Secret of An Alpha: Retribution

Chapter seventeen

Chapter seventeen

Oct 05, 2025

When Luke arrived at the location, it was already late. He was too hyper, too pumped by the fear and the thought of Peter dying. The man had a young one on the way. There was no way his child would become fatherless and Diana, oh, Diana would become mateless. The Pack would gladly help raise the child because for them, it did take a village to raise a child, but the loss of her mate would drive her mad, it would destroy her. She would be sick because a part of her would be dead too.

Peter could not afford to die.

The location was a little dodgy, outside of Little Hills, a town ten kilometers away from Ripple District.

He parked his car a little further away from the location, getting out of the car and approaching the abandoned buildings. The place was sketchy, too quiet. He picked up the scents of three people. That's okay, he could handle them.

He treaded carefully to the area, searching, just being cautious. When he concluded that the place was a little safe, he walked down the alley, his nose overwhelmed by the smell of urine and cigarettes.

At the end of the alley, there were three people, all sat on buckets that looked to be too old to be assaulted. The men were smoking cigarettes and having a little chatter. They looked to be homeless, like life showed them flames.

They didn't even hear him, that's how quiet he was. They only saw him when he stood in front of them.

"Who's Ramon?" he asked, grimacing at the look over they gave him. He only knew the name because of the details Sierra sent him.

The guy with the long dirty hair pointed to himself, taking a long drag of his cigarette, then throwing it away.

They gave him dirty looks, but Luke could care less because he needed that antidote.

"I'm here for the antidote for Killex," he told them.

"And who might you be?" One of the guys asked, who looked to be too far gone by the way his eyes looked to be dazed. They looked to have smoked something stronger before the cigarettes.

"Sierra sent me here. You're supposed to take it to Crystal Valley, right?" That was where the Creek Pack resided.

"Oh? You have my money?"

"What money? Give me the fucking stuff or else-"

"Or else what?" he looked disgusted at the sight of Luke.

Before Luke could try to intimidate them, his phone rang. When he saw Tamera's name, his heart did a flip in fear. "What's wrong?"

"We're going to lose him if you're not back by the next hour. Please hurry, Luke. We can't lose him," she sounded so devastated, making Luke even more determined. He was getting that antidote one way or another.

"I'll be back, don't worry," he replied, then hung up, putting his phone back in his pocket. He cracked his knuckles, smirking when he said, "Now, where were we?"

________

The first thing he did when he parked his car at the Pack, he ran out of it, leaving the door open. He ran into the Pack House, then straight to their infirmary.

His heart was so loud, filling his ears when he barged into the room, gave Dr Smith the antidote and watched as everything unfolded before his eyes.

Peter was much worse, sweat trickling down his face, his entire leg swollen and with his veins too black, like they wanted to get out of his skin. He was shaking so bad, so bad to the point that Luke's heart broke. The worst thing was that Peter was too far gone, not registering everything that happened.

Dr Smith wasted no time in injecting Peter, not even caring if it was safe or not because all they cared about was trying before it was too late.

Luke felt like he could puke his heart out in anxiety.

"Alpha, please step out of the room. Don't worry, we will inform you if anything happens," Dr Smith said, smiling sadly at Luke.

He was just too shaken up about the whole ordeal that he just left the room, hearing Diana's cries outside. Michelle was with her, trying to console her.

When her eyes landed on Luke, she stood up, asking, "How is he? Is he going to make it?"

Luke was still shaken up to reply. He was just a shell of himself right now. His silence was perceived as something else because Diana cried harder, breaking everyone's hearts.

Luke managed to sit down on the bench, traumatized. What would've happened if he had not gotten that antidote?

He managed to get the antidote from those men when he roughed them up a little, not a little, but he didn't kill them. They thought they stood a chance against Luke, but he showed them that he wasn't an Alpha of a Pack for nothing.

They gave him the antidotes in the end, when they felt that they were too bloodied to fight back.

When the door opened, they all stood up, Michelle and Diana bombarding the doctor with questions. Dr Smith let them ask, patient. When they were done, he said, "The antidote seems to be working. He's healing fine now."

"Will he be alright by tomorrow?" Michelle asked, her arm draped over Diana's shoulder.

"Yes. You may go see him," he informed, smiling.

Diana hurried into the room, with Michelle following after.

"Aren't you going?" Dr Smith asked Luke, who stood in place, not making an indication that he was going to enter the room.

"No, I'll check up on him tomorrow," he replied, turning and walking down the hall, heading to his office. The truth was that he didn't have the energy to see Peter after how he saw him. He wasn't mentally ready to face him.

He bumped into Tamera on his way, who asked, "Is Peter alright?"

He nodded, proceeding to walk, with Tamera following after him.

His phone rang when they entered the office. Luke recognized the number as Sierra's.

"Yes?" he answered.

"Did you get the antidote?" she asked.

"Yes. I managed to get them free of charge."

