Secret of An Alpha: Retribution

Chapter twenty

Chapter twenty

Oct 05, 2025

Today was the day Peter was supposed to meet up with Sierra about the alliance. He was leaving, going to the Lunar Palace Hotel, where they were supposed to meet.

Luke was grateful for his Beta because he really didn't have the strength to meet with that Creek Beta. He's not been really well since he met up with Rolus. He had dreams, dreams that he considered nightmares because Rolus was in them.

He dreamt of Rolus being too sick to do anything. He was dying. Luke was there, watching Rolus suffer before his eyes. He didn't even know why in the dream he was hurting. He was hurting so bad seeing Rolus dying. His heart felt like it was being crushed the more he spent time watching Rolus die. He felt like a part of him was dying too. He didn't understand at all what was going on.

He just didn't understand the dream and what it meant. Was forgiving him the reason why he was having those dreams? If that's the reason, then why did he open up his heart and forgive the bastard?

He was not doing okay because the dream messed him up big time. He couldn't even eat the breakfast he was prepared, let alone bid farewell to Peter. Even Michelle was surprised at that because the moment Peter left, she was knocking on Luke's door, asking if he was well.

He sure didn't feel well, but he couldn't exactly tell his mother that. He didn't want to worry her any longer.

Seeing Rolus made him sick. He was sick because it's like being in Creek Pack made him sick, especially if he comes into contact with their Alpha.

He was lying in bed, not feeling great because of the dreams he had. They were repetitive every night, making him wonder if they had any significance in his life. No. Rolus being sick had nothing to do with him. He was a man Luke despised and would only tolerate him because they were going to be in an alliance.

____________

Peter came back to the House around noon, looking stressed. He went to Luke's office, coming to tell him how the meeting went.

"It's done," he took out the papers and put them on Luke's table. There were both Luke's and Rolus' blood on the papers serving as signatures. All the Alphas kept their blood in a vial as ink for situations where they couldn't sign themselves.

Luke read through their terms, which Peter had drafted beforehand with Luke's help.

"Was Sierra okay with all the terms and conditions?" Luke asked, packing the papers and unlocking one of the drawers under his table, then putting the papers in the drawer, then locking it afterwards.

"She was hesitant at first, but she agreed."

"That's good."

Peter went on to tell Luke about the findings the Creek Pack found.

They found out that the wolves belonged to the Dangerous Valley Pack, a Pack on the outskirts of Green Serpent Town. It would take approximately four days for anyone to reach by car.

They also found out the Killex was produced at their company, where they illegally distributed it to smaller Packs looking to defeat their enemies.

The Creek Pack collected data and it showed that the only Packs Dangerous Valley attacked was Black Moon Pack and Creek Pack. Sierra concluded that it must be some kind of a message or a warning. It was a personal attack as far as Sierra could tell.

Luke thought it was ridiculous, her assumptions. It was possible, but not that possible. He's never even heard of Dangerous Valley Pack, let alone made enemies with it. He had a few enemies here and there because he was provoking everyone in the earlier years of his ruling, but he remembered every Pack that he tormented. He's never heard of Dangerous Valley. So if they've got a bone to pick, then they were barking at the wrong tree. Maybe Creek Pack is what they're after and his Pack was just caught in the crossfire.

"Do you believe her?" Luke asked his Beta, staring at him.

Peter just shrugged, saying, "She looked convincing."

"Okay. What's the plan then?"

"Sierra said the wolves are hiding out somewhere in the Ripple District, and they've somehow managed to hide their scents now that they know they are being tracked down. She suggests we send out both of our best Trackers to track them down, and put the town in lock down. She'll assist in assigning wolves to guard."

Luke pursed his lips, sighing. "Who's going to chase after the lead?" he asked, too stressed and tired. He didn't sleep so well.

"From Creek Pack, Sierra said they'll take a Tracker, a Warrior and their Delta. From our side, I suggested a Truth Seeker, a Tracker and the Head Warrior," Peter replied, seeing Luke's expression change for the worst.

"Shanell is not going on that mission. Find someone else."

"B-but-"

"No! Find someone else capable," he ordered. He was not putting his girls in danger.

"I would volunteer to go, but I know you won't let me. How about you?"

"What about me?" Luke asked, confused.

"You go. There's no one else I could think of," Peter replied.

Luke kept quiet, pondering on the proposition. He didn't want any of his girls getting in danger, Peter was having a young one on the way and he was the only one available. He knew that Peter would take good care of the Pack and he also had his parents to help.

"I don't see a problem in that. I'm fact, arrange a meeting with my parents, Tamera, Shanell and Macey in our Meeting Room."

"I'll do that. Are you really sure about you going?" Peter asked, giving Luke a worried look.

"I'll be fine. Don't worry," he smiled, to which Peter smiled back and exited his office.

