"What? I was enjoying the show." Silas sarcastically said out loud. "What a shame you cut it off so early."

There was no answer. Only a loud rubble that sounded similar to a growl. It did not like his words at all.

Silas opens his mouth to antagonize it more when the space underneath him begins to shake. The vampire narrowed his eyes and darted off to the side-just in time for black hand shaped forms shooting out of the ground where he was previously standing.

"You will not escape, intruder."

Silas didn't bother wasting his time talking back to the voice. Instead he stood up and brought his fingers into his eye again. This time instead of pulling out a crystal, he slowly slid out a long pair of scissors. The entire form from the handles down to the blade was covered in pure blackness just like the ooze dripping out of Silas's eye as he glared at the hands that dared to try and touch his body.

"You aren't the first vampire who's life we'll take and I'll ensure you won't be the last."

The ground rumbled again underneath him but Silas separated the blades of his scissors and began slicing before the hands could grab him. The sliced parts fell onto the ground and melted back into the floor, a loud hissing in the air.

"Stop playing and come fight me yourself." Silas demanded while cleaning the slimy substance off his blades by wiping it on his sleeves."Instead of hiding like a coward."

He could easily defend himself from the hands but he couldn't finish the job unless it revealed itself to him.

Just like Wallace-trying to take its time and toy with me, Silas thought sourly, hissing as he cut through another hand trying to sneak up behind him.

If his partner in crime was here, they would've been able to split up the task. Celia would have distracted it while Silas tracked it down and finished it with his blades. But now he was supposed to multi-task or figure out how to successfully do both tasks alone.

Failure was not an option.

Fortunately, it seemed to be easily riled up from Silas's demands. Guess it didn't like being told what to do by a vampire of all things because the ground started vibrating again but the shaking was much stronger and rougher-almost sending Silas to the ground if he didn't balance himself.

"I know not who you are or why you are here but I know what I must do."

Silas bit his tongue to prevent himself from making a snarky response but narrowed his eyes as he watched a large lump pulsate from the ground. Then something broke free through the surface, moving fast as it immediately crawled towards Silas. The vampire just barely saw what was heading towards him before dodging as sharp nails attempted to claw his face off. He threw a kick, knocking the hand away before jumping back to put some space between the two of them. He panted slightly as he finally got a good look at it.

The soul guardian, the keeper and protector of his target's soul.

The guardian had no legs. Instead it was a large skeletal torso with several arms akin to that of a spider but its head was humanish-a strange combination of a skull and Wallace's face.

An outright abomination that should have never existed or at least that is what Silas thought.

Though not the worst or strangest form he's seen a soul guardian take when defending its human. Still, the vampire would've preferred not to see Wallace's perverted face again.Yet this world has shown him more cruelty than anything so he wasn't fazed in the slightest as he raised one of his blades towards the guardian, his voice low and his brows furrowed.

"Just die already, you disgusting waste of space."

There were no more verbal exchanges after that. No more declarations of violent threats or promises. Just the guardian sprinting towards Silas, arms outstretched-hands ready to grab and rip him into shreds, the gaping mouth screeching.

At the same time, the outreaching hands from the ground appeared again, trying to grab Silas by the legs-trapping him in place. Silas hissed when he felt the hard unmoving fingers gripping tightly against his legs, slicing them without any hesitation-just in time for him to be tackled straight to the ground by the guardian. Silas grunted as he landed on his back hard, wincing as he felt sharp nails digging into his shoulders. Above him, the sorry excuse of the Wallace-skeletal face hybrid slowly split apart, revealing rows and rows of teeth.

Ew, Silas frowned when he saw drool forming in the exposed mouth, his hands tightening on his blades. The vampire was not going to let this excuse of a guardian drool on him after having the nerve to tackle him. With a grunt, Silas brought his knee up hard into the underbelly of the guardian. It arched its back while screeching in pain, lifting itself off of Silas, its nails leaving the vampire's shoulders.

Ignoring the pulsing pain and possibly bleeding marks in his shoulders, Silas sat up and wasted no time while it was distracted by the pain to aim one of his blades for its exposed throat-mercilessy, slashing it.

Silas did not blink as black sizzling ooze began spraying from its neck, lightly coating his face and body; the guardian's ugly head coming straight off-its expression stuck in a silent mixture of pain and anger. It landed with a hard thud against the ground, bouncing off it and rolling further away from Silas. For the guardian's body, it immediately slumped right to the ground after losing it's head, no longer spraying but still oozing the unknown substance.

The hands on SIlas's legs disappeared the moment he cut off the guardian's head, settling back into the ground. With a sigh, the vampire laid down on his back again, catching his breath. His shoulders were still sore from where the nails punctured them earlier however he could feel the skin underneath the fabric of his clothes slowly healing and knitting itself back together. Not even a scar would be left though the stain of his blood and the scent of it would still be a reminder of the damage. Sweat rolled down his forehead and cheeks, soaking into his black hair or down his neck, the sensation combined with his former injuries making the urge to go home and wash the mission's filth off of him more appealing.

But his job was not done.

With a sigh, Silas slowly stood up, eyeing the decapitated soul guardian below him. Silas narrowed his eyes at the body while combining his two blades back into a full pair of scissors again. Holding onto the giant slender scissors with both hands, the vampire raised his weapon in the air before striking it down into the exposed torso. Silas dug deep inside before pulling it down into a straight line watching the flesh part before him with a blank expression.

This was one of Celia's favorite parts. He could hear the girl's giggles in his ear as he worked, pulling the blade out and setting it off to the side. If his partner was here, she would've asked-no begged Silas to let her be the one to dig out the soul from the guardian. Not that Silas minded, he was not a fan of feeling around the insides of guardians (even if some of them were made up in forms that made soul retrieval easier and less complicated than this).

Silas shook his head at the thoughts of the smiling bubbly woman- if he was a stranger he wouldn't have ever guessed she had a sadistic streak either that or a love for bloody gory things. Sometimes, it was hard to tell.

"Finally." Silas mumbles to himself as he slowly fishes out a crystal from the guardian's body.

He held it carefully in the palm of his hands, examining it with his sharp eyes. There were small natural cracks against the surface of the soul crystal, the usual wear and tear that comes with people like Wallace. The Great Mother didn't take too kindly to those who hurt her creations for their own wicked selfish reasons or so Celia taught him. The state of a soul depends on the actions of its carer and the choices they make throughout their life.

Yet these are the types he likes to consume, how strange.

Silas thought to himself before shaking his head. This wasn't a place to get lost in his thoughts especially with the soul guardian gone. He needed to leave soon since that meant his target's body would be shutting down and he would be expelled from this space.

The black haired vampire sighed again before raising the soul crystal to his eye, carefully and slowly sliding it inside-ignoring the black substance dripping down his cheek as his eye easily developed the shard. His scissors that were laying on the ground dissolved before dispersing into the air turning into the shape of a black butterfly. Silas stood still, allowing his soul to return into his eye. He wiped away the black liquid from his cheek before shutting both his eyes.

It was time to experience one more memory before he was released from this wretched man's body.

Let's get this over with already.

As a "faithful" follower of the Soul Eater and Madame Justice, it is Brother Silas's duty to collect the souls of those who owe a debt to the church alongside his partner, Sister Celia. However, one day, he is assigned the task of completing a soul hunting mission by himself, needing to prove that he is capable of completing his duties without any assistance. It's just his luck that his target seems to have an unhealthy fascination with vampires....
