Tsibi: Search for Freedom

Battle (Part 1)

Battle (Part 1)

Oct 25, 2025

While the white of the teleportation magic still obscures my vision, I wrap myself in my magical flames as a precaution and jump to the side. Luckily, I trusted my instincts, because moments later, my vision returns, and magical spears have pierced the spot where the Organization teleported me to. It would have been too good to be true if they had sent me somewhere further away, where my life wouldn't have been in immediate danger. But in the end, as always, it doesn't matter. After all, I can easily fend off all the dangers that await me. And like this, I can usually reach a spot where I can get a good overview of my task quickly. But first, I should take care of the group of about twenty people who are sitting on their horses, already pointing their weapons at me and preparing their next magical attacks.

"Who or what are you?"

In response, I rush toward the men and women of the group who are closest to me, and before they or their comrades can react, I have killed four of them.

"Kill it!"

It? Well, I suppose that's an appropriate word for me. After all, I'm just a blade of the Organization, fulfilling its mission. Emotions, my own thoughts, none of that matters. The mission takes precedence over everything else. Not to mention that I have no choice but to obey the Organization, even if I would like to do something else. Be that as it may, in the meantime, six more opponents have taken their last breath, and fear is spreading across the faces of the others. The horses that haven't fled yet are prancing nervously. Don't worry, only your riders are my targets. After all, you were brought here against your will.

"A monster!"

"A demon!"

"Quick, we must inform the Lord General!" a woman tries to take command.

However, I don't give them a chance to gather themselves and report my presence to their commander. With a leap, I knock one person off their horse while sending arrows of fire after the others, which pierce their backs like butter. Almost all of them clutch the places where parts of their bodies had been just a moment ago, before they gradually slump powerlessly from their horses.

I quickly take care of the young man I knocked off his horse, who has probably already lost consciousness. Like a cat emerging from the water, I shake myself vigorously and then stretch. Ugh, I'll probably never get used to the feeling of teleportation. Especially when, as in this case, I have to cause a bloodbath immediately afterwards. Because, as is so often the case, my mission this time is not to let a single soul escape. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had a problem with a few of the scouts getting away. But the Organization would know immediately if I didn't follow their orders to the letter. So what choice do I have?

I stand on the cliff that was controlled by the humans until just a moment ago, and from which I can observe the spectacle below me all too well. The clanging of weapons and the screams, which speak of both defiance in the face of death and courage, but also of fear and the end of so many lives, can be heard all the way up here. Two armies, certainly numbering over ten thousand warriors in total, have united in a maelstrom of blood. Unfortunately, however, this day will not see a victor. No one will triumph and bring supposedly good news to their country. Sighing, I tilt my head back and stare up at the clear blue sky, from which the sun shines so brightly that nothing can hide in the shadows. I suppose it is time to bring the fire of the sun down to earth. I gather more and more fire around me until I resemble a fireball, and nothing of my body can be seen. I don't need to see to know where the battle is raging. I have burned it into my memory, and even if I should grow uncertain, I could always sense it with my magic. Finally, I catapult myself forward with physical strength and magical energy, and like a comet come to life, I plunge into the middle of the fray. As soon as I hit the ground, I unleash the concentrated fire around me in a storm of flames that consumes everything and everyone who comes too close. After the flames have passed, I open my eyes, which I had closed to focus my attention on my magic better. In a wide area around me, there is nothing but ash, molten metal, and burnt ground. Nothing remains to indicate that just a moment ago, hundreds of people were fighting for their lives here. Nothing except their companions, who, further away from my arrival, are surprised and dismayed to witness the end of their friends and comrades, but also that of their enemies. Soon, they will follow them.
