"I mean, you guys can make me the hat I like," he said, giving her a harmless smile.
Emma didn't trust guys like these, too confident and charming, looking as if they had every right to interfere everywhere. She walked away as she was sure Romy would perfectly help him.
Emma sat by her counter and continued crocheting the wide-brimmed hat she was making before her grandma had called her for their daily magical hat-making class. The hat was inspired by the black wavy hat worn by the actress in the Spy movie. She looked so cool in it that Emma had wanted to make one and sell it. Emma was going to add delicate threads in a 3D pattern on it that changed colors according to directions. It was her specialty, and she was really happy doing it.
"See, this is the portfolio. What do you want? Maybe one as a best man?" Romy asked the guy with a huge, irritating smile on his face.
"No, no, I want a normal one, you know, for a housewarming party. I'm your new neighbour, you know, I bought the manor at the end of the street."
Emma wasn't eavesdropping, considering she should have been immersed in her hat, but this information was way too explosive. The vampire manor had found a new owner. At least the bats won't terrorize them, right?
"Ah, so you are the guy who bought it, a handsome guy, I guess the witches would want to meet you!"
This was another thing Emma disliked. Witches were way too casual in their relationships, and a guy like him would cause many misunderstandings by staying here. So many fights and irritating breakups and all. No peace for her then.
"No, no! I'm staying with my niece and nephew, and they aren't feeling well, and we like calm environments; they chose the house."
That was good. They were a calm bunch of people.
"Aw, what's plaguing them?"
"It's a very old curse that will be broken soon."
Romy didn't hear it, but Emma felt his tone change before becoming the same cheerful one he was sporting.
"Can you make smaller ones for my two ten year old kids too? Same design!"
"That's Emma's design! Emma, EMMA!"
Emma walked over to them, and he was right, the guy had picked her design. It was a hat with floral patterns. A simple wired one that was added with yarn woven with a netted cloth, it had no magic imbued, but it looked beautiful.
"I'll take your order. It takes me ten days to make a bigger one, and three days for a smaller one. You need three, I can get them done in fifteen days!"
The guy nodded.
"Where do I pay the deposit?"
Emma got a book and asked him to sign the order. Magical books copy the receipt, and she needed his signature to make it magically binding.
He signed.
Caleb Woodsworth
Caleb was a nice name, Emma thought, watching him sign.
She has a hat, and he wants it. He comes to steal it, and they become friends. But when he leaves, she is heartbroken by the betrayal. She becomes the powerful Hat Maker, and he comes back to apologize! Will she forgive him?
Caleb is a werewolf who is cursed by a family spell. It says that no one in his family can use magic without suffering. He can be okay with it, but seeing his nephew and niece, he decides to steal the Ancient Hat that can reverse spells. It is his last choice, but he didn't expect to fall for the cute Hat-Maker.
Emma is a witch who is not particularly interested in making Hats. Her family loves hats, but she wants to just sit at the cash register. It all changes when the hat that bound their magic is stolen, and she is the only one who has magic to help her family. Can she forget the person who left her desperate?
