Later Tabs, Adam, and Mac were in Tabs’s room as Tabs was telling them what she saw in the bathroom.

“Are you sure? Absolutely sure?” Mac asked.

“I saw it with my own eyes!” Tabs defended, getting more and more anxious.

“Now calm down… It can’t get much worse” Mac said trying to comfort Tabs.

Tabs threw her hands up in the air. “Don’t you know never to say that?! Whenever they say that on TV, that’s when all the bad things happen!!!”

Mac scoffed. “That’s fiction. This is real life,”

Before Tabs could answer her phone rang. Tabs grabbed her phone from her back pocket and answered it.

“Hello?”

It was Fiona. “Tabs?! Where are you?!”

Shoot!

“Fiona… hey…,” Tabs said nervously.

“Did you forget?!”

“Nooooooo???”

Yes.

“Yes,” Tabs deflated.

Adam stammered in disbelief that it was, indeed, getting worse. “It’s your fault! I blame you!” Adam accused Mac.

Tabs shushed them and stepped further away.

“Flynn’s in the ICU and I’m here alone. Could really use a friend right about now! You promised,”

She was getting mad, Tabs really couldn't blame her.

“I know! I know! I know! It’s just- I gotta-  Uuummmm….,”

Tabs looks to her friends for help.

“Family emergency,” Adam whispered.

Tabs ran through every family emergency she could think of. Nothing fit.

“Gotta go to my sister’s… soccer game?”

Adam facepalmed.

“At 7 PM?” Fiona said deadpanned.

“Uuuummm?”

Tabs turned back to her friends.

“Family emergency,” Adam whispered again.

“Yes! It’s an emergency,”

Adam facepalmed again.

Fiona scowled. “No, I get it… It must be nice having your younger sibling healthy and running around during a sports game,” Fiona spat.

“Fiona-,”

“I’ll see you on Monday. Okay? If I can’t come, at least bring my homework to the hospital,” and with that she hung up.

“Fiona?” Tabs deflated. “She hung up,”

“What was that?! You can lie to your parents on the spot but not to someone you just met a few months ago?!” Adam said shocked.

“Later! We gotta save Lil!”

Meanwhile…

“Tabs” came into the Crossbreed Control center after close and headed to the back where they keep all the trapped Crossbreeds. “Tabs” noticed the control panel and hit a button on it that opened all the cage doors.

The bear crossbreed growled when he saw “Tabs” and charged towards her, roaring with his claws ready. “Tabs” simply flashed her Crossbreed eyes and the bear froze, stunned. He put his paw down, relaxed.

Tabs saluted the bear goodbye as she walked past and the other Crossbreeds ran off.

“Tabs” walked into one of the empty cages that no Crossbreeds ran out of, where Lil was tied up on the floor.

“They let you back in here?!” Lil snapped.

“Tabs” smirked. “Well I am the daughter of the best employees”

“No you’re not! You’re NOT my sister!”

“Tabs” gets into Lil’s face, surprising her.

“I AM your sister, you little pigtailed freak! Don’t blame me cuz I’m not afraid to say what I actually feel!”

“Tabs” winces and steps back before she smirks at Lil again. “She sure got her issues with you. You know where I'm from, sisters love each other, they don't bully each other nonstop every single day,”

Lil scoffs. “Whatever,”

“You know, no wonder why she hates herself so much. I'd hate myself too if my sister said the stuff you say to her,”

Lil looks at her a mixture of fear and concern.

“You know, normally when I'm done, I just let the people I'm pretending to be go. But I think I’m going to do your quote unquote real sister a favor and give her some free therapy by getting rid of you. Trust me, she may love you. But she knows deep down how much healthier she would be without you,”

….

Meanwhile….

Tabs was flying over the city. Frantically looking for Lil.

“Lil…. where are you? Come on, where’d you go?”

Suddenly she spots Mimic carrying Lil into the woods and flies after them.

…

Lil is struggling with the collar of her shirt in Mimic’s mouth as Mimic ran into the woods with her.

“Put me down! Put me down!”

Mimic ignored her cries until she heard someone else's voice behind her.

“Hey!”

Mimic looks back at Hauntful flying with Adam and Mac  riding their scooters behind her. She picks up the pace and jumps over a fallen tree. Hauntful flew after them. Adam and Mac’s eyes widened as they skidded to a stop.

“Stop stop stop!” Mac cried as they stopped.

Hauntful stopped past the tree and looked back at them.

“Guys?”

“Don’t wait up! We’ll find a way around!” Adam called from over the tree.

“Go! Go!” Mac confirmed.

Hauntful kept flying.

