The next morning, Sabito woke up and looked around.
He yawned as he got out of bed.
Sabito looked out the window.
The people in the small town were lively.
Sabito grabbed his hoodie and his katana holster.
Sabito also grabbed his book bag.
Suddenly, he heard a knock at the door.
Sabito glanced over at the door.
“Yeah?” Sabito called out.
Bellatrix was standing at the door.
“I made breakfast,” Bellatrix said.
Sabito looked down as his stomach started growling.
Sabito puts a hand on his stomach.
“Well, I could eat,” he said.
Sabito exited the room and followed Bellatrix to the kitchen, where the other guests were.
The other guests glanced over at Sabito.
A young turtle wearing a leather jacket looked at the young buck deer.
“So it is true that a rabbit is in this town,” the young turtle said.
“Very odd,” the buck said.
Sabito sat down at the table.
Ambrose entered the kitchen.
“Hey! Bellatrix,” Ambrose said as he ran in, bumping into the wall, leaving a huge dent in it.
Some of the guests snickered.
Bellatrix sighed.
“What is it, Ambrose?” Bellatrix asked.
“Genghis Quack is coming back,” Ambrose said.
Sabito’s ears perked up at the name Genghis Quack.
“Did you say Genghis Quack?” Sabito asked as everyone in the room looked at him.
Ambrose looked at Sabito. “Do you know him?” he asked.
“No, but I’ve heard of him,” Sabito said.
“He’s a legendary warrior from The Yazi Clan,” Sabito added.
Ambrose and Bellatrix looked at each other.
“Wow, you sure know a lot about him,” Ambrose said.
“So he lives here?” Sabito asked.
Bellatrix nodded. “Yes, he does a lot for the town. He’s the local hero here,” she explained.
Sabito thought in his mind, “Maybe I can get him to train me so I can defeat Lord Magnus and his demon hawks.”
“I would love to meet him,” Sabito said.
Ambrose looked at Sabito. “Well, just stick with me because today I’m meeting over at the entrance into the town,” Ambrose explained.
Sabito nodded. “Okay, awesome,” he said as he began to eat.
Bellatrix looked at Ambrose. “Look at you making friends,” Bellatrix said.
“Yeah, hehe,” Ambrose said.
After breakfast, Sabito and Ambrose walked out to the entrance of the town where Genghis Quack was coming from.
Sabito looked at Ambrose.
“What is Genghis Quack like?” Sabito asked.
“He’s pretty much the strong, silent type, but he does talk to those he truly knows, like me and Bellatrix,” Ambrose explained.
“He’s also kind to the people in the town as well; it's like he formed a family here,” Ambrose added.
“I see, it’s going to be an honor to meet him,” Sabito said.
Not far from the area, a green-headed duck with an orange beak and a samurai ponytail wearing a black and red kimono with the katana in the holster.
He was walking with a stern look on his face.
He was also carrying a large fish.
He glanced over at Ambrose and Sabito.
“A rabbit?” he asked as he walked toward them.
“Genghis Quack!” Ambrose said in excitement.
Genghis Quack bowed. “Hello, Ambrose. Who might this be?” he asked.
“I’m Sabito Lagomorph,” Sabito said.
Genghis Quack was thrown off by the name because he once knew a rabbit named Lagomorph.
“Hmm,” Genghis Quack said as he continued walking over to the Mountaintop Inn.
Sabito and Ambrose followed behind him.
As the trio walked over to the Mountaintop Inn, people were greeting Genghis Quack.
Sabito looked around.
“Wow,” he thought.
Genghis Quack entered the Mountaintop Inn.
Bellatrix looked over at the door as Genghis Quack entered the building with the giant fish he caught.
“You can fry it up for dinner tonight, it's enough for all the guests,” Genghis Quack said.
Bellatrix nodded. “Okay, thanks again, Genghis Quack,” she said with a smile.
Genghis Quack bowed.
“It’s no trouble,” Genghis Quack said.
Sabito looked over at Genghis Quack.
“Genghis Quack, sir, could I have a word with you?” Sabito asked.
Genghis Quack glanced back at him.
“Sure,” he said.
