Secret of An Alpha: Retribution

Chapter twelve

Chapter twelve

Oct 05, 2025

"Thank the Moon Goddess that the ceremony was a success, thank you," Samson was very grateful, grateful that the Moon Goddess heard their pleas. His son was well, that's all that mattered and it was all thanks to the ceremony.

"How long was I out?" Luke asked, sitting up on the bed. He had lost too much weight for Michelle's liking. His voice was groggy, an indication that he hadn't used it for so long.

"Approximately three weeks, but everything is fine now. Everything is perfect," Michelle teared up, holding onto her son's hand, as if afraid that he would disappear.

"How is everyone?" he asked, coughing, the little headache a nuisance.

"They are fine. Your Beta managed to win The Chase. He wished well for you," Samson added, smiling at his son.

"I can't help but feel like there's something else that you're not telling me. What is it?" he asked, pulling his hand out of Michelle's hold, trying to get off the bed. "I really need to bath."

"Well, the guests have left," Samson started, gauging his son's reaction. Luke just raised a brow, urging him to continue. "The Creek Pack was here."

"And?"

"And some left, but we've encountered a problem that required Alpha Rolus and three of his warriors to spend the night here," he finished, waiting for Luke to lash out, or even demand that they leave. None of that happened.

"Okay. I'm going to have a bath and tell someone to bring me food," he replied, dragging himself to the en suite bathroom.

Michelle and Samson looked at each other, shocked.

"Why is Luke acting like that?" Michelle narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

"Your guess is as good as mine," he replied, standing up. He held his mate's hand, then they exited Luke's room.

When they arrived from The Chase, they found chaos in the house. Everyone was all over the place, trying to clean, some attending to all those who were injured during The Chase and others just filling the already full house.

Beta Peter was rushed to one of the emergency rooms because he was in a bad condition, some wolf of another Pack attacked him. His leg was gushed open, blood all that oozed when he came back to the Pack House. He had lost too much blood that he was slipping in and out of consciousness. His mate had tried to lick his wounds to heal faster, but somehow, the wound was not healing as it should.

They still needed to ask him which wolf attacked him to know what happened. His wound was not healing as it should, and Samson was afraid that it might be Shadow Pack's wolf that did that to him.

Delta Tamera had approached Samson and told them about Alpha Rolus and his sudden loss of consciousness. She also told him about the three warriors that were going to be accommodated at the Pack House.

Samson stressed the need to have guards outside the guests' bedrooms. He didn't want any funny business, especially when his son was fighting for his life two floors up.

When he went to check on Alpha Rolus, he got the shock of his life. The man was sickly pale, sweat all that glistened on his skin. His heart was beating too fast for someone who was unconscious. What he didn't get was his face. The man looked to be in great pain, his face having that pained look. Maybe he was dreaming, that's all he could think about.

Maybe he was having a nightmare, even though he was unconscious. It happened sometimes when someone was unconscious.

Now, the biggest shock was when he went up to check on Luke. His son was wide awake, staring at the ceiling. Samson didn't know how or when Luke awoke, but he was so overjoyed.

Michelle couldn't stop the tears of joy that spilled, hugging her son like there was no tomorrow.

All that ran in Samson's mind was that the ceremony was a success. It was a success because their son was well again.

Now, it was going to be a huge task to convince him to let go of whatever he's holding against the Creek Pack Alpha. It's the rivalry that made him sick in the first place. It was his visit to Creek Pack that made him sick.

They had promised the Moon Goddess that their son would never bother Alpha Rolus or terrorize the Creek Pack again. They couldn't be sure of what would happen if they didn't fulfill their promises to the Moon Goddess, so they had to make sure that Luke didn't go back on his ways.

It was later in the night that Luke finished bathing and eating, having regained his energy. He could hear commotion downstairs. It sounded like there was a celebration going on.

His legs hurt because he wasn't walking for almost three weeks and his headache was becoming worse. He didn't even want to entertain the idea of Rolus being in his house. That would just make him want to end his pathetic life.

There was something about Rolus that made his blood boil and hands shake in pure anger and disgust. The man was a disgrace. If only people knew what he did, they wouldn't be praising him or worshipping the ground he walked on.

Even his parents seemed to adore Rolus, which added to the hate he felt for the other man.

When he felt like he was ready to face his Pack, he exited his quarters and walked down the stairs to where everyone seemed to be. He went into the hall, where the loud chatter was.

The door was open, allowing Luke to see that it was a party for him.

"I'm so glad that you're okay, Alpha," Tamera hugged him, thereafter pulling him into the room to let everyone see him.

