Miz went in and out of sleep for two days. Lee was a mess of panic and anxiety at the thought of losing his last friend. On the third night Miz was able to open his eyes just long enough to see Lee, whose eyes looked devoid of life pressing something cold against his forehead. As mizs eyes fluttered close again all he could think was how glad he was to have Lee by his side. Two more days passed before Miz regained consciousness. Miz was expecting to find Lee asleep on top of him, but when he awoke he saw Lee barely sitting up, still pressing a cold cloth against his forehead. Lee couldn't keep his eyes focused, his face gaunt from lack of sleep and nutrients.
As soon as Lee saw Mizs eyes open with eyes clear of sickness Lee gave him a big bright smile before his body went into shut down mode. As soon as Lee fell on top of Miz he shot up, worried he just witnessed his friends' last moments. Miz rolled Lee to his back and pressed his ear against Lees chest. Miz heard a strong steady heartbeat with steady deep breaths. Miz let out a sigh of relief before struggling to drag Lee onto the sleeping bag.
As soon as Miz got Lee onto the sleeping bag he fainted from over exerting himself. When Miz awoke the sun was high in the sky and Lee was staring at him. His eyes examining every little twitch and breath. Mizs face turned redder than the ripest tomato. Lees face relaxed seeing Miz actually move around. Lee softly chuckled before asking Miz if he was okay. Before Miz could answer his stomach let out a growl that could rival a demons screech. Miz was so embarrassed that his stomach answered before he could say a proper word. Lee out a boisterous laugh.
"Ahem, I’m much better, but I think it's time to eat." Miz said clearing his throat, trying to keep a straight face. "I would love to grab you some food but my legs currently won't listen to mt." Lee said giving a cheeky smile. "Ahem, Ahem it's only right I grab the food since you took care of me." Miz said trying to hide his embarrassment behind his hands, staring slightly at the ground. Mizs hands slid down his face as he gave Lee a serious but gentle look as he said. "But really thank you for staying by my side this whole time." Lee could only stare at Miz beautifully earnest face, feeling his heart flutter for the first time.
Miz started to feel embarrassed again from Lees intense stare. Miz awkwardly shuffled away to grab some food. Lee couldn’t take his eyes off of Miz. It didn’t matter what movement Miz made, Lee didn’t want to miss even a second. "Um Lee, could you stop staring please?" Miz said, trying not to turn tomato red. Lee grinned and laid back down. Miz couldn't fully understand the reason why his heart kept racing like a track horse, the only possible conclusion he could come up with was the sudden apocalypse. While Miz was engrossed in his thoughts Lee turned his head, obsession gleaming in his eyes.
The thoughts of how to keep Miz by his side kept swirling through his brain. Miz turned around with his arms full of food and drink. In that split second of Miz turning Lee eased his expression so as not to scare off his new source obsession. Miz felt a chill down his back as he started towards Lee. Miz has never felt a chill like this before but for some reason he REALLY liked the feeling. Lee sat back up and grabbed a bag of chips and a bottle of water. While opening his chip bag Lee wanted to make sure Miz was on the same page. "We should make sure to conserve water." Miz looked up crumbs all over his face. It took Miz a second to process what he heard through his monstrous crunching, vigorously nodding his head yes, sending crumbs flying absolutely everywhere.
Lee lightly chuckled at Mizs disheveled appearance. "We need to leave today." Lee said with a gentle voice to hopefully keep Miz from panicking. Miz stopped eating and shot up slightly startling Lee. Lee kept eating while watching Miz run to the backpacks and start putting things away. "I'm ready whenever!" Miz said with a determined face. Lee finished his tiny bag of chips and grabbed one of the packs. "We're going to have to climb but be careful some of the rocks may be slippery." Lee said while walking over to the edge of the cave. Miz gulped deep following behind Lee.
Lee started first, checking each rock to make sure it was sturdy for both him and Miz. Lee made it to the top with little effort making sure to check the landing before pulling himself all the way up. Miz was having a little more difficulty climbing but with little elbow grease and a whole lot of sweat he was able to make it to the top where he made a critical error and barely missed the last rock. The smile he had turned into panic as Miz felt his body embrace the flow of gravity. The two milliseconds Miz was falling felt like years as he recalled his life. Miz thought this was the end for him and all he could think about was Lee and how he wished he could have stayed with him just a little longer. Miz closed his eyes as he waited for the ground's impact, but nothing came. Miz was very confused as time seemed to move at double speed. Miz finally opened his eyes to see Lee had grabbed his outstretched hand.
