It’s around 4:30 by the time we get to the library. Cammie leads us to the front desk to ask the librarian where we can find these logs and archives.
“Hi! I was wondering if we could look at some old archives pertaining to some of the legends in the town.”
The lady gave her a questioning glare. “There is only so much we can give you. Not to mention most of those stories aren’t even real.”
“W-well… um… I want to look at some of my own family history. Since we’ve lived here for such a long time, I’m sure we relate to some of the legends.” Cammie gave the librarian a smug look that begged for a victory.
The lady sighed. “Okay, Cam. I’ll get you what I can.” Then the librarian walked away with defeat in her step.
Cammie turned to our shocked faces, raising her eyebrows and smiling, look wondering what we thought of her persuasive skills.
“Does she know you?” Josh carried what was in all our minds.
“Yeah. I come here a lot and I may or may not have some…” She paused, choosing her words. “Good reasons for her to help me.”
“Blackmail?” Dem raised an eyebrow.
Cammie turned to look back at the librarian. “Hey! What did you find?”
The lady came back with nothing more than a book. “Don’t-uh- this is all there was on you.” Cammie stared at the book. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah.”
Picking up the book she read Foundations of a Curriculum: written by Edith Dwyer.
“Huh.” Cam licked the inside of her lip. “Nothing else?”
“Yup.”
She grabbed the book, stuffing it into her bag. “It’s probably nothing so I’ll save you guys the time.”
“Bye guys! Have a good day!” Cam left with a wave.
Shouldn’t she have let us look through the book? I guess it is her family history, but I just want to figure out this demon lady thing before it’s too late.
