The Forgotten Memory

The Betrayal of a Family

The Betrayal of a Family

Oct 11, 2025

Through the closed-off city of Marai Island, Clive, 5 years after he was welcomed in, walked down the main road that was between the two big apartments; he seemed to be waiting for someone in particular as he was pacing around in the same place. Suddenly the same metallic rustle he had heard when he first got in his city was heard; someone had just opened the main gate of the city, but when Clive walked closer to the gate to see who was there, his eyes widened in mere moments; it was Catherina, his stepsister. She had been out hunting for food in the surrounding area for the past week to make sure that everyone in the city would be fed enough, but she came back with no meat? This confused Clive and the nearby citizens; Lady Kushin was one of their best hunters. How could she possibly come back empty-handed after a full week in the wild?

But before anyone could ask the lady any question, a sharp gasp of pain was heard in the middle of the crowd, which made Clive take his eyes away from his sister to look at what was happening. What he saw could disturb any sane person: a grotesque hand right through someone’s face before it suddenly pulled back and ripped right through the victim’s face, letting their body slump over to reveal the person behind this grotesque killing. Catherina’s eyes widened at what she saw in front of Clive.

A tall, malformed, and distorted amount of flesh that was almost humanoid-like, as if its body had been melted together. It had no nose; its singular eye was simply staring at Catherina as if it recognized her.

Catherina, without a single thought, pushed Clive to the side, ordering him to protect the other parts of the city and make sure there were no other monstrous things like that thing before her. However, before he could even move away from the scene, the monster’s limp arm transformed into a sharp amalgam of flesh and swung through the buildings of the city, aimed directly at Catherina’s neck. Clive didn’t even have time to react before Catherina swiftly dodged under the human flesh blade before quickly raising her hand and making a 90-degree angle with it, readying an attack of her own as the creature let out a horrific set of words.

Dargelionna: Skull of the Bloody Maiden.

Catherina quickly understood the severity and danger she was in at those simple words, so she sent out a powerful cut directly toward the figure before her, hitting it square in the face.

A cloud of smoke erupted from the figure’s face as it let out a loud, twisted chuckle that almost sounded human. The ground began to shake as a skull erupted right out of the ground behind Catherina. As she turned around to take in the sight, her eyes began to bleed as she slowly started to feel sleepier and sleepier. She knew that this foe was way too strong for her Clive to handle alone. So there was simply one thing in her mind at that moment.

I’m going to die.

But at the same time…something seemed to confuse her. The figure before her seemed to be bleeding from its face? And… was that Clive behind it? With a sword in his hand. What just happened?

Drip..Drip

Clive’s eyes widened as he saw a terrifying sight before him; the figure he had just slashed in half was…melting? and hair appeared… a human face… a face with four eyes?

The man didn’t even bother to glance back toward the man behind him as he let out a deep chuckle before raising an arm and pointing a finger toward one of the buildings as a ball of energy formed at the tip of his finger. The ball seemed to pull everything toward it gently until a chant was heard from the man’s lips.

Gravitational Manipulation: Attraction

Clive and his sister were pulled directly toward the ball and were sent crashing into the wall. Clive let out a loud grunt as he collapsed on the ground. He attempted to grip onto his sword, but… it was gone? He lifted his eyes, trying to find it, as he realized not only was his sword gone, but his whole right arm had been torn off by the man, and his sword was right through his sister’s chest as the man smirked as he glared at Clive.

With a swift tug of his wrist, the man pulled the blade out of her chest, letting her stumble onto the ground. The man’s eyes seemed to widen as he seemed to realize where he knew her from; he pulled out a cube-like object from his pocket as the fallen lady muttered a chant.

Dargelionna: Axis Severance.

The air seemed to shift as a prison-like barrier seemed to surround the body of the lady and the man.

The stronger one’s will is, the stronger their prison barrier shall be. However, since Catherina Kushin had been weakened a lot by the use of the Skull of the Bloody Maiden, her prison barrier is as weak as an old piece of wood.

The sound of glass breaking could be heard throughout all of the city as Catherina was absorbed through the cube-like object that the man was holding. He glanced up from the cube to look directly at Clive as his cheek let out a smoke cloud as it seemed to be healing. Clive took notice of that healing and noticed why his sister used her ultimate move even though it was sure to fail; she wanted him to know that man could heal, as she knew Clive’s ability.

Clive stumbled forward, grabbing his sword from the ground before lunging forward at the man before him. At that same moment the man felt a strange sensation as if his brain was being controlled; his eyes widened as he realized what was happening as soon as he glanced to his feet, seeing the cut-off arm of Clive touching him. This man still had a form of connection to his arm… But what was this feeling? It was as if some information about his powers was being copied on a disk drive and being handed out directly to Clive.

