Nine Lives

Part One: Meeting(02)

Part One: Meeting(02)

Oct 10, 2025

Silas frowned slightly at being interrupted again but quickly collected himself before answering Wallace with a raised eyebrow.

"Now, now don't look at me like that sweetheart." Wallace scolded him in a lighthearted voice, reaching up his hand to softly cup Silas's chin, caressing the skin near his lips with a finger. "You're too pretty to be frowning like that."

Silas went still at the touch, his red eyes gazing down into Wallace's bright green eyes as he felt the soft warm finger trace his lips, careful not to smudge his black lipstick before lightly rubbing the ends of his exposed fangs that hung under his top lip.

It took everything in Silas not to slap the offending hand away from his face, to push the older human away from his body-his personal space. Even Father Anontio, the head priest of the church, as physically affectionate as he was, was not nearly as invasive as the human slime against him.

But, Silas reminded himself as the finger crept away from his fangs and traveled up his face towards his hair, I must endure until it is the perfect time to strike. I should wait until we are finally alone, in his home, no witnesses to get in the way-

"Wallace, don't get too carried away." Silas warned him with a tight smile, grabbing his hand that was about to push away the dark hair covering the vampire's left eye. "Time is money. I'm sure you understand that well enough, right?"

The last thing Silas needed right now was to pique Wallace's interests in him anymore. If the older man had discovered the bandage over his eye hidden under the hair, more time would be wasted in this human infested dump.

The sooner Silas accomplished his goals, the faster he would be able to return to the church, to his family. He could already see Father Antonio waiting on him with his gentle smile, prepared to run him a bath and massage the tension out of his muscles with his soft hands- Sister Celia awaiting eagerly to hear the details about his mission with a cup of blood tea prepared for him- the twins thanking him with blood stained faces and teeth for their next meal-

Laughter brought Silas back to his reality, as Wallace moved his hand away from his face and signalled for the bartender to come over.

"Of course, my apologies. Let me fetch us something so we can finally get down to business." He lightly squeezed Silas's waist, causing a wave of nausea to run through the vampire's body before ignoring the uncomfortable feeling to smile at the older man.

Silas watched as Wallace ordered a drink for himself before asking for Silas's drink to be refilled. The vampire narrowed his eyes when Wallace gave the bartender a wink while sliding the glass over to him, the human in return giving a slight nod while accepting the cup. It wasn't long before his glass was returned to him filled with the same dark red liquid as before accompanied by a glass of dark amber-like liquid.

"Let's drink together, at the same time." Wallace suggested with a smile as Silas picked up his glass, observing it while the human beside him mirrored his actions. "Don't worry I didn't add anything to the drink. Trust me, it's hard to have fun if there is only one person awake."

If Wallace's joking words were meant to reassure Silas, then it failed to complete its goal. However, Silas couldn't spot any obvious tampering with his drink, no fizzling, no color change- nothing of that sort. Then again, he didn't look away for a second when the bartender passed back the drinks, ensuring Wallace didn't have the opportunity to slide anything inside. Still, for a moment Silas was rather hesitant to consume the liquid before steadying himself and looking Wallace in the eye once again.

"Fine, let's drink it together then. I guess I'll trust you, tonight."

Wallace's smile widened at Silas's agreement, entwining his arms with the vampire's longer pale arm. Silently, the two raised their glasses to their lips, gulping down their drinks while maintaining eye contact with each other, not one blink until the glasses were empty and placed back on the bar.

"Now, we can make our exit." Wallace squeezed Silas's hips again while placing some money next to their empty glasses before guiding him away from the bar and towards the crowd, with one arm around his waist.

Silas felt fine as they walked through the dancing bodies, internally laughing at himself for getting so worked up over the drinks. It wasn't until they were almost off the dance floor when a wave of dizziness slammed over him , almost causing Silas to bump into another person as he stumbled over his own feet.

What the-Silas stopped moving which made Wallace turn back to look at him with a questioning gaze but the vampire ignored him. Instead, he focused on his hands, his vision blurring around the edges as they shook. For the first time tonight, panic began to grow inside Silas as he could feel his body slowly start to shut down on him, his legs beginning to grow weak and numbness creeping around his tongue-silencing him before he could even try to speak.

"You know I wasn't lying about the drink." Wallace's voice echoed in Silas's head as the older man supported his limp body against himself, the strong arms tight around his waist as he practically dragged the vampire out of the dancing crowd. "But I never said anything about the glass itself, you know? Well, I guess you didn't."

Silas winced as the vibrations of Wallace's chuckle bounced around his skull, his eyelids slowly tugging down as his vision got blurrier, his head resting against some part of Wallace's shorter figure. The vampire tried fighting back against the oppressive influence in his body but it was too late, whatever he consumed was in his system and spreading fast, reducing him to nothing but a doll to be played with.

With the last of his strength, Silas forced his head up only to be met with Wallace's eerily green eyes and his wide toothy grin. The things I do for the church. That was the young male vampire's last thoughts before letting darkness overtake him.

As a "faithful" follower of the Soul Eater and Madame Justice, it is Brother Silas's duty to collect the souls of those who owe a debt to the church alongside his partner, Sister Celia. However, one day, he is assigned the task of completing a soul hunting mission by himself, needing to prove that he is capable of completing his duties without any assistance. It's just his luck that his target seems to have an unhealthy fascination with vampires....
