EXT. LUNERA BEACH – AN HOUR LATER
Turp, Harley, Callie and Gavrial have towels laid out on the sandy shore. The sun is high, the air is mild, and the waves are low. While Harley lounges, Turp and Gavri splash each other in the water. Callie sits with her feet in the pulling tide, hands buried in sand. Heinz walks out to join them, and stands next to Callie.
Heinz
So what are you and the scrawny one? Caterers?
Callie
My parents are both doctors, and I'm a clerk at Wagon's Worth. Gavri's a reporter.
Gavri
(Calling out to them.) Journalist, actually.
Heinz looks out at Gavri, then back to Callie, and points to Gavri with his thumb.
Heinz
(Smiling.) Perfect. I'm gonna put your boyfriend to work.
Gavri
We're not-
Gavri looks at Callie, who isn't reacting at all, like it doesn't phase her. Gavri nods, then shakes his head with a blink, figuring she must not be bothered by that type of 'humor'. They watch Heinz take off his sandals, and walk into the water. He wades in up to his knees, and Gavri walks over so they can start talking.
INT. YELLOW CAB – MOMENTS LATER
Dry and clothed again, Gavri gets into a cab with Heinz. Callie stands outside, and Gavri looks at her.
Gavri
(Surprised.) You wanna come with?
Callie
Yeah, shove over.
Gavri moves along the seat, and Callie enters. They buckle in. Gavri sits in the middle, between Heinz and Calliophie. The car starts rolling. An awkward silence hangs in the air. Heinz clears his throat.
Heinz
It's odd, but I can't tell which one of you is smaller.
Callie squints, her head turned slightly. Gavri clasps his hands and stares forward. Then they each turn separate ways to look out the windows. The shot focuses on Gavri, from just outside his window (rear left). He looks awkward and forlorn.