Everyone cheered, so happy to see him all well. Even Samson and Michelle were having a blast.

"How are you feeling?" Tamera asked, grabbing a glass of juice from the counter, and handing it to Luke

"Thanks. I'm feeling great, despite the pain here and there. How's Peter? I heard from Dad that he was attacked," he replied, sipping his juice.

"Don't worry about him. He'll be fine. He's a strong man and nothing can bring him down. The doctors are trying to heal him faster, but he'll be okay," she reassured, drinking her wine. Even though it was non-alcoholic, it still tasted the same to her.

"And our guests?"

Tamera scowled, drinking all her wine in one go. "Nuisances. That female warrior is starting to get under my skin. She's too cold, too disrespectful to our doctors. And don't forget demanding. I really can't stand her. She thinks just because she's getting cozy with the Alpha gives her the Luna title. You should've seen her getting too comfortable with that Alpha."

"Was she a redhead?"

"Nah. She was brunette. I think she's the Head Warrior or something. She's a mated wolf, yet her relationship with that Alpha says something else,"

"Let it go. I'll handle everything and maybe put her in her place. She must know that this isn't her Pack. She must not do what she likes," Luke replied, sitting down in one of the chairs.

He was exhausted, his body failing him.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Tamera asked, a brow raised in question.

Luke just nodded, sighing thereafter. "What's been happening whilst I was out?"

Tamera was such a gossip, that when Luke told her to fill her in in the Pack news, she couldn't wait to gossip. "Liesle hooked up with Macey last week and she wouldn't keep her mouth shut about it. I don't even know why Macey sleeps around when she could be waiting for her mate, you know. She's got this idea that it's better to explore before settling down, before finding your mate.

Oohhh... Peter announced the news last week that his mate was expecting, isn't that great? A new addition to the family," she was so excited about the news.

"How far is Diana?" Luke asked, feeling bad about Peter being wounded whilst his mate was pregnant. Poor Diana. The stress she must be in was heartbreaking. Luke hoped the baby would be okay.

"Six weeks. I can't wait to meet the bundle of joy," she squealed, shaking her head in excitement.

"And what about you?"

"What about me?"

"When are you expecting?" Luke clarified, smirking.

Tamera laughed, slapping Luke's arm. "You're not funny, you know?"

"I'm the funniest."

"I'm really glad you're okay, you know. You gave us such a scare, especially your mother. She's been in your room since, never having time to herself. Don't do that again, okay?"

Luke nodded, feeling glum. He didn't know why he was sick or even unconscious for so long. All he knew was that the ceremony his parents held was a success and thanks to it that he was able to recover.

Now, the question was why he was sick. His parents insisted that he must have caught something from the Creek Pack since their Alpha was sick too.

Maybe it's some illness that targets the Alphas, who knew.

His parents came to sit with him when Tamera excused herself, with Michelle holding her son's hand. She looked like she has not been sleeping well and her character was broken. At any other time, she would not be this affectionate, trying to act all cold-hearted and nonchalant.

"Son, I need you to end whatever feud you have with Rolus. It's what made you sick in the first place," Samson started, his demeanor too intimidating.

Luke bit the inside of his cheek, refraining from saying things that he might regret later.

"Are you going to end it, huh?" Samson tried again, seeing the vein on Luke's temple pop up.

"There's no feud between Rolus and I. There's nothing going on," he gritted out, fisting his hands.

"Really? Then why did you stake your claim on his Pack?"

Luke kept quiet, looking away from his father.

"Lucas, I don't want to lose you to some stupid rivalry going on between you and Rolus. Whatever it is, end it," Michelle's cold tone made Luke look at her to see her eyes changing colour. He was stunned, stunned that his mother was losing control. He knew that her wolf did not like it when she felt like she was being disrespected.

"Mother, I promise you that there is no rivalry going on between Rolus and I. I just want justice," he replied, albeit calmly.

"What justice?" Samson asked, confused. Michelle's eyes went back to normal, but still looking mad.

"You wouldn't understand, I'm sorry." He stood up, leaving his mother fuming. They wouldn't understand. If he told them the truth about Rolus, they wouldn't believe him. That's what he kept telling himself.

So, he exited the room with a sour mood, his feet taking him to the infirmary where he was sure Rolus was being kept. They needed to leave. Rolus and his warriors couldn't spend the night in his house. They needed to leave, or he would end up killing someone.

He would be betraying his sister if he let Rolus spend a night in his house. They couldn't sleep here, not under his watch. They needed to leave immediately.
