“What do you mean?” Kawin asked, his face immediately turning serious.
“That’s exactly why I said I don’t want to be the subject of office gossip!” Gunny drew herself up and lifted her chin slightly.
“Could you elaborate so I can understand?” He met her gaze, genuinely perplexed, then watched as the accountant pulled her phone from her coat pocket.
“If you don't believe me, just look. That picture of you escorting a woman back to your condo has already spread across the internet. And it’s not just one woman; they’ve lined up a timeline of ten different people!” Gunny stated, pressing the screen to show him the news link.
Kawin picked up his own phone to check the headlines and found that photos of him paired with almost a dozen women were prominently displayed in the social news circles. He looked up at her, confusion washing over his face, mixed with the realization of the deep disappointment and weariness etched on her own.
“Someone must have deliberately leaked these photos,” he murmured quietly, while Gunny crossed her arms and glared intensely.
“But the women I was with were willing participants. I didn’t force or entice anyone against their consent.”
“I know that, but having this kind of news affects your credibility,” she explained slowly, pointing a finger at the news article.
“Credibility?” He repeated her word, and then something clicked. Pitak and the senior executives’ assembly must have been connected to this deliberate attack on his reputation. “I believe someone is definitely behind this.” Kawin frowned, annoyed.
Gunny let out a slow breath. It seemed he still hadn't realized his own fault in the matter, choosing instead to blame others.
“Or maybe your friend, Ohm, sold the story?” Kawin’s theory was so infuriating that Gunny felt compelled to defend her good-natured friend from further slander.
“Listen to you! Don’t you dare insult my friend. Ohm is not that kind of person! Besides, those photos were taken at your own condo! Why don’t you blame yourself for being careless? You hold such a high position; shouldn't you stop this behavior that damages your image and the company's?” Gunny instantly fired back.
Kawin felt as if he’d been repeatedly slapped across the face. He analyzed her words: the whole mess truly did stem from his own actions. Yet, if there was someone who stood to gain from his damaged reputation, there were only a few who would benefit from this news.
“I know I made a mistake, but I don’t believe someone would simply follow my life and deliberately release the photos. It feels like the entire thing was a coordinated plan,” he frowned, trying to make sense of the situation.
“I don’t know who your enemies are. Maybe it's just someone who resents you. But I’m warning you: bad press like this will absolutely affect the company. Before you know it, there might be an emergency board meeting about the Executive’s behavior damaging the corporate image.” Gunny warned him, annoyance clear in her voice. Although she didn't particularly like him, she didn't want the company she worked for to be unreasonably impacted.
Kawin pressed his hand to his temple. He had miscalculated. Yesterday's events might have been nothing more than a carefully staged play orchestrated by someone to make his image too toxic to replace Pichet as the executive.