…

Meanwhile…

Mimic was still running with Lil who is swinging back and forth in her mouth and seemed ready to throw up.

“Whoa whoa whoa…. I’m gonna puke,” Lil held back the throw up in her mouth.

Mimic kept her eyes on Hauntful who was still following them. She dodged through the trees which eventually led to Hauntful slamming into one and landing on the ground.

“Stupid cub,” Mimic thought as she ran off.

Adam and Mac ran over to where they had seen Tabs land.

“Dude, are you okay?” Adam asked.

Tabs was in a daze. “Conscious… is that you?”

Adam and Mac stare at each other with a mixture of confusion and concern.

“I’m not your conscious. It's me, Adam. How hard did you hit your hea-

"I'm I dead? Are you a ghost?"

"NO! I am not a ghost! F-Forget it! Mac, a little help here!” Adam gave up.

….

Later…

Once they had made sure Tabs was actually ok and not concussed, Tabs went after Mimic again, made her drop Lil and gave her enough time to get away while Hauntful and Mimic fought. Hauntful knew she wasn't big and strong like Mimic was, so she had to resort to tackling and flying away to exhaust her. This proved much easier than she thought it would be.

“You are so selfish! Mama Mimic was just trying to improve your pathetic family by getting rid of some toxicity,”

“Mimic? And Adam says Rat King’s name is on the nose,”

Mimic snarled and ran off into the woods. Hauntful went to go find Lil once she was sure Mimic was gone.

…

Later….

Tabs tracked Lil down and found her at the top of the hill.

“You okay?” Hauntful asked.

“Oh nuts!” Lil took off running.

“Hey wait! I’m-” Hauntful growled and chased after her.

Lil wasn’t watching where she was going and ended up running straight into a bush and getting tangles up in the brambles. Hauntful smirked and went over to help her get unstuck from the bramble.

“Hang on,”

Lil kept squirming even more.

“Hey! Calm down!”

“No! Get the heck away!”

Suddenly the brambles gave way and Lil went tumbling over the edge of the cliff into the river.

“Oh nuts!”

Hauntful swooped down. It took her a few minutes but she finally found Lil getting swept away, battling to keep her head up in the rapids and scooped her out of the water and set her down on the shore. She gave her a once over and couldn’t see any obvious injuries, Lil just looked groggy as she coughed up water.

…

Lil groggily opened her eyes and saw Hauntful transform back to Tab on her phone.

“-Unconscious… but I think she’s ok…. Can you hear me Lil? You better be ok,”

….

“Lil? Lil? Lil, can you hear me?” Lil groggily opened her eyes and saw Ben staring down at her.

“Ben,” she choked out.

“I don’t know what happened to you but Tabs found you outside. Speaking of which, I thought you said she got kidnapped, what were you doing following them?!” Ben said looking back at Tabs.

Tabs froze. “Just… getting the license plate?”

“Well that was dumb,”

Tabs glared at him.

“But you did get her inside so…” Ben consented.

“Yeah, don’t worry about it,”

Lil groggily sat up. “I could have sworn there was a Crossbreed that saved me,”

Tabs froze again. “Please, a Crossbreed helping humans? That’s ridiculous,”

“Yeah, it’s pretty stupid,”

Tabs relaxed.

“Ok… I’m just… gonna go upstairs now,” Tabs laughed nervously.

Tabs goes up to her room and was about to relax not realizing Lil was behind her.

“Were you chasing a car trying to save me?”

Tabs jumped 6 feet in the air and turned around in a panic before trying to calm down.

“Well… like I told Ben… I was trying to get the license plate,”

“You chased a car you thought had a kidnapper in it in the late evening in San Francisco alone to get a license plate?”

“What? You don’t believe me?”

“I don’t have anything on you, so I won’t tell Mom and Dad but lying isn’t your strong suit,”

…

“Come on Fee, pick up,”

Fiona scoffed when she saw who was calling her but answered anyway.

“Hey,”

“Hey, sorry I couldn’t make it-,”

“It’s fine. I should’ve known it was too much to ask. He’s still in the ICU. I’ll probably be out of school the next few days. Call me if I miss any homework, yeah?”

“Yeah… sure,”

Fiona hung up angrily. Behind her, Sypherous was lurking in the shadows. He walked over and got down on her level.

“Yeah see I told you shw doesn’t care. No one does. Not even your guardian can be bothered to show up,"

Fiona started to tear up, she knew he was right. Sypherous put a hand on her shoulder.

"But I do. I want to help you,”

Fiona wiped her tears away and turned to look at him.

“How?”

Sypherous smirked.
