Rabbit Blade

Chapter #3: Home Part 3

Chapter #3: Home Part 3

Oct 25, 2025

Out in the ruins of Rabbit Burrow, Sabito was making a grave for his grandfather and master Minetaka.

Sabito stood there and prayed for his grandfather’s journey in the afterlife.

Sabito puts his katana on his back.

“Grandfather, Natsu and I will NOT fail you,” Sabito said.

Sabito began walking to the forest where he was supposed to meet Natsu.

“Hmm, where’s Natsu?” he asked as he looked around.

Sabito walked a bit further into the forest.

    “Natsu!” Sabito called out.

Sabito looked around even further as it began to rain.

Sabito soon made it to the last location of Natsu and the other rabbits.

He looked down and saw torn clothes.

     Sabito’s heart began to race.

“N-no,” Sabito said as he looked further.

Sabito walked over and something shiny in the distance.

His eyes widened as he got closer.

    Sabito saw Natsu’s sword.

    Sabito dropped to his knees.

“N-Natsu…I’m sorry,” he said as tears started to stream down his face.

“This is all my fault…,” Sabito said as he sobbed.

“If only I’d listened,” Sabito cried.

Sabito looked down as his tears hit the ground.

Not far from Sabito, a hungry weasel wearing baggy pants and a hoodie with long hair was walking.

“Geez, I need food I haven’t eaten in two days,” the weasel named Bruno said.

    Bruno suddenly heard sobbing.

Bruno ducked into the bushes and glanced over and saw Sabito.

“It’s a young rabbit and he’s all alone,” Bruno pointed out.

Bruno smirked as his stomach started to growl.

“Yeah, yeah I hear you, stomach,” Bruno said as he lunged out toward Sabito.

Sabito’s ears perked up as he jumped back, dodging Bruno.

      Bruno gritted his teeth.

“DARN! I missed you kid,” Bruno said.

    Sabito quickly drew his katana.

“What do you want with me?” Sabito asked with tears still in his eyes.

“It’s nothing personal, rabbit, I need food and I found you,” Bruno said as he charged at Sabito.

Sabito decided to put his sword back into his holster.

Sabito kicked his foot up when Bruno got close, hitting him in the chin.

    Bruno fell back.

    “Augh! That hurt,” Bruno said.

“Just stay still and allow yourself to be eaten,” Bruno said.

    Bruno ran at Sabito.

    Sabito started blocking Bruno’s attacks.

Bruno saw an opening and bit Sabito’s left arm.

  “AHHH!” Sabito screamed in pain.

  Sabito quickly flipped Bruno over.

  Bruno fell on the ground.

“You are the hardest prey I ever had to catch,” Bruno said.

Sabito glared. “I’m NOT in the mood for this, so this is your FIRST and ONLY warning to leave now,” Sabito warned in anger.

Bruno laughed. “You a rabbit is warning me? A weasel? Don’t make me laugh,” he said.

“I’m really going to enjoy killing you and making fried rabbit,” Bruno said.

     Sabito got into a stance.

     Bruno lunged at Sabito.

Bruno had his mouth open and his sharp teeth showing.

Sabito quickly side-stepped him and gave him an elbow strike in his side.

Bruno screamed in pain as he fell.

Sabito did a flip as Bruno struggled to stand.

Sabito used a hook kick, knocking Bruno back.

Bruno glared as he fell on the ground.

Bruno jumped up and grabbed Sabito by the neck.

“I’m going to snap your neck like a twig,” Bruno said.

Sabito closed his eyes and flipped Bruno over.

After flipping Bruno over, Sabito performed a spear hand to Bruno arms and legs to paralyze him.

Sabito glared at Bruno. “I tried to warn you,” he said.

Bruno winced as he couldn’t move.

Sabito walked over to Natsu’s katana.

He picked up and looked at the torn clothes of his fallen clan members.

He prayed for each and everyone of them.

“May your spirits guide me,” Sabito said, softly.

Sabito puts Natsu’s katana into his book bag.

Sabito continued walking through the forest, leaving Bruno to think about his actions.

Sabito had a lot on his mind as the rain continued.

   He thought about his home.

   He thought of his clan.

He thought about Natsu and the rabbits he couldn’t save.