Sabito and Genghis Quack walked outside.
“Why do you want me to train you?” Genghis Quack asked.
Sabito’s eyes widened.
“You knew I was going to ask you to train me?” Sabito asked.
“Of course, rabbits don’t just leave the burrows, and I heard the stories of what happened as I was coming back to the town,” Genghis Quack explained as Sabito looked down.
Genghis Quack puts a hand on his shoulder.
“Explain to me why you want this training?” Genghis Quack asked.
“I want to take people like Lord Magnus and his demon hawks down so there won’t be a repeat of what happened in the rabbit burrows,” Sabito explained.
Genghis Quack looked at him for a moment without saying a word.
Sabito gulped at the strange silence between them.
“I believe you,” Genghis Quack simply said.
Sabito looked surprised. “You do?” he asked.
Genghis Quack nodded. “Yes, I can sense no dark intent,” he said.
Sabito looked at Genghis Quack.
“Now, onto my answer, I don’t just accept anyone; I have to see how good you are,” Genghis Quack said.
Genghis Quack turned around.
“Follow me to the fields,” Genghis Quack said.
Sabito nodded. “Okay,” he said.
Ambrose and Bellatrix looked out the window and saw Sabito and Genghis Quack walking out to the fields.
“The rabbit wants to be trained by Genghis Quack?” Ambrose asked.
“Hehe, he'd better be ready, Genghis Quack’s tests are difficult, he makes even grown porians cry,” Bellatrix said.
Ambrose looked at Bellatrix. “That rabbit seems to be different from the others. I can’t quite put a finger on it, but I just know it,” Ambrose explained.
Sabito and Genghis Quack made it out to the fields.
Sabito looked around at the giant fields with a lot of space.
“This must be one of your favorite spots,” Sabito said.
“That is true,” Genghis Quack said.
Genghis Quack drew his katana.
“Now draw your katana and let us begin your test,” Genghis Quack added.
Sabito nodded and drew his katana.
Genghis Quack stood across from Sabito.
Everything was silent.
The wind began to blow.
Sabito ran at Genghis Quack with the sword in his hand.
Genghis Quack blocked Sabito’s attacks.
“It’s good that you don’t hesitate, but it’s also bad to be reckless,” Genghis Quack said as he swung his katana.
Sabito hopped up.
Genghis Quack looked up.
Sabito landed and swung his katana.
Genghis Quack did a flip over Sabito.
Genghis Quack clashed his katana with Sabito’s.
Sabito tried to push Genghis Quack back.
Genghis Quack pushed Sabito back.
Sabito stumbled a bit.
Genghis Quack jumped up, kicking Sabito in the face, knocking him to the ground.
Genghis Quack pointed the sword at his face.
Sabito’s eyes widened.
“Whoa,” Sabito said.
Genghis Quack puts his katana back into the holster.
Sabito stood up and put his sword back in the holster.
Sabito quickly bowed respectfully.
“So did I pass?” Sabito asked.
Genghis Quack looked at him.
“You’ve got much to learn, but I will say even when you were up against the wall, you didn’t resort to trickery or anger, and that’s admirable in a warrior, so, yes you’ve passed,” Genghis Quack explained.
Sabito smiled. “Awesome,” he said.
“Be warned, Young Bakayle, I won’t be easy on you because of what happened to your people at the hands of those dreadful demon hawks. In fact, I’m going to be twice as hard on you because I don’t want to see you suffer your fellow clan members’ same fate,” Genghis Quack explained.
Sabito nodded. “I understand, Master Genghis Quack,” he said.
Genghis Quack nodded. “Let’s head back, and tomorrow we will get you clothes to train in to show you’re a part of my camp,” Genghis Quack said.
“Okay,” Sabito said as he followed Genghis Quack back to Mountaintop Inn.
Back at the large tree, Winters and his team flew out into the sky.
Winters had a confident look on his face.
“Listen! If we find that rabbit, the pleasure of killing and devouring him will be ours,” Winters said.
Winters smirked as the others agreed.
Winters and the demon hawks fly through the forest.
“That rabbit’s days are numbered,” Winters said.
