Kari’s P.O.V.
October 2nd, Night
In the Galaxies
I flew the ship and focused ahead of me. Luckily, we are not due for gas for another few days. Claire and Alonso are sleeping in the rooms peacefully. Because of that, I can feel comfortable. I relaxed slightly while thinking back on everything that has happened recently.
I escaped my home planet. Afterward, I met a conflicted surgeon and a mechanic who wanted to leave her planet as I did. As happy as I should have been to not be alone, I found myself having trouble accepting them. It was not until I saw Alonso’s pain that I felt like I could relate to someone. When it comes to Claire and Alonso, I can see they have a history together that they are not one hundred percent telling me about.
As much as I do not want to ask them about things, I feel like I need to know something. I mean, it is obvious that Alonso wanted to do something with me the day he saw Claire “was moving on” as he said. I just chose to ignore it.
A ship quickly flew past me, shaking the ship slightly. I swiftly got the ship back in control. A few more ships repeated the last ship before gaining my attention.
What is going on?
A large crash hit our ship, knocking it out of the route. I tried to get the ship in control, but that had been difficult. Claire and Alonso's voices were in the hall, calling for each other. The sound of an alert rang through my ears. The ship spun in circles and nausea came to me. Before I knew it, everything grew dark.
A Few Hours Later
A Meadow-Like Area
When I opened my eyes, al I could see had been the blurry silhouette of someone. The sound of birds chirping filled my ears along with the sound of a nearby water source. As beautiful as everything sounded, this pain in my side nearly destroyed the little peace I had.
When my vision cleared, I had been met with eyes of gold, highlighted by dark and heavy eyeliner. It was Nylah. Worry was on her face. I wonder what happened.
“You are awake.” I attempted to sit up but felt a pain in my side. I let out a yell in pain.
“Kari, calm yourself.” I laid on my back. She moved near me and sat my head on her lap.
“What happened?” I asked.
“You do not remember?” She asked.
“I remember Kade and the guards dragging you into our room. I hardly remember much after that. My memory seems kind of hazy.”
“You crazy girl. Do you not remember what happened after that?” I shook my head.
Despite my brain hardly remembering anything, I felt the urge to cry when I saw her. My arms wanted to embrace her and not let her go. Perhaps it is because I hardly had the chance to see her before. Especially when I married Kade.

A Forest-Like Area
When I woke up, all I could feel was an immense amount of pain in my ankle. I sat up and looked down to see my ankle appeared to be swollen. What happened to me? I was asleep, some bang happened, and then the ship spun. The next thing I knew, I was here.
My eyes enlarged.
Kari and Alonso!
I do not see them around me. We must have been separated. I quickly reached for my phone in my pocket but stopped.
My phone was on the charger. Meaning that when we crashed, I was likely separated from it. I sighed. If I am lucky, it may be somewhere around here. If I cannot find my phone, then I should go searching for Kari and Alonso myself.
I tried to stand up but felt the pain in my ankle stopped me. Okay, before looking for those two, I have to do something to make some type of splint. I looked around.
Well, these leaves, sticks, and vines seem trustworthy. I thought back to Alonso’s work. From what I remember, he had something similar to these sticks on both sides.
I removed my shoe and cringed. It feels worse than I expected.
I gained my courage and took the sticks and put them on both sides of my ankle. I grabbed my large leaves and wrapped one around my foot and the other around my ankle. I ripped the slightly dead vines off the tree and broke off the thorns. I lastly tied it around and completed my splint.
Some of the pressure calmed down on my ankle. I used a tree to help myself up and looked around. My eyes paused on the pile of large branches. I picked up two of similar sizes.
I can use these as crutches. I held each in my hands and scanned the area. To my dismay, my phone was nowhere around me but I am happy to have a more stable way to walk. Now I can find Kari and Alonso.

A Desert-like area
I stared at the ship in dismay. The ship was mostly okay, but it appears one of the engines is broken. As much as I want to focus on that, I worry that Claire might be out there injured. I don't even want to imagine how many feet we must have dropped from space. To make matters worse, my phone has no signal here. I have no choice but to find her on foot.
I walked into the ship and began to pack a bag full of medical supplies, food, and water. Once finished, I walked out and started my journey. After what felt like hours, my journey felt endless. Each time I left, I somehow came back to the ship. I stopped and looked at the ship. Maybe I should look at something to explain this planet.
There was a book Claire had, right? I believe it is in her room on the ship. I walked back into the ship. Suddenly, the door closed shut behind me.
“Emergency mode on.”
Emergency?
“Activating protection: Sandstorm”
I rushed to the window to see a dark cloud of what looked like sand or dust coming toward what ship. My eyes widened.
Claire!
I quickly rushed towards the door and tried to push it open but to no avail. Claire may be out there and possibly in danger.