When he was alone, Luke placed his head on the table, sighing. The Pack was in good hands. They would make sure to take care of it. His parents were the former leaders, so they knew how to run a Pack.

His mother might disagree with his departure, but it couldn't have been a better time now to go look for his mate and on the other hand, eliminate the threat threatening his Pack. Killing two birds with one stone.

In no time, Peter called him to tell him about the meeting he arranged. It was an hour away, which made Luke groan because it was too far for his liking.

In order to pass time, he scrolled through his news feed, then came upon an article that had him reading it.

It was about the Killex poison. There were now about two hundred poisoned, with only ten dead.

He wondered if Creek Pack reported their deaths too, or not.

Before he could read further, there was a knock on his door. Tamera came in before Luke could invite her in.

"Alpha, we've just received a report that there was an attack in the town. Five people were poisoned," she announced, her phone against her ear.

"Who were they?"

"It's the Fitch family. They're being brought over as we speak. You still have the antidotes, right?" she asked, now removing her phone against her ear and looking at Luke.

Luke's mind worked overtime when asked about the antidotes. There were only ten left and they had to go wolf hunting, not knowing what awaited them. If they used five antidotes, they will only have five left.

Dammit!

He clutched his head, so conflicted. Mrs Fitch was an old lady, too old to be alive, but he didn't decide who got to live and who had to die.

"Call Dr Smith to my office, please," he told her, not replying to her question about the antidotes.

"I'll do that, Sir," she replied, then hurried out of the room.

Luke stood up, too conflicted. Mrs Fitch was an old lady. But no, she still deserved the antidote like the others.

"Sir, you called for me," Dr Smith entered, bowing a little.

"Remember you said you had a contact for the antidote?" he asked.

"Yes?"

"Please arrange for twenty-five antidotes. I'll arrange the money. And please be quick," he ordered.

"Alright,"

"You may be excused," he told Dr Smith, who bowed once again and walked out of the office. For their trip, they only needed three antidotes, but Luke wanted to double them for security.

He held his head in frustration, the thought of those disgusting wolves attacking on his territory infuriating him.

He walked out of his office with five antidotes, going to give them to Dr Smith for the treatment of the Fitch family. He was too stressed to think straight.

When he was done giving them to their doctor, he was going to their Meeting Room. He bumped into Shanell going down the hall.

She bowed when Luke stopped her.

"Tell my parents, Tamera, Peter and Macey to come to the meeting, now."

Shanell didn't waste any time and left right away. There was no time to waste.

They needed to catch those four wolves going around attacking their Pack.

Luke hurried to the Meeting room, his stress skyrocketing with the more he thought of his Pack being under attack. No, that could not happen. His Pack was not going to be under attack under his watch. No way!

When he entered the room, the long and empty mahogany table greeted him. He sat at the head of the table, waiting for the others.

They had to look for the wolves tomorrow. They had to leave tomorrow, the earliest because time was not on their side. If they could at least drive those wolves out of their territory, then Luke could breathe easily, but now he was struggling to even take a single breath.

It wasn't long before his parents and the others came, sitting at their respective seats. When they were settled in, Luke stood up to address them.

"Tomorrow, my team and I are leaving. I've decided that we can't wait any longer to catch those wolves terrorizing our Pack. They have already attacked the Fitch family, and it won't be long before they attack the other families. Mother and Father, I need you two to work together with Beta Peter in taking care of the Pack," he told them, already expecting his mother to disagree with his decision.

"Why are you only telling us now that you're leaving? Can't another person go?" Michelle asked, giving Luke her glare.

"Mother, there's no one I could think of letting them go on this mission. I'm going, tomorrow."

"But son, isn't this short notice? Did you even let the Pack know?" Samson contributed his two cents, making Luke sigh.

"You'll let them know. We can't delay this any further," he replied, sitting back down.

Shanell, Macey, Tamera and Peter were keeping quiet, not wanting to interfere in parents and son argument.

"Who are you taking then?" Michelle asked, frowning.

"Mia and Clark."

"What about Shanell?" she pointed to Shanell, who tried to make herself appear smaller because she was now the center of attention.

"I can't risk the safety of the Pack. Everyone who is capable is staying here. I can't risk it, Mother. And Beta Peter will brief you all about his meeting with the Creek Beta. I have to go pack my things." He stood up, getting ready to leave.

"How long will you be away?" Michelle asked, her stare too intense.

"It depends, Mother," Luke replied, then excused himself. He gestured for Peter to follow him. He also messaged Mia and Clark to get ready because they were leaving tomorrow. He also briefed them on what will happen and what they were going to do.

"I need you to send out our Trackers like Sierra suggested, okay? Make sure they come back before I leave," he ordered.

"Alright. Anything else?" Peter asked, walking by his side.

Luke shook his head and parted ways with Peter.

When Luke entered his room, he got to work right away, packing what he thought he needed.
