The Sleepover (short play)

Scene 13

Scene 13

Nov 11, 2025

[The group of girls stood there, confused, watching Caroline as she began to move anxiously. After a few seconds, Caroline revealed to the girls that the boss guy is her brother. The group of girls made every effort to comprehend the topic but were unable to. The boss takes off his cap and shows them a picture of how he used to look.]

Emma: Let me guess, your brother never revealed his face when he came to pick you up at the front gate every day because I was the only one who saw his back.

Caroline: That’s right. By the way, my brother is named Kyle.

Jessie (thought): Kyle? Why does the name sound familiar? My sister told me that one of her classmates has a friend named Kyle.

Stephanie: Wait a minute! Kyle? Are you the same Kyle who was a senior at our school before we all came in, super popular with the girls, really smart, and then ended up being a troubled guy?

Kyle: Yes, that’s me. People used to call me a legend because I did great things for the school, and others called me the king due to all the trouble I got into. But no, I’m not a criminal. I was used as bait in something risky, which is why I stopped picking up my sister; I was doing community service.

Emma: Oh, everyone thought you stopped picking her up because of the rumors.

Kyle: I heard all the rumors about my sister from the school bulletin board that you all still use today. As her brother, I would never betray her; I will always stand by her in both good and bad times.

Luna: So the evil boy is Eric, the boss guy is Kyle, but who is the evil girl?

Evil girl (chuckles): Wow! Everyone is showing their identities except for me.

[The evil girl wanders around in circles before stopping in front of Sofie.]

Sofie: Ugh, what do you want?

Evil girl: You really don’t know who I am?

Sofie: From the looks of it, no.

Evil girl: Does it not ring a bell when you grabbed me in the computer lab, angry and saying you wanted to ruin someone’s relationship? That was before I hacked into Caroline's account, and you paid me for it because I was looking for compensation. Doesn’t that sound familiar?

Sofie (shaking in fear): That was you.

Evil girl: Yes, it was me.

Sofie: But you don’t look like you did back then.

Evil girl: You’re pretty slow to catch on. Because of you and the person you hired to follow me home while I was carrying my compensation, I got bruised up. That’s why I have this eyepatch. It’s still swollen but healing slowly. Coming back to school was a nightmare. I had to ignore my sister in the hallway or at home whenever I saw her.

Jessie: Josie, is that you?

Josie: Yes, it’s me, little sister. I apologize for not returning home all this time.

Jessie: I assumed you hated me for some reason.

Josie: No, I don’t hate you; I was just being followed by the person your snake friend hired to watch my every move. They even knew where we lived, which is why I packed my things and left for a safe place during the night.

Olivia: So you all know each other then?

Kyle: I only know Josie because one of her friends was friends with mine.

Olivia: I still don’t get why you kidnapped us all.

Caroline: I have the reason for this. You know, after I fled from school, I called my brother for a favor, and he agreed. My brother chose to bring in Eric and Josie as my helpers for the plan to get back at Sofie, since she was the main cause of our troubles. When Jessie suggested the sleepover, that’s when I made up an excuse to say I couldn’t go. Once the bell rang, I hurried to text my brother and the two recruits about where the sleepover would be. Sofie overheard you all, which is why she took my place—she wanted my spot and to get rid of me.

Olivia: Oh, that is beginning to make sense.

Jenny: But why did you smack Eric’s head?

Caroline (laughing): You noticed that, Jenny? Well, I had to pretend to be someone else so none of you girls would recognize me, especially you, Jenny. I felt like someone was staring at my hair.

Jenny: I was right then; I was having second thoughts.

Sofie: Are you all happy right now? Also, KYLE, it won't be simple for you to put me in jail with my dad. Because, as you know, my dad—

Kyle: Your dad is the most influential person in business, and he can also bribe the police because he wants to protect his reputation. Should I keep going? I can. I look into your dad’s background, and I'm very confident whatever method he uses to get himself out of jail will be difficult this time.

Sofie: I'd love to watch you attempt.

[Kyle checks his watch and notices a message from the police indicating that they have already arrived. He replies that the culprit is in the basement tied up, so she won't be able to escape easily. Kyle smirks and informs Sofie that the police have already arrived and she can't do anything about it.]

A loud thud from outside startled everyone; police burst through the basement door, instructing everyone to move aside to take the culprit. They untied Sofie, believing she was free, but then handcuffed her and took her upstairs, where she was pushed into the police car with her dad.

Sofie: Daddy? Why are you here? You're expected to bribe them, just like you have in the past. You know I've never done anything wrong.

Sofie’s father: Sofie, sweetie, it's over now. They caught us, and we're ready to face a harsh reality. And I can't believe you hired someone to follow a student home and hurt them.

Sofie: Daddy, I did what I had to do.

Sofie’s father: You're starting to act just like your mother.

Sofie (cries): How can you talk about her when she abandoned us?

Sofie’s father (shouts): STOP WITH THE FAKE TEARS. THIS TIME YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN, SOFIE.

Sofie (shouts): UGGH, I HATE YOU, DADDY.

[The police car drives away with Sofie and her dad in the backseat.]
