The Demon Realm’s Greatest Spender: Origins

The Price of Provocation

The Price of Provocation

Oct 19, 2025

The smoke of destruction still lingered over the ruins of the Chalice guild.
Ash and ember swirled through the broken air,
and at the center of it all stood **Jexy Bakian**, motionless—
his shadow cast long against the fractured stone.

Only a few seconds had passed since the last scream.
The mighty A-rank guild *Devourer’s Soul* was gone.
Only one still drew breath—barely.

Kagura M’Zern, once feared across half the Demon Realm,
now lay crumpled before Jexy’s feet,
his massive body twitching under waves of agony.

Jexy’s gaze was calm, cold, and absolute.
He stepped closer, his voice a quiet growl that rumbled through the air.

“Don’t worry,” he said,
“you’re not dying that easily.”

He clenched his fist.
The air itself warped as he drove it into Kagura’s gut.

*Boom.*

The ogre’s body folded under the impact,
a shockwave tearing through what was left of the hall.
Before Kagura could collapse,
another blow crashed into his jaw—
then his ribs—then his chest again.

Each strike was deliberate, restrained,
yet powerful enough to splinter stone.
Jexy wasn’t killing him.
He was **making him feel** what pain truly was.

Kagura’s laughter and arrogance from earlier were long gone.
Now there was only gasping, coughing,
and the sound of blood hitting the floor.

Minutes later, Jexy grabbed the battered ogre by the neck,
his golden eyes glowing faintly in the smoke.

“Let’s go visit your guild,” he said flatly.

He dragged Kagura’s limp body out into the night—
through the broken streets,
leaving a trail of blood and silence in his wake.

The demons of Solneva scattered as he passed.
None dared approach.

Before long, the two arrived before the towering gates
of *Devourer’s Soul*.
The guards froze when they saw their guildmaster’s mangled form
being dragged across the ground.

Jexy stopped at the entrance,
glanced up at the massive insignia carved into the wall—
a vortex devouring a red skull—
and smiled faintly.

“Let me return your leader,” he murmured.

He swung his arm.
Kagura’s body soared through the air like a ragdoll
and crashed through the gates,
rolling lifelessly into the center hall.

For a brief moment, silence.
Then came the roar of outrage.

“Bastard!”
“Kill him!”

Dozens of armed demons rushed out,
weapons drawn, spells gathering at their fingertips.

But Jexy didn’t even blink.

He simply raised his hand—
and the world exploded.

A wave of forbidden energy erupted from him,
flames and shadows intertwining into a living storm.
Runes lit the air like falling stars;
every single spell that touched his aura
was reflected, magnified, and consumed.

Within seconds, *Devourer’s Soul* was engulfed in fire.
Buildings melted.
Streets cracked open.
Demons screamed once—and vanished.

The once-mighty guild was gone,
reduced to glowing ash drifting in the wind.

Far away, inside the Demon King’s throne hall,
the magic projection showed every moment.

Dawf Bakian rose to his feet,
his laughter echoing through the vast chamber.

“Did you see that?!” he bellowed.
“Did you SEE that?!
That’s my grandson!
That’s the true power of the Bakian bloodline!”

The councilors exchanged uneasy looks,
but none dared interrupt.

Dawf threw his arms wide, still grinning.
“I’ve always said it—this boy is destined for greatness!
The next Demon King, without a doubt!”

He leaned back on his throne, eyes shining with pride.
“Ha ha ha ha ha! My grandson—unstoppable!”

Jexy Bakian should have been the next great Demon Lord.
Instead, he became the biggest disappointment in the entire Demon Realm.

Born with infinite mana and permanent no-chant casting—abilities every magician dreams of—Jexy could have conquered nations.
But after realizing his grandfather is the infamous “Soul of Ruin,” a literal world-ending demon, Jexy decides there’s only one logical solution:

Don’t work. Don’t fight. Don’t care.

Now branded as the Spoiled Heir, Jexy spends his days drinking, gambling, dodging political meetings, and driving his family’s advisors insane.
His loyal succubus maid, Freya Monar, keeps trying to make him act “like a proper noble.”
He keeps pretending not to hear her.

Unfortunately, trouble keeps finding him anyway—duels, demon tournaments, overdramatic heroes, and the occasional holy crusade.
And somehow, every time he tries to avoid chaos, he ends up in the center of it.

The Demon Realm calls him a disgrace.
His enemies call him a joke.
But when things get serious, everyone learns the same painful truth—
the laziest man in the underworld is also the most overpowered idiot alive.