Suddenly, Clive’s arm emitted a bunch of smoke as the severed arm came flying back to him and attached itself right back onto it.

The man’s eyes were shocked, but not with fear, but amazement. He had only heard of his past master of someone with powers like this.

Before another blink could happen from his eyes, Clive had lunged forward again, and his hand pressed directly onto the man’s face. The same feeling from before happened, but something was different… as the man looked around… He was…on a beach?

Clive’s ability Waver allows him, with a mere touch, to freely interfere with the target’s brainwaves. Think of Clive as a television remote from another company that is still able to somehow interact with another company’s television. That alone is a feat worthy of being crowned as godly. However, the man before him was also on the ground of godly feat, This man was called Astaroth. Clive could only maintain the use of his power onto that man for a simple 5 second before it came off.

Astaroth quickly lunged for Clive, trying to grab for his face, but Clive quickly sidestepped the incoming attack and quickly replied with a sharp swing of his blade straight through the man’s neck. But fear could only strike Clive’s eyes as he turned around to see Astaroth make a hand sign before chanting.

Dargelionna: Chains of the Bloody Maiden

Chains of flesh wrapped themselves around Clive; his vision was almost instantly changed, his hair was a bit longer… And he wasn’t in the city anymore? Did this man’s power have the same type of effect as his? …

He was standing on a hill, alone, glancing down toward a pyramid-like structure that stood tall on the ground below. Intrigued, Clive decided to climb down the cliff to go explore that pyramid.

Finally on the ground, Clive began to walk through a small puddle toward the pyramid until something seemed to wrap itself around his legs, keeping him in place. Clive took a single glance down, and there it was. A…slime girl? Where the fuck was he? Clive thought to himself.

The slime-like lady extended her slimy arms toward him, which Clive immediately received as a threat. Without a single blink, Clive unsheathed his blade and cut through the slime’s neck. But looking back at it…the slime looked like it was made of flesh…the same flesh from Astaroth’s Dargelionna.

A single blink brought Clive right back to reality, standing right in front of Astaroth. The man’s eyes widened as he saw that his victim had broken out so easily, and before he could even react, Clive gripped him by the throat and slammed him to the ground before ruthlessly punching him over and over and over and over and over and over and over until he was just a stain of blood on the ground. His head had been severed at multiple places, and his torso was torn open.

But even after all of that, Astaroth could only smile evilly as his cube-like object released Catherina from it. She was staring forward with an empty gaze, holding a red gem in her hand.

Without even looking at Clive once, she crouched down next to Astaroth and murmured a chant.

HEAL

Clive’s eyes widen in confusion as Astaroth stands up once more because of the help of his sister. Why was she helping him… And what was up with Astaroth’s body? Astaroth wounds had fully healed but they were now covered in a blackish liquid full of eyes that stared right into Clive's soul

Astaroth immediately sent a punch toward Clive’s face, which Clive easily dodged to the side before returning a punch, which Astaroth also dodged twice as fast. As Clive went to turn around to stare at Astaroth to prepare himself for another attack, another chant was heard.

Slice

Clive’s face was torn apart by multiple cuts that blinded him on the left side of his face. Astaroth let out a mocking laugh before saying to Clive that if that’s all that he got, he definitely wouldn’t survive even a week in the world that his queen was going to create.

Clive let out a small gasp of confusion, queen? new world? wait.. was Catherina and Astaroth working together now? What the hell happen while she was stuck in the box for her to change so dramatically.

Clive took a simple glance at Catherina who was now staring at the gem as it swung from it string until something horrific and confusing happen. An eye appeared on the gem and a sudden wave of energy blew the city apart and threw Clive right into the rubles of the building but of course, Astaroth seemed unaffected by the sudden wave of energy.

Clive slowly regained his senses before he looked up at a figure floating through the sky.

There stood his sister and Astaroth standing proud and tall in the sky.

Meet our queen Clive. Astaroth said.

Catherina’s body had fully transformed into something demonic. She was naked with fire covering her parts as a mouth full of teeth was there on her stomach and a single eye was on her forehead staring deeply at Clive.

Clive then passed out on the ground not knowing if he would even wake up.

Catherina murmured something to Astaroth, something about sending him to the nearby sanctuary for him to be sealed in or whatever.

As Astaroth left, a man emerged from the ruble, most likely one of the knights that used to work with the hunter association that worked to get rid of all evil infected. He aimed his large sword toward Catherina and demanded that she should remove that gem and throw it away because of how dangerous it is but before he could even finish speaking Catherina let out a quick chant.

Red gem: Infection

The knight did not have any time to react as his left eye was gauged out and his flesh seemed to start melting or transforming, he let out a large guttural scream of pain as his body seemed to loose control, he eventually collapsed at Catherina’s feet as she smirked.

You shall be one of my generals, She says.
