"Niko...? Are you-"
Mick watched the man pace back and forth which he had been doing ever since they had gotten back home.
"Is this about the guy at the club because-"
"SHHH."
"Ok im sorry but all this pacing has be concerned-"
"Do you not know what "SHHHH" means?!" Niko snapped- he ran his fingers through his hair "I can't think with all this noise."
"Ok ok- I'll just stand over there in the corner."
"Mick right?"
"Yeah-"
"Mind if I walk with you?"
"So... you and the boss seem to be... close."
"Oh- uh- I mean- we're not- like- friends or anything- or- um-" Mick stuttered
"Don't have to lie to me mate." The guard laughed "Your just like the last one."
"Oh-"
"Yeah. He's into them- their into him- but it never works."
"Ah-"
"Yeah- I uh- don't think the boss is into men. Just looking for a friend." Mick quickly said
Mick didn't want to out Niko. Obviously the man was very closested and Mick didn't want to ruin anything by agreeing with this guard. The two walked in silence before Mick spoke up
"Hey so.... why did you want to walk with me?"
"Just curious. The boss has never been to keen on hiring people that were orginally prisoners." The guard crossed his arms "Your useful to the team. So don't fuck this up."
"What happens if I do?"
"You'll never find another job again. Granted- you may end up dead. Betraying the boss or messing up bad enough has severe consequences. You may be his friend but... that doesn't mean you wont be punished severely if you fuck up."
Mick shuddered at the thought. Would Niko actually kill him if he dared mess something up? Probably. Mick nodded awkwardly at the guard.
"Don't mean to scare you or anything mate. Just need you to be aware."
"Right... thanks..." Mick muttered walking in silence for a bit more "hey... do you have any idea who could be behind this? The whole- note and mission and club thing?"
"I have some suspicions. Could be rivals- could be someone in the base already- could be an ex, honestly? It could be anyone."
"Ah..."
Mick excused himself and walked back to the elevator that led to Niko's home. Could it really be an ex or someone in the base? A rival seemed the most likley answer but then again the most likley answer wasn't always the answer. He had to think about this like it was a murder mystery or a horror movie. Mick had never been that big a fan of the scary genre but he had seen enough to use it to think about this.
"Niko....?"
Mick stared. When he had walked into the house he found Niko with a giant board with a bunch of red string. The man looked insane
"Are you-"
"I- well yes I know but are you sure your-"
Niko was still pacing back and forth.
Mick stared at him.
"Ok- yeah no- you need rest. Come on lets go." Mick tugged Niko's sleeve doing his best to pry him away from the board
"NO. LET GO. I HAVE TO FIGURE THIS OUT."
"You look insane."
"NO YOU LOOK INSANE."
"Shut up."
Silence
"Fucking bastard." Niko muttered as he yanked his sleeve away from Mick to go to his room mocking the mans words as he trudged off
Mick glanced at the board
Maybe he could figure something out while Nico was asleep...
Maybe then he could impress him further.
And possibly save himself from being killed if he ever did mess up.