Sierra sighed on the other hand, already having guessed what he meant. "I'm sending someone over to get my share."

Luke wanted to laugh. Her share? "Your share?"

She stayed quiet for a moment, probably thinking of how to respond to Luke. "Ramon was my contact. I need the antidote for the injured."

"No need to get all worked up. I'm taking half, there's more than enough for all of us," he said, taking out the brown paperback full of bottles of the antidote. They were about twenty.

"Fine then," she hung up without saying goodbye, making Luke chuckle.

He turned to look at Tamera, who was seated on his table. "I need you to take Shanell to the border with you to give someone from Creek Pack the antidote."

He took out ten bottles from the bag, then put them in the table's drawer.

"Okay. Before I go, I wanted to ask, how are you?"

Luke groaned at her question. Talk about being invasive.

"I'm doing fine. Forget about yesterday and I would like to apologise for my behaviour; shouting at you about Zayn. I didn't mean what I said," he apologised, biting the inside of his cheek.

Tamera smiled, but the smile didn't quite reach her eyes. "It's okay. I understand."

Luke just smiled, then handed her the bag. She got off the table, then got out of the room.

When she was gone, Luke released the breath he didn't know he was holding. He leaned against the backrest of his chair, looking up the ceiling. He was tired, both physically and mentally. He's been up the whole day, he was bound to get tired.

He just needed a good night's sleep with no disturbances. He checked his wristwatch to see that it was approaching nine in the night.

He closed his eyes, trying to relax. He felt himself get drowsy, eventually falling asleep on the chair.

It was not long after he slept that he heard commotion in the House. There was arguing, and arguing in his Pack led to brutal fights.

He awoke, rubbing his eyes to rid the sleep even though it was long gone. He stood up, stretching his limbs.

He was a little pissed off with the interruption. When he got out of his office, he heard voices of his Gamma and Delta. What were the girls fighting about this time?

It was not the first time they fought. They always fought and most of the time, it was always about Luke. Luke wouldn't say they didn't get along, they just tolerated each other for the sake of Luke. They were important people in his life, so they tolerated each other.

He went to the room the commotion was happening. When he entered the room, everyone that was watching left one by one, until all three of them were left.

Tamera and Macey were glaring at each other, seeming to have gotten physical because Macey's hair was all over the place and Tamera's shirt was all wrinkled up, missing a few buttons.

"What's going on?" Luke asked, too tired to be reprimanding them. Usually, he just shouted at them to grow up.

Tamera turned to him. "Your precious Macey here hijacked my trip to the border. She stopped me going because she thought-"

"Who went to the border?" Luke interrupted, glaring at the two women.

"Shanell went with Robert, but I was supposed to go. This bitch stopped me!" She pushed Macey, who in turn was about to retaliate with a slap, but Luke managed to grab her hand, dragging her to the corner away from Tamera.

"What's wrong with you? Why did you stop her from going?" He tried to be gentle, but it was hard when Macey was struggling against him.

"She fucking stole my chocolate from the fridge. She knew that's mine, yet she stole it."

"Like I keep telling you, I didn't steal your fucking chocolate! What's wrong with you?" Tamera yelled back.

Luke sighed, letting go of Macey, who was too angry, too pissed to listen to Tamera.

Luke pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his head in distress. "Why do you always have to do this, you two? We're in the middle of a crisis and instead of you two thinking of ways to deal with the problem, you're busy at each other's throats! Macey, who told you about the chocolate? Did you even see her?" he pointed at Tamera, who had calmed down, trying to fix her shirt.

Macey pursed her lips, huffing. "Liesle told me. She saw her."

At that, Tamera laughed dryly, the disbelief in her tone too noticeable. "So you chose to believe your fuckgirl over me?"

"She saw you! Who else who'd try to sabotage me?"

Luke didn't even see how this was sabotage. He didn't want to get involved in their fights, but this was too ridiculous to just ignore.

"Macey, have you thought that Liesle might be bitter? Afterall, you don't give her the light of the day. Have you thought that maybe she's the one trying to sabotage you?" Luke asked her, rolling his eyes when Macey looked aside, pouting.

He patted her shoulder, saying, "She's a bitter girl, that Liesle. Tamera would never stoop so low as to steal your chocolate. Even if she did, you'd be the first to know because she'd rub it in your face." That's how Tamera was. She was so honest to the point that sometimes it could be aggravating.

Luke needed to have a talk with Liesle because no matter how innocent her little lie might be, Luke didn't like that she pinned his Gamma and Delta against each other, especially in these trying times. He wanted everyone on good terms so they'd help with protecting the Pack and come up with solutions.

"Please fix your mess and deal with that Liesle of yours before I deal with her, understood?" he ordered, making Macey nod. He raised a brow at her nod.

"Yes, Alpha."

"Good." He walked away, heading to his room. He hoped that Peter would be better tomorrow to help him deal with the Creek Pack Beta. He really didn't have the patience to deal with her.