Sabito also thought about his grandfather Minetaka who taught him everything about the sword.

Sabito started clenching his fists when Lord Magnus and his demon hawks appeared in his mind.

Sabito stopped in his tracks and looked up into the heavens.

“I promise you all that Lord Magnus will not get away with what he has done to our home and you all I promise you that,” Sabito said.

“I Sabito Lagomorph solemnly swear that I will protect the world from people like Lord Magnus and his demon hawks,” Sabito said.

Sabito continued to walk as the stars began to make an appearance in the sky.

     Sabito looked up.

“I need to find a place to stay for tonight,” Sabito thought as he continued walking forward.

Sabito soon saw a little bit of light in the distance.

Sabito ran closer as he saw that he ran out of forest and started seeing a road.

Sabito glanced down the road as he saw the little town in the distance.

Sabito made his way into the little town.

He glanced around at the lights because this was the closest thing to a city that he’s ever seen.

There were a lot of people walking around.

Sabito walked past them as they began to stare.

“Is that a rabbit?” a female gopher asked.

“Yeah, I never seen one up close before,” a male deer said.

   Sabito looked around.

Sabito cleared his throat as he stood in front of a lizard couple.

“Do you guys know where I can find a place to lay my head for tonight?” Sabito asked, politely.

The male nodded. “Of course, young rabbit, you see that building over there that says Mountaintop Inn?” he asked.

    Sabito nodded.

    “It’s right there,” he said.

Sabito bowed respectfully. “I see, thank you,” he said as he walked over to the inn.

Sabito walked over to the inn.

He heard talking from the inside.

“Ma’am, I’m sorry,” a large porian rhino said as glass shattered.

“Ambrose, stop! You’re wrecking the place,” a female voice said.

Sabito thought it was a cry for help and drew his katana and burst into the building.

“Stop your destruction this instance,” Sabito said as Ambrose screamed.

The female deer named Bellatrix looked at Sabito.

“Calm down, sword-rabbit, my friend is a bit clumsy,” Bellatrix said as she fixed her apron and hair.

“That wasn’t a cry for help?” Sabito asked in confusion.

     “No,” Ambrose said.

Sabito puts his sword back into his holster.

“I’m sorry, if I scared you, which is highly unlikely,” Sabito said.

Ambrose gulped. “I was terrified,” he said.

“Why you’re a rhino and I’m a rabbit you could easily flatten me if you want to,” Sabito explained.

“I’m not the violent type,” Ambrose said.

“Yup he’s our town’s big teddy bear, well teddy rhino,” Bellatrix said as she giggled.

Sabito looked at Ambrose. “WHat an honorable way to live,” he said, respectfully.

    “R-really?” Ambrose asked.

    “Of course,” Sabito said.

“I’m Ambrose and this is Bellatrix,” Ambrose said.

“Hello, I’m Sabito Lagomorph,” Sabito bowed.

“What brings you to the Mountaintop Inn?” Bellatrix asked.

“I would like a room to lay my head for tonight,” Sabito said.

Bellatrix nodded. “Sure,” she said as she gave him a key.

“Room 616 down the hall there,” Bellatrix said.

Sabito nodded and took the key.

“Thank you,” he said as he walked down the hall to his room.

Ambrose looked at Bellatrix. “Wow, who would believe that we saw a REAL rabbit?” Ambrose asked.

Bellatrix blinked. “I know, it’s crazy,” she said.

Sabito looked around at the room that had a nature theme to it.

Sabito was able to ease his mind of everything.

“Such a nice room,” he said as he closed the door.

Inside of a tree far from the area, Lord Magnus was sitting in his nest as Winters flew into the room.

“Lord Magnus, how's your recovery?” Winters asked.

“It’s speeding up but when I’m all healed we will get that rabbit with the ichor power,” Lord Magnus said.

“Hmm, in fact, Winters, I want you to take a group and search for the whereabouts and come back with the information,” Lord Magnus said.

Winters nodded. “Understood, Lord Magnus,” he said.

“You’re dismissed,” Lord Magnus said as Winters flew out of the room to get ready for his mission.

Lord Magnus gritted his teeth. “Ichor power…It’s back…Heh, but not for long,” he said as his anger turned into laughter.
