Dante follows Michael and Az to the back of the funeral home, where they had an in-house mortuary, which was convenient for them at least. Dante immediately smells strong chemicals, which thankfully were mostly covering the death smell. Dante pulls up his shirt to cover his nose, “Jesus, that smell is strong.” Az looks back, “Well, we embalm and cremate people here. Everything has to be sanitary.” Dante’s stomach turns, getting uneasy and nauseous.

Az says jokingly, “So how’s Lily, Michael? Have you heard from” Az didn’t even finish their sentence before Michael grabbed Az by the front of their button-up and slammed their back against the wall. The force knocked over a cart full of different medical equipment. Dante gasps and goes to reach for Michael’s shoulder. Az laughs nervously, “Oh shit, I was just joking, Michael.” Michael nearly growls at Az before looking back at Dante with the most intimidating death stare he’d ever seen in his life. Dante backs up immediately and pulls his hand back. Michael looks back at Az before speaking in a low grumble, “Don’t you ever, EVER, mention her name around me again.” He releases his grasp on their shirt. Az brushes off their clothes and straightens them, “I’m sorry, Michael. I didn’t mean to.” Az pauses, not knowing what to say. Michael sighs deeply before looking back over at Dante and smiles, “Sorry about that, Dante.” All his anger seemed to have vanished, and Dante was shaking. ‘This guy is fucking terrifying. I can’t predict him at all. I’m so fucking scared. That stare was no joke. How can he just act so normal now? He’s hiding his intentions behind that smile. I’m shaking, fuck.’ Dante’s head is spinning, “I’m gonna wait outside.” Dante walks out of the room and leaves the two alone in the morgue. Dante sits on the bench by the door and breathes deeply, trying to calm down.

When Dante leaves, the two look at each other for a minute before Michael says, “Seriously, why would you bring her up? Her of all people? You know how I feel about her. You made me lose control of my anger, and I scared the hell out of Dante.” Az pauses for a minute before putting a hand on Michael’s shoulder, “I’m sorry I mentioned her, I didn’t mean to cause trouble. I just wanted to mess with you.” Michael replies, “It’s okay. Just don’t do it again, please.” Az nods and lets go of Michael’s shoulder. They start picking up some of the equipment that fell. “Ya know, Michael, these bodies were all sent to cremation by the families. All 17 of them.” Michael pauses before saying, “That is very strange. Did they have any reasons as to why?” Az shrugs and replies, “All the families said that ‘It was the will of God.’ I don’t get it, honestly.” Michael puts his hand on his chin, “Hmm, do you think it was one of yours?” Az sighs, “I don't think so, though, I don’t know much, to be honest. The only thing I’ve heard recently is some rumors of this cult across New Orleans.” Michael raises an eyebrow, “Cult? You can’t be serious.” Az shrugs their shoulder, “That's what I’ve heard. Just rumors though, could be wrong.” Michael taps his foot, seeming a bit uneasy, “Let us hope so, cults are never fun to deal with.” Az rubs the back of their neck. “Yeah, I agree. I’ve heard mention of the Sabbath.” Michael rolls his eyes, “You can’t be serious.” Az replies, “Oh, I am.” Michael makes his way to the door, “Let’s go check up on Dante, and we can discuss it up front.” Az nods, and they go up front to where Dante is sitting on the bench with his head in his hands.

Az smiles, “Hey Dante, you doing okay?” Dante takes a deep breath before sighing, “I’m fine.” Az raises an eyebrow, knowing he’s lying, but doesn’t say anything. Michael smiles, appearing to have not noticed, “Good, I’m glad. I’m sorry if I scared you.” He walks over and puts his hand on Dante’s shoulder, “Listen, I know I may seem a bit strange,” Dante thinks, ‘A bit?!’ Michael continues, “But I will not hurt you,” he pauses, “I promise.” Az looks at him and pulls him to the side. “Listen, I don’t know what your intentions are with this kid, but a promise? You never break your promises.” Az pauses, “You promised me when we met that you would protect me at all costs, and you have. Even going so far as to hurt yourself in the process.” Michael sighs, but smiles. “It’s okay, Az, don’t worry about me. Surprisingly, I feel the need to protect this kid. I hate to say it, but he reminds me of Lily, all those years ago. Anxious and scared of the world around her, not knowing of what's to come.” He looks at Az in the eyes, a look of sadness overtaking his face. “I don’t want the same fate to happen to Dante.” Dante raises an eyebrow, hearing a slight whisper of his name, “Are you two talking about me?” Michael shakes off his sad expression and smiles back, “Of course not.” They walk back over to Dante, and he stands up so that they're at eye level, well, somewhat. Dante is only 5’7”. Az says, “So hears the deal. People have been killing themselves all over New Orleans, which you’ve heard about; this in itself is already strange. Now, all these bodies were sent to cremation by the families of the deceased, weirder. And lastly, there maaaaay be a strange cult arising in New Orleans that is making people kill themselves.” Dante gasps, “What?!” Az replies, “Yeeeaaah, it seems that way by the amount of bodies and suicides. There is just too much evidence to be a correlation at this point. The good news is, the police don’t know what’s going on, so yay for us.” Dante looks at the ground, “You can’t be serious. First, everyone in the club is dead, and now you’re talking about some cult? This can’t be real.” Michael sighs, “Unfortunately, this is real, and by the looks of it Dante, you are somehow involved.” Dante puts his head in his hands and groans, “Fuuuuuck, this sucks.” Az puts their hand on Dante’s shoulder, “Listen, Dante, it’s gonna be okay. Michael made a promise to you. I’ll stay by your side too.” Az smiles, “Don’t worry, we've got your back.” Dante sighs, “Alright, alright.” Az replies and pats Dante’s shoulder, “Good! Now you two go back to the crime scene and see if you can find any evidence. I’ll talk to the police and ask my superiors if they know anything. Have fun!” Michael smiles and kisses Az’s cheek, “Thank you, love, I appreciate you.” Az rubs the back of his neck, blushing a bit. Michael never makes the first move, “It’s no problem, guys.” Az waves goodbye, and they both walk out of the funeral home waving bye as well. As soon as the door shuts Michael says, “Alright time to go back to the club.” They start walking and Michael smiles, “Oh, and Dante.” Dante looks over at him, then Michael says, “Take my promise seriously. I never break them.”
