The CEO's Secret Plan

That's your 'urgent business'!

That's your 'urgent business'!

Nov 02, 2025

Gunny walked clumsily behind Kawin. She had to quicken her pace until she was breathless just to keep up with his long, relentless strides toward the parking lot. She couldn't understand why he was walking so fast, or if he was rushing off to some important business. But when they reached the parking lot, all she saw was his casual demeanor as he slowly untied his necktie.

"What kind of work do you need me to help you with?" Gunny asked, stopping in the parking lot.

Kawin shrugged and glanced at her. "Important work. Otherwise, why would I lead you out of the lion's den?"

"What kind of work, exactly?" the accountant insisted.

Kawin maintained his irritatingly playful expression until she almost wanted to scream from the frustration.

"I actually need some flowers for some girls."

"That's your 'urgent business'!" she shrieked in a high-pitched voice, half in shock, before sighing heavily with weariness. A massive pile of work was waiting for her on her desk, and instead of tackling her own tasks, she was stuck doing something utterly pointless with him.

"If boss knew you were this ridiculous, she would never have let me come with you," she stated. If she could, she would turn around and walk away for good, if not for the fact that his high position allowed him to fire her.

"How she finds out isn't important. I'm about to test our partnership," Kawin said with a poker face, which only annoyed her more.

Gunny sighed slowly, unable to conceal her displeasure. "Just hearing you talk such nonsense, I think... I truly wish I had never met you," Gunny muttered to herself.

She then quickly pressed the car key remote until the lights flashed, before jumping into the large truck and glaring at Kawin in annoyance.

Kawin was oblivious to the fact that he had driven her to the brink of fury. He maintained his extremely casual attitude, sauntering over to open the car door with total composure.

But as soon as he got in, Gunny immediately turned back to him, surprised. “Hey, sir! What about your car?”

“My car broke down, so I’m going to have to catch a ride with you,” Kawin said, comfortably reclining his seat while whistling an irritatingly cheerful tune.

Gunny glanced around, feeling both surprised and suspicious. The highest executive’s car broke down? He had no spare vehicle and was hitching a ride with a lowly employee? It seemed utterly bizarre.

“Are you really going to ride with me? Don’t you have a backup car?”

“Why? Is me riding with you a problem?” He shifted slightly closer, staring at her with playful, sparkling eyes.

Gunny raised a hand to slap her own forehead before turning back to look straight ahead, her eyes filled with extreme weariness. She could only clench her teeth, inwardly cursing herself for being forced to run errands for the very man she had wronged just the day before.

As they drove away from the company, Kawin was not idle. He kept chatting and asking questions the entire way, making the young woman realize he was prying for information.

“I heard you’ve only been working here for a few years and aren’t particularly close with anyone at the office. Your personal nature is not ambitious, nor do you compete with anyone, but you are focused on your own work and perform so well that you received an excellent employee evaluation score. It’s possible that in the future, you might be promoted to Department Head or Manager level.”

Kawin leaned back against the seat, completely relaxed as if he were at home. One hand rested on his lap, the other propped his chin on the center console, and he turned to look at her with a cunning smile.

“How do you know all that?” Gunny asked instantly. He had only been running the company for a few days, yet he acted as if he knew her perfectly.

“I investigated, of course,” Kawin replied with the most irritatingly playful smile. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly, making his handsome face look mischievous and unpredictable.

Gunny rolled her eyes, thinking, ‘Why do I have to put up with this?’ This atmosphere was nothing like a romantic novel; instead, it was filled with rising annoyance that she could barely contain. Her beautiful, slender face began to pout slightly, her brows furrowed, and her large, round eyes glared at him with displeasure. She desperately wanted to get out of the car and go home to escape this uncomfortable situation.

“What exactly do you want from me?” she asked, glancing at him briefly, as she needed most of her concentration on the road ahead.

Kawin narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing her. Inside his head, he was calculating and analyzing whether this woman could truly be the reliable assistant he needed.

“You were here when my father was managing the company, weren’t you?” he asked.

Gunny paused, reviewing her memories from when she was hired at the company. She had never met CEO Pichet then. All she knew was that he was the owner, but the person who often greeted and welcomed new staff was Pradit, the other major board member.

“I never met him, sir. But I knew how influential he was. At that time, the person we frequently encountered was Pradit.”

“Ah, so that’s how it was,” the CEO nodded slowly. His eyes shifted from their previous mischief to a look of seriousness and deep contemplation. He was no longer looking at her but gazing at the road ahead, as if connecting the information she provided with what he already knew.

“Is there anything that seemed suspicious regarding the accounts you handled?” Kawin’s question made Gunny pause and think again. Was he testing her integrity? If she told him everything, would he consider her a blabbermouth?

“I think you should inquire with the Chief Accountant; I’m unable to answer that question,” Gunny replied with a flat but deeply cautious expression. She chose not to say much, unsure whether her words would affect her job security.

Kawin glanced at her from the corner of his eye before falling silent for the rest of the drive. He felt surprised that this woman refused to give him any information at all, even though, typically, other employees, knowing he was the CEO, would try to please him and offer every piece of information he requested.
