Savoured Embrace

Oct 20, 2025

Lisa sat in the car, her mind preoccupied with the meeting her mother-in-law had arranged. She was lost in thought when she suddenly asked the driver to drop her off on the road. The driver hesitated, unsure if he should comply with her request. But Lisa's tone was firm, and he eventually gave in.

As the car pulled over, Lisa told the driver to go home without her. She stepped out of the vehicle and watched as it drove away. The fresh air hit her, and she decided to take a walk, clearing her mind of the thoughts that had been plaguing her.

Later that evening, Lisa made her way to her aunt's house. Tina and her mom were about to sit down for dinner when the booming sound of the door interrupted them. They paused, wondering if they had really heard the door open. When they heard the sound again, Tina got up to check.

Her eyes lit up with excitement as she saw Lisa standing in the doorway. "Lisa!" she exclaimed, rushing over to hug her tightly. Mrs. Flora, however, looked beyond Lisa, her eyes scanning the hallway.

"Where is your husband?" she asked, her brow furrowed in concern. "What are you doing here?"

Tina chimed in, "Mom, can't Lisa visit us without her husband?" She smiled mischievously, trying to deflect her mom's question.

But Mrs. Flora's eyes remained fixed on Lisa, her expression searching. Lisa's silence spoke volumes, and her aunt's thoughts began to wander. "You got into a fight with your husband, didn't you?" she asked, her voice softening.

Lisa quickly defended herself, "No, Auntie, I just wanted to visit you guys. That's all." She smiled brightly, trying to reassure them.

Her aunt nodded, seeming to accept Lisa's explanation. Lisa joined them at the dinner table, and they ate together, the conversation flowing easily. For a while, she forgot about her troubles, enjoying the warmth and love of her family.

Later into the night, Lisa's phone rang, and she answered, seeing Luke's name on the screen. "Your driver said you got down in the middle of the road, where are you?" Luke's questions came quickly, his tone laced with concern. "Do you need me to come pick you up?"

Lisa hesitated, unsure of how to respond. "No, I... I... am at my aunt's house," she said finally. "I just wanted to see them."

After hanging up the call, Luke couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. He knew Lisa well enough to sense when she was hiding something, and he suspected that the meeting with his mother might have had something to do with her sudden decision to visit her aunt. But he couldn't bring himself to ask her further questions, not yet, anyway. He was worried, and the uncertainty lingered in his mind.

The next morning, Luke woke up to an empty house . Lisa was nowhere to be found, and the house felt quieter than usual. Luke missed her presence, and the realization hit him harder than he expected. As he prepared to leave for work, he suddenly turned around and went back inside. He called out to Dorcas, his housekeeper, and asked her to pack a few things that Lisa might need.

Luke's actions seemed innocent enough, but deep down, he was looking for an excuse to meet Lisa. He wanted to see her, to talk to her. The questions that had been plaguing him since the previous night still lingered, and he hoped that seeing her would provide him some relief.

Luke arrived at the house and knocked on the door. Mrs. Flora answered, a warm smile spreading across her face as she saw him. "You miss your wife already?" she teased, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

Luke just smiled, not wanting to admit the truth. Mrs. Flora showed him to Lisa's room, inviting him to go inside. Luke hesitated, unsure if he should enter, but Mrs. Flora's gentle prodding encouraged him to step in.

As he entered the room, he looked around, expecting to see Lisa. But she was nowhere to be found. Just as he was scanning the space, a door suddenly swung open, and Lisa emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, with her underwear in her hand.

Their eyes met, and Luke's gaze immediately darted away, his face growing hot. Lisa, realizing her predicament, quickly threw the underwear back into the bathroom and shut the door, her face flushing with embarrassment.

The two of them stood awkwardly for a moment, the tension between them palpable. Luke tried his best not to look at Lisa, still feeling the shock of the unexpected encounter. "I thought you might need some things from home," he said, rolling the bag over to her. "I decided to stop by before heading to work."

Lisa smiled, amused by his cute attitude. "Really?" she said, her voice laced with teasing. "Thank you," she added, her eyes sparkling with mirth.

As Luke prepared to leave for work, he met Tina in the hallway. She barely acknowledged him, her gaze fleeting before she slipped into Lisa's room. Luke smiled to himself.

"I'll be off to work," Luke said to Mrs. Flora, who was watching him from the living room.

Mrs. Flora  insisted that he sit down for breakfast, but Luke explained that he was already running late. He apologized and bid them farewell, leaving the house for his office.

Meanwhile, Lisa was rummaging through the bag Luke had brought, a smile spreading across her face as she checked the contents. Tina joined her, peering into the bag with a mixture of curiosity and disdain.

"I'm sure he didn't pack this bag, Dorcas did," Tina said, her tone dripping with skepticism. She raised an eyebrow, implying that Luke's effort to bring Lisa's things was more of a gesture than a genuine attempt to be helpful. Lisa's smile faltered for a moment, but she continued to unpack the bag, her
