hand. He backed up, leaped forward, and swung right before they made contact. A wall of steel formed between them; both looked ahead in shock and worry, and tried to stop, but neither could, and a loud bang sounded through the open field.

"In the name of Karoth, you idiots are gonna get us all into trouble," Selina said, with a look of disappointment and disgust on her face.

I stood up and walked over to the steel wall. "Nesto, are you okay?" I said with concern,

he gave me a shaky thumbs up, and a smile. Even though his body was enhanced with lathium, he was bleeding from his mouth as well as his head, and he was missing even more teeth than he was before. Norm, on the other hand, was in even worse condition, his arm broken from the speed of his wind affinity.

"Selina, you bitch, I'll kill you, I'll rip you limb from limb." Norm's only emotion was pure rage; his broken arm not even fazing him.

"You won't do anything of the sort, Norm," Ms. Lena said, with no gentle smile on her face this time, only anger.

"Whoever is responsible for this, come forward now."
