The Sleepover (short play)

Scene 12

Scene 12

Nov 04, 2025

Emma: Eric, is that truly you?

Eric: Yes, it is truly me.

Emma: How is that possible? You vanished without a trace.

Eric: Yes, I vanished without a trace because I couldn't take the rumors spreading about the girl I liked.

Emma: But where did you sleep?

Caroline: Please don't be angry with me, Emma, but I let him stay at my place and sleep.

Emma: Why would I be angry with you? I’m just happy my brother is okay, but why did you switch your name to evil boy?

Eric (laughs): To seem cool and dangerous?

Sofie: Eric, baby!

Eric: Do not call me "baby." I broke up with you, whore, remember?

Sofie (cries): Why would you call me such a terrible word? All I ever did was love you.

Eric: No, what you did was manipulate me and hurt me by pretending to be Caroline, claiming she didn’t like me and couldn’t stand attractive guys, etc.

Caroline: Hold on, what?

Eric: That's exactly what she said.

Caroline: Sofie, you b—

Emma: Whoa, Caroline, take it easy, and I’ll take care of this.

Olivia: Emma, I should be the one to deal with this.

Luna: Olivia, why is that?

Jenny: Luna is correct. Why?

Olivia: Because—I'm sorry, Caroline.

[Olivia begins begging on her knees in front of Caroline, crying hard and pleading for an apology.]

Caroline: Olivia, get up.

Olivia: No, I don’t want to stand up. I have something to confess. I was the one who vandalized your locker.

Caroline: It was you. Why did you do it?

Olivia: Sofie forced me to do it. She said if I didn’t, my parents would lose their jobs.

Caroline: Why would they lose their jobs?

Olivia: My father is a chauffeur, and my mother is a servant in Sofie's mansion. If I didn't do as Sofie said, she'd tell her dad to dismiss both of my parents and deduct the apartment rent from my parents' wages.

Caroline: Olivia, that is wrong. We all know Sofie is wealthy, but she’s not that great. She enjoys abusing her position because, unlike her, her father has a lot of money.

Sofie: Excuse me. I do have a lot of money; none of you b— would ever be as wealthy as me and my dad.

Caroline: But you will never find happiness, just like your mom left your dad for being unfaithful.

Stephanie: Sofie is just living with her father, not her mother?

Caroline: That's right! That explains why she has daddy issues.

Sofie: I have no daddy issues.

Caroline: Yes, you do, and please stop lying. It's no surprise you're such a lonely little b— without a mother.

[Sofie turns to Eric for help in defending herself.]

Sofie: Eric, do not listen to her. You realize that everything she says is a lie. You believe me, right?

Eric: No way, I would never believe you, whore.

Sofie (cries): Why are you calling me a whore? Why can’t you just use that nickname you used to call me?

Eric: That nickname? I never gave you one. You were the one who pushed me to say that to you; it wasn't my idea.

Sofie: Don't lie.

Eric: I’m not lying; you’re the one who lies all the time.

Sofie: Not at all, and don’t you dare tell them the truth about that day.

Eric: Ma'am, who are you to tell me what I can or cannot say? It's no wonder that you're so controlled. I can’t believe I was so naive to not see that you were trying to isolate me from my friends and make me focus solely on you.

Sofie: I did it for you, so you can have a brighter future with me.

Eric: Just because you’re a pampered little whore with daddy issues, trying to manipulate and brainwash someone isn’t love.

Emma: Hold on for a second, you two. What do you mean by "the truth that day"? Eric, what is she referring to?

Eric: Emma, do you remember the day I was going to meet Caroline early to tell her how I felt and ask her out?

Emma: Yes, I remember that day.

Eric: To sum it up: that was the day Sofie created a story claiming that Caroline didn’t like me and preferred boys who misbehaved because she had a reputation for being a player and sleeping with them. Sofie also mentioned that attractive boys are just useless to her for gaining popularity. When Sofie spotted Caroline walking over here, she rushed at me and kissed me forcefully. She stole my first kiss.

Caroline: So, that’s what happened just hours before I got there. When I arrived, I saw that kiss, and it was really hard to watch.

Sofie: You got what you deserved!

[Olivia gets up from the floor, approaches Sofie, and slaps her. Telling her all the horrible things she has to endure from her, such as damaging Caroline's life in the worst way imaginable. Meanwhile, Sofie acts like the victim while Olivia has to deal with the mess she created.]

Luna: Olivia, I can't believe you endured such terrible abuse from Sofie. We had no idea you were doing this.

Jessie: Girl, you should have informed me about this sooner. If I had known Sofie was harming our group and spreading lies about Caroline, I would have kicked her out right away.

Sofie: But you didn't, because you're too stupid to see it.

Jessie: I might be stupid, but my top priority will always be to protect my friends.

[Jenny, Stephanie, Olivia, Luna, and Caroline approached Jessie and embraced her in a group hug. It was the first time Jessie experienced such a genuine and comforting hug. She felt the warmth and support of her friends enveloping her.]

Jenny: Excuse me, Mr. Boss Guy, when do you intend to untie Sofie?

Boss guy: I was going to untie her now, but I chose to keep her like that until the police get here.

Jenny: You contacted the police?

Boss guy: Don't worry; I called them to take Sofie in for all the offenses she committed at school, even though she's underage and her father is involved too, and for what she did to my sister Caroline.

Stephanie: Did you just mention 'sister'? Caroline?
