As Tina walked into the house, she found her mom sitting on the floor in the sitting room, surrounded by old photo albums. Tina dropped her bag on the seat and joined her mom on the floor, curiosity getting the better of her. "What are you doing?" she asked, her voice soft.
Her mom glanced up at her, a faint smile on her face, before returning her gaze to the album. "Just going through old memories," she replied, her voice tinged with nostalgia. Both of them sat in silence for a while, flipping through the pages, reminiscing about the past.
The silence was broken by Mrs. Flora's voice, laced with concern. "I miss Lisa. Ever since she got married, I haven't seen her. We speak to her only once in a while, like it's an appointment. I feel worried." Tina's eyes met her mom's, and she saw the worry etched on her face.
Tina quickly pulled out her phone and showed her mom Lisa's latest post on social media. "Lisa is fine, Mom," she said, trying to reassure her. As she drew close to her mom, she wrapped her arms around her in a warm hug, trying to hide her own worries about Lisa's situation.
Luke was having a drink with his friends, the evening wearing on as they chatted and laughed. Alex turned to him with a mocking glint in his eye. "Don't you have to be home now? Your wife might get worried," he said, his tone dripping with amusement.
Just then, Oliver walked in, apologetic. "I'm sorry I'm late. I got caught up with something," he said, taking a seat beside them. Alex stretched out his hand, offering Oliver a glass. "It's fine," he said, as Oliver took the glass from him.
As they continued to chat, Oliver's phone suddenly rang, shrill in the air. He glanced at the screen but refused to answer it, letting it ring out. But the caller was persistent, and the phone rang again. "Pick up your call," Luke said, noticing Oliver's reluctance.
Alex looked at Oliver's countenance and burst out laughing. "That must be your wife? " he teased, his eyes sparkling with mirth. Oliver didn't deny it, his face sheepish.
Alex turned to Luke, his curiosity getting the better of him. "Why hasn't yours called?" he asked, referring to Luke's wife, Lisa. Oliver chimed in, "Luke, you really amassed us. I wasn't expecting you to get married so soon, and even if you were, we never heard anything about her, not even once. Like she's not some popular girl or from a popular family." Luke's expression remained calm, but Oliver's words hung in the air, laced with a mixture of surprise and curiosity.
Before Luke could respond, Oliver's phone interrupted, ringing loudly in the silence. He picked it up angrily, his voice sharp as he barked, "What?" But the voice on the other end was his secretary's, and Oliver's demeanor changed instantly. When he hung up, Alex looked at Luke and Oliver and burst into laughter, the tension broken.
