After a few minutes, Aya stopped crying and wiped her tears. We both felt a little better, like the air around us had finally calmed down.

I remembered about my phone and I asked her, “I forgot my phone at school. Do you mind coming with me and telling me more about this whole demon thing?”

I could see her smile again and look directly at me with those bright turquoise eyes of hers. There was something about them that made it hard to look away. She said “Sure, what do you want to know?”

Standing up from the bench to go back to school, I said, “You don’t look exactly how I imagined demons. You don’t have horns or wings, you look exactly like a human..the only exception is those…eyes” I told her, looking at them.

She looked at me, laughing, and in a happy tone responded, “So you like my eyes? What else do you like?”

My cheeks flushed red before I even realized it and embarrassed I said, “Are you making fun of me? I mean, your eyes…do they have special powers? Can you see more than others or..” 

I didn’t finish my phrase, and she said, “Nope, normal eyes. Only a different color than usual.”

I said “Then why do I feel pressure when I look at them? You are manipulating me or something, I can feel it!”

She laughed again and said, “I think you are in love! Hahaha how cute!”

Again, my cheeks turned red and I said, “Let’s change the subject. You can’t stop making fun of me!”

I remembered that earlier she mentioned my dad, so I asked her, “Earlier you told me you know me, and then you told me about a proof and said Takashi Nomura. How do you know him?”

“I don’t really know him. When I was little, I saw a photo of him on my creator’s desk and asked who he was. My creator said he was a boy he once saved and that he made a vaccine for him. After that, he left.” she said.

“He saved my dad? Your creator? He made him a vaccine?” I asked, worried.

“Yes…he gave him the anti-demon injection.” she said seriously. “I don’t remember much from when I was little..back then I didn’t know how to control my power. He gave your father the injection so I wouldn’t possess him.”

She paused, then added softly, “That was the proof I was talking about…you cannot be controlled by demons because you have Takashi’s power.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “How did your creator save my father?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” she answered quietly. “My creator died…but I know someone who might know how he saved him.”

“Who?” I asked, and waited for her answer.

She looked at me and said, “My creator’s son.”

“Oh, so your brother then.” I said.

She shook her head. “No, my creator was a human, his son is a human as well, he created me and my sister from nothing, not like humans do to reproduce.”

“So we’ll need to get to him. Let’s get my phone first and then go talk with him. I want answers.”

She told me, “You need to rest, It’s already night, Ryuu. We’ll go tomorrow and talk to him. I know where he is.” 

We arrived at school, where I told the guard at the entrance that I forgot my phone, and he let me enter the school to get it.

After I got my phone, I left the school, and Aya said, “Let’s go to your house now, we need to rest!”
