Trying to remain calm, he repeated the checks to himself, but this time muttering them out loud, hoping that a sense of what to do would come to him. "Environment." Nothing.
"Physical condition." Nothing.
"Mission." Nothing.
Suddenly the urge to try a different word came upon him As if propelled by another force he calmly intoned, "Status."
The result was instant, a large blue semi-transparent rectangle popping up in front of him. He reeled back in surprise, hitting his head on the tree behind him. After it failed to do anything else, he looked at it closer and found it was full of text that he didn't quite understand.
The box had different labels and numbers and while most of it didn’t make sense to him, some was obvious for even him to understand. There was a spot for a name, which he noticed was blank. While the lack of name had never bothered him before, having it actually spelled out (or NOT – in this case) was bringing back that empty feeling from earlier. He decided to keep reading through the visual to see what else it showed hoping for a clue as to why he was in his current predicament and what he was supposed to do next.
